Carter gets thrown into the mix of Anthony Allen, Bobby Rainey and Damien Berry. Allen is the most valuable of the incumbents, and the battle for the third and final running back spot will likely come down to him and Carter, who gained 122 yards on 32 attempts last season.

If the Ravens are looking to go for the better runner, Carter has the advantage, however Allen's special teams ability could ultimately earn him the roster spot.

Right now, the only two WR locks are Torrey Smith and Jacoby Jones, with Deonte Thompson and Brandon Stokley being assumed roster members. That leaves two open spots, as the Ravens typically carry six wide receivers on the active roster.

I recently read an article where Kyle Juice-Box (no idea how to spell his name) can replace Allen on special teams, so he's not THAT safe...

Also...I like to think Jones isn't necessarily a lock. When we picked him up I wasn't that impressed, but he really made a several key plays last season to get us to the championship. He's not that great a receiver and he excels at returning...I think he's looking over his shoulder too...

I don't think Jones is going anywhere, but you are right, he is more valuable to the team as a return man and 3rd wr.....If it were not for his big play in Denver, we would not have advanced to the AFCCG and then the SB.....Mellete or Thompson may end up with the #2.

Pierce getting traded?

Lol, yea for Adrian Peterson and a 1st rounder next year......I think Harbs is not content with the RB depth past Ray and Pierce, and saw a chance to unload a bum wr and get a rb for a bag of chips and a coke.....Typical Ozzie.

Geez that's a scary thought.

For me it's not as scary as Jones being the #2. I want the Ravens to use Jones exactly as they did last year. He's a flat out difference maker on special teams and can make the occasional big play on offense when defenses forget about him.

No. I agree Jones should be #3. The scary part is what the options are for #2.

105.7 vinny said this entire trade was just about saving face for cutting draft picks

We dont have a spot for reed and cutting him outright after a half million dollar signing bonus would look bad. Colts drafted their rb in the fourth, they have no spot for him. Instead of both GMs looking like fools u trade them and let the other team cut them.

I forsee lots of 2 TE sets, lots of Leach/The Juice, and a decent amount of Stokley. Jones should get the 2nd most snaps in the WR role though, but don't expect it to be a number that a typical #2 would see.

Speaking of Juice, did anyone see him on the field last night?

No, I didn't.....I did see Shank finally catch a ball but dropped 2 or 3 more and caused an interception.... Then Clark dropped 2 right in his hands, not good.....And if Doss isn't the next wr to get cut, I will be surprised.....Osemele looked like he was asleep at the wheel.....other than the first drive, that was a sad showing on Offense....I'm concerned about Caldy's system , it worked well with Peyton but after a while people figured out how to beat it regardless of Peyton the brainiac.....

I'm confident they will show up, I just hope it's not halfway thru the season....

I saw Juice on the field split out as a WR once and I'm sure he was on the field a few other times but he didn't get too much action overall.

Why do you think we will go after him ?

He's more talented and polished than anything we have on the roster (short of T.Smith of course). He's cheap for this year and next. It sounds like Oakland may want to part ways (while they can still get some return). He can also return punts if needed (probably the only reason for keeping Doss).

I mention Doss as part of the trade, because the Ravens would save face a little by not having to cut a 4th rounder. Oakland would be more interested in the 4th round pick it would take. Another possibility might be McPhee (instead of a pick).

I totally agree that Doss is a bust and needs to be gone....I think Rainey and Jackson are better returners so no loss there either....Melette and Marlon Brown have both looked promising and Laquan at times too, I don't know that Oz would give up a pick for another hopeful, even though he does have more experience and would definitely be better than Doss....

But who knows better than Ozzie and Harbaugh....Hey wasn't that an old tv series, lol..

I'm as excited as anyone about Melette and Brown, but it simply is not a smart plan to go into the regular season expecting anything from either.

Moore had 200 less yards and 3 more TDs than Boldin did last year. When the Ravens let go of Boldin, I stated they felt they could replace 80% of Boldin's production at 20% his cost. They do better on both ends with a duplicate year from Moore (wearing purple).

Good point, I don't know much about Moore but if that's the case, it wouldn't hurt to give it a run...

Stokley is a help but not a replacement of Boldin....

I am predicting that Denarius Moore will be a Raven within a week. They will trade Doss and a pick.

I was thinking Masaqui, whom Jax just cut..That way it wont cost us a pick
