papasmurfbell Posted February 19, 2014 Posted February 19, 2014 Ngata will play out his contract and retire.I doubt that. When he gets to a managable cap hit level I think they move on. Quote
oldno82 Posted February 19, 2014 Posted February 19, 2014 Cut Ngata next year. He's past his peak by a lot. Quote
papasmurfbell Posted February 19, 2014 Posted February 19, 2014 It would still hurt pretty bad cutting him then too. Quote
GrubberRaven Posted February 19, 2014 Posted February 19, 2014 He has two more years and this year is not the one to cut him. Quote
vmax Posted February 20, 2014 Posted February 20, 2014 Teams have not game planned for Suggs in a few years. It wasn't just last year, he can be blocked now with one person. He gets sucked in on almost every run play with dive action. He has reached the point in his career where it seems he can do what he thinks is right, rather than staying with the scheme. It is almost as if he is back to his rookie year when he could not hold the edge on outside runs. Instead not, he just isn't there because he got sucked inside; bad, very very bad for an end. He should have a talk with Rob Burnett. He could have put up big numbers, but instead he played disciplined and made a big difference on the defense. Quote
oldno82 Posted February 20, 2014 Posted February 20, 2014 It would still hurt pretty bad cutting him then too.If they cut him in 2015 the dead money is half what it would be this year. Still hurts, but do-able. Quote
papasmurfbell Posted February 20, 2014 Posted February 20, 2014 If I am remembering correctly it was like $13mil. Quote
Money Posted February 20, 2014 Posted February 20, 2014 If I am remembering correctly it was like $13mil. As I stated in my post above...he would count $16m against the cap if they keep him 2015. If they release him they save $8.5m (meaning $7.5m in dead money). Quote
