The good news is Kubiack said "Fine. You want to take the run away? We'll burn you passing."

O-Line Takes Step Back
Just what the Ravens and their fans didn’t want to see: throwback night for the offensive line. In the first 20 minutes, the first-team unit allowed two sacks of quarterback Joe Flacco and twice failed to get any push on fourth-and-inches, scuttling potential scoring drives. Those were familiar sights in 2013, when the Ravens struggled to protect Flacco and/or run the ball, leading to an offseason overhaul of the line. The sacks weren’t all the line’s fault; Flacco’s receivers couldn’t gain separation and the quarterback held the ball too long. But right tackle Ricky Wagner did give way once, and even when Flacco wasn’t sacked, he was under duress. As for the zone-stretch running game, it went nowhere, producing 17 yards on 12 carries while the starters were on the field. Granted, neither Ray Rice nor Bernard Pierce carried the ball much (Pierce left with a possible concussion) but the holes weren’t there and the line’s performance constituted a step backward. http://www.baltimoreravens.com/news/article-1/The-Breakdown-Eisenbergs-Five-Thoughts-In-Ravens-Win-Over-Redskins/46e9893a-93dc-4e53-8572-d4fabf2a5b36

Glad this happened in the preseason and not week 1 versus the Bengals. Thank you Redskins. Let's get this fixed for the season. The talent is there just need to get the communication right.

I'm not overly concerned by what I saw from the O-Line. We can adjust to over agressive front 7s much better with our personnel now. Juice out in the flat, screens to the backs and slant to Smith Snr looks like it could be a money hot read for Flacco all season long. I would also expect to see the 4th down calls made a little different. On the 1st one we have to hussle to the line and run the sneak and catch the D on their heels. We gave them far too much time to get set and then were forced to run the play outside. On the 2nd one if Taliaferro runs behind the FB it's an easy pickup but he cut too soon and ran back into the teeth of the D. Those are a couple of things that are easy to clean up and a good teaching session for the young RB as well. Kind of exactly what you want from preseason.

You can bet the Steelers and Bengals see that penetration wrecks our running game.

Let us hope it was a blip and not the norm, again. The 3rd game is usually when players are at their best, defensive lines especially. It was not just a stacked box or blitzes, the line got man handled last night, Flacco rarely, if ever, could step into a throw, never ha d aclean pocket. Why? The book ends, both getting bull rushed right back into him along with the rush up the middle. I watched the golden child left tackle hand off a bull rusher to the guard who was also trying to pick up a blitz up the gut, nice job Monroe..... He still can't handle strong defenders....

Go to the run game, what run game? Was it an off night or was it that the Ravens offensive line was slightly ahead of other teams, until last night, meaning this could be the norm, once again... Time will tell, it was only one half of a preseason game, so patience I suppose, but I am still not sold.

Our O line and the Skins got worked last night.

A couple of failed 3rd/4th and <1 yd is all you need to know. We were back to passing on 3rd and 1, knowing we couldn't convert via the run.

Granted both Rice and Pierce were out.

Still, this a very disturbing trend going into the season and against the AFCN.

Sugar coat it if you like, but this team and the O line/running game have a ways to go. Not sure if there's been enough improvement to compete in AFCN. We'll find out in 2 weeks.

The fact that we were down our top 2 running backs had a little to do with it also. and talk about how bad the run game was. Joe was 17 for 23 for 180 and a TD. at halftime. if that's the trade off... then go ahead and stack the box

Yes, but what was the score at half? Also, even when Rice returns, it will be running back by committee and with a bruiser back on 3rd & less than one, they still could not convert. No way Rice makes those conversions.

I am sure everyone we face this year will look at that but you have to kill them with passing game.

I like your thinking.

you have no idea weather Rice would've made either of those first downs and it's not even important actually. The first one was more Pierce fault than the Oline. He shouldn't have gone wide. and I think the second one we got. I have no idea how a play that close wasn't reviewed. he at the very least got back to the line of scrimmage and needing less than a yard, seems it would've been looked at.

my point was they stacked the box and Joe picked them apart. even though he was getting pressure and hit, he still had a very solid half.

This is the part I love, disecting plays, thanks for joining in. On the Pierce play. It was more a case of the play call vs the defense call. That one was a win for the Skins defense. Pierce did what he was suppose to do, read the defensive tackle, if he gets to the inside of the offensive tackle, bounce it outside because either the tight end or the full back will pick up the scraping linebacker.

However, the skins defense played right into that play call. The defensive tackle slanted inside, designed to bait the back into bouncing out. This was a set up play for the weak side backer, because on the snap, rather than scraping, he is to fly to the outside and make the tackle. Even in this case, the offensive line was stymied at the line of scrimmage, got no push at all. Also, the full back failed to make the proper read (the tackle slanting), he should have bounced outside as well and picked up the linebacker.

The other plays, I agree, it should have been measured and I think that was why Harbs was so mad, he expected a measurement and never go one... By rule, they are suppose to measure both in these situations and when asked by the coach.

Even so, he line rarely made room, rarely move the line of scrimmage, they were bull rushed all day by the front of the Skins, man to man. As I said, I hope it was just one of those games/ half, and not a continuation of last year. It really wasn't scheme it was a case of beibeingut physical"ed".
