TV? What the hell is TV? Verizon cut my service off this morning because they suck butt and are completely inept. I'll be missing the Super Bowl tomorrow. Oh yeah, I have no phone service either and get zero cell coverage in my house. By the grace of God do I have Internet.

You all know how much I hate CONcast. But I'm going to have to go back to them. God help me.

NOT CONCAST!!!

NOT THEM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Get AT&T for your phone and internet,

I assume you mean land-line and not wireless? Oh, and Luke Wilson sucks!

Had trouble getting out my door, but once I did, the snow wasn't too bad to clear. Heavy at times, but it came up in big chunks so it made for quicker removal. Thankfully though, I only had to clear a 12x8 area.

What happened with Verizon? My fam has had great success with them at home...

My new place we have Comcast, and I'm not a fan, but it works. Did you hear Comcast is renaming most of its 'products' ... kind of like Verizon has FIOS, Comcast is introducing.... XFinity!

HA

The service at my house is in my sister's name. She's moving into her own place so I'm switching the entire SAME service from her name to my name. No biggie, right?

Called them up on January 27th, told them what I needed. They ran the standard check, treating it like an entirely new account (why? I don't know.) Operator said I'm all straight; service is in my name. I get an email from Verizon saying that the installation for my service is scheduled for February 2nd. Install? What install? I don't need an install. I have all the boxes and everything is hooked up.

I call them. Ask them, WTF?

Well, they have to come out and take the boxes and replace them with new ones so they are in my name. Why can't they just change it in the computer? They know the serial numbers? And what about my DVR? That has two years worth of stuff on it. You can keep the DVR, they tell me. Then why can't I keep the other boxes? Blah blah blah. Bullshit, bullshit, bullshit answers.

I tell them I will not be here on February 2nd and they need to change the install date.

How about the next day, they say. Sometime between 8 am and 5 pm.

No, it needs to be on the weekend. I'm not taking off of work for you to come out and replace something you don't really have to.

OK, they tell. Saturday, February 6th between 8 am and 12 pm. Fine.

January 30th comes around and they cut my phone off. I call them.

Why is my phone off? Because you have an order in to do an install.

The install isn't for another week. Turn the phone back on.

Well, we have to turn the line off before the install in order for you to keep the same number.

THE INSTALL ISN'T FOR ANOTHER WEEK! I HAVE NO CELL SERVICE IN MY HOUSE SO TURN MY FREAKING PHONE BACK ON!

We need to transfer you.

Why is my phone off? We need to transfer you again.

Finally got the phone turned back on. Oh yeah, this was done remotely without anyone coming to my house.

Thursday night I have a message from Verizon saying my install needs to be rescheduled because of the snow storm that is coming, please call them. I call them the next day (yesterday).

Hi! I got a message saying I need to reschedule my install because of the weather. We need to transfer you.

Hi! I got a message saying I need to reschedule my install because of the weather. OK, we need to transfer you again again again.

I NEED TO RESCHEDULE MY FREAKING INSTALLATION DATE AND IF YOU TRANSFER ME AGAIN, I WILL CUSS OUT THE NEXT PERSON WHO ANSWERS!

The next available date is Saturday the 27th. Fine, what do I have to do to make sure my phone, TV and Internet isn't disconnected tomorrow as scheduled.

I can go ahead and change that for you.

Great, because you guys f'ed up the last time and I need my phone and TV this weekend, especially with the snowstorm coming.

Oh, I understand. We're on the Eastern Shore so we're expecting it. You're all set. Your installation has been rescheduled for the 27th and I've moved your disconnect to the day before on the 26th.

Great, thank you.

I wake up at 7 am to NO TV and NO Phone. Somehow, thank God, I have Internet.

I call Verizon at 8 am when they open and I get transfered twice where I'm told that nothing can be done because it has to be done locally and they won't be back until Monday, at the earliest. Asswipes.

So, I'm not going to have phone or TV for the next three days because you Aholes didn't do your job?

Yes, ma'am.

Thanks, I'll be going to CONcast. Click.

For shits and giggles, I'm about to call them again.

Too funny... too frustrating... the crap with cable/internet/phone people is amazing sometimes. My Comcast experiences on customer service have been the same as you described there with Verizon... good luck.

Meanwhile... Crav, at least your car is kind of standing alone. We have to move off our street into lots for snow events - so plows can come through. Great for the road, bad for drivers. Our cars are all in one spot, so if you shovel out (especially if you are early to shovel out), you are picking up snow from around/between/on top of cars... but no where to put it (nothing but other cars nearby!).

The Dec storm it took us an hour to get 1 car out because we had to shovel... walk across street to dump... over and over, for a good 20 sq ft (2-3 feet deep = 60 cu feet!). 2nd car was easier thanks to luck of not as many cars nearby. Nonetheless, a pain. This time - I think awful all around. AHHHH!

I recently switched from DirectTV to Verizon. I saved a ton a money but Verizon's customer service is terrible. I especially hate the fact that you can only reach their customer service between 8 and 6, so if there is a problem with your tv or internet after 6pm you have to wait until the next day. Direct TV's customer service people are ALWAYS available. I never had a problem with reaching them.

Hey Dc, the December storm? HA the Mrs went to work, against my protests, well she couldnt make it home the snows were over the bumper, so it sat, 1/2 a mile from here on the side of the road..The plow guys had a blast plowing the car in during the night..Took me 2 1/2 hrs the next day for my son and I to shovel her out.

Oh I remember those days when I lived in the city and we had to shovel out our street, no city truck would dare come up our street. When it was too much snow and we couldnt toss any more into our yards, we would take the manhole covers off in the street and fill those up..Good Times

OTR, the problem with DirectTV's CS is yes they are always available, but I never get any satisfaction, or I get shoddy workmanship. Their CS fails to meet my needs. I live on the border, I can only get local channels from Harrisburgh, Im 60 miles from Harrisburgh..One time I called and had a real cool CS person that understood where I was coming from, and he switched me to Baltimore locals, at a flip of a switch..But then we had a power outage last summer, and when it was restored, DirectTV rebooted and I had the PA locals back, I called and complained, and Im constantly told, my zipcode dictates where my locals beam from..Its a PITA, I dont want traffic reports from the PA Turnpike, or rte 30 or I83 thru York...

But the Perks from DirectTV, if you are a continual customer for 3 years, I got 2 free DVR boxes, and a free upgrade to HD, which Im so loving, Man I wish the PORN was in HD beerchug.gif

Most school systems have already called tomorrow... Balto Co is the one lagging, they said they'd call at 4pm... apparently all school equipment is in use by the SHA and Counties for roads, so they don't even have equipment to clear their own paths.

Kent Co and Montgomery Co have already closed for Tuesday as well... so that tells you where we're headed.

And we've got 6-12" more coming on Tuesday night.

Swell

About 28 inches in Chaz Village. Main streets like St. Paul, Calvert, and N. Charles are passable. Side streets (mine) aren't.

Donna's Restaurant in CV was open last night, which was unexpected but appreciated.

The local grocery stores were pilfered by Friday morning...who hoards salad-in-a-bag during a nasty snow storm?

I had to go in to work yesterday (healthcare) and know that the snow later this week won't affect my work pattern.

Wishing for a trip back to SC really soon

The side streets around my area are filled with snow. What's funny is I see people shoveling their cars out on these small streets. Where are they going to go after they remove the snow and pile it in the street? lol

The plow is just going to pack them back in IF it can get up those streets.

We shoveled our street out on our own. There were like 20 people just shoveling/using pickups to flatten snow and get it out.

Also: SC, how've you been? When did you move up here anyway?

No poop! What's going on? If you work in DC we should definitely get lunch or something. No reason not to. Just don't wear that black and gold crap! :)

Single lane cleared on my street with a wall of snow on the sides. I can probably get out but I'm not sure about getting back up the hill. It looks icey too.

No way I'm going to work today....looks like none of my neighbors are trying to get out...
