papasmurfbell Posted October 26, 2014 Posted October 26, 2014 Yep. Also cities that host the SB will have to have a game of theirs go to London within I think 5 yrs. So fans will lose a game. It is funny that some PSL contracts state that the team is obligated to play 10 games in the stadium. Quote
papasmurfbell Posted October 26, 2014 Posted October 26, 2014 This is to build up the fan base slowly. also to ease US fans into having a team there. Quote
JPPT1974 Posted October 26, 2014 Posted October 26, 2014 Why not other countries besides London? Let's try other countries besides London Goodell! Quote
papasmurfbell Posted October 26, 2014 Posted October 26, 2014 London will be the first. I will not be shocked to see Warsaw being next. Football is growing fast there. Quote

papasmurfbell Posted October 26, 2014 Posted October 26, 2014 I would expect the Ravens to be heading over before to long. It will probably be an away game. Quote
RavenMad Posted October 27, 2014 Posted October 27, 2014 I would expect the Ravens to be heading over before to long. It will probably be an away game. Fingers crossed the Ravens are in 1 of the 5 next season and I'll be there. I'm still not convinced a London franchise will work but if they sell out 5 games next season and then 8 the following season you can probably expect to see a London franchise in 2017. London Jaguars come on down. Quote

papasmurfbell Posted November 8, 2014 Posted November 8, 2014 http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2014/11/08/khan-hopes-to-extend-but-not-expand-london-commitment/ Khan hopes to extend, but not expand, London commitmentOn Sunday, the Jaguars will play the second of four annual games in London. Owner Shad Khan hopes the arrangement lasts beyond 2017.“Obviously, it depends on the league, but if you were asking me today, I would say, ‘Yes,’” Khan told a small group of reporters, via Ryan O’Halloran of the Florida Times-Union. “That decision is at least a year away or more.”That decision likely won’t include playing more than one home game per year in London.“We have to look at where we are as a franchise in Jacksonville, how many tickets we’re selling and what are the [fan and business] engagements,” Khan said. “Everything is geared toward stabilizing the franchise in Jacksonville.”Of course, that doesn’t mean the Jaguars can’t return a second time in a given year as the “visiting” team. There has been talk of that from time to time, and if the NFL opts for the cereal box variety pack approach to the London series, it could make sense. If, alternatively, the NFL ultimately moves a team to London, it won’t make sense for Jacksonville to play there at all, unless and until the Jags appear on the London team’s home schedule.Or unless and until the team that moves is the Jaguars. At this point, there appears to be a very low possibility of that happening. Quote
papasmurfbell Posted November 10, 2014 Posted November 10, 2014 http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2014/11/10/clark-hunt-its-a-question-of-when-not-if-you-lose-a-home-game-to-london/ Clark Hunt: It’s a question of when, not if, you lose a home game to LondonThe NFL announced that the Chiefs will be the “home” team for one of the 2015 season’s three games in London, a decision that was met with hostility from Chiefs fans who have filled Arrowhead Stadium for years and will get one less chance to enjoy their team at home next season.According to Chiefs chairman Clark Hunt, fans of other teams that seem like unlikely prospects to lose home games should prepare for the same fate. Hunt, the chair of the NFL’s International Committee, said that he expects the majority of teams in the league will lose a home game and that he viewed it as “a question of when” his team would join that list.““There’s never a good time to take a home game anyway from Arrowhead. But for a lot of reasons I felt this was the time to do it if we were going to do it,” Hunt said, via ESPN.com. “First of all, we’ve got a year where we’re going to have a number of non-Chiefs events. We’ve announced one of the concerts already. We have more announcements coming. Second, we have a head coach [Andy Reid] who is very, very good on the road. His record both with us and with the Eagles is very strong on the road. That played into the decision from a competitive standpoint.”Reid won another road game on Sunday as the Chiefs outlasted the Bills to move to 6-3 on the year.Hunt mentioned that going to London is now a prerequisite for hosting a Super Bowl, something he didn’t say the Chiefs were actively pursuing but he didn’t rule it out should the league opt to return to a venue with the potential for bad weather. He also said that going in 2015 would leave home schedules untouched for several years, something that isn’t likely to be the case for other teams with strong home support as the NFL expands the net of teams that will be calling Wembley Stadium their home. deeshopper Posted November 10, 2014 Posted November 10, 2014 And they'll still end up paying for that game. The NFL is going more and more money crazy. Quote
deeshopper Posted November 10, 2014 Posted November 10, 2014 Also, this: Hunt mentioned that going to London is now a prerequisite for hosting a Super Bowl, something he didn’t say the Chiefs were actively pursuing but he didn’t rule it out should the league opt to return to a venue with the potential for bad weather. Which should pretty much rule out all the cold-weather teams without a dome, except it won't. Quote
papasmurfbell Posted November 10, 2014 Posted November 10, 2014 I don't think weather should play any roll in getting the SB. Do you have the needed facilities? If so you should be able to get the game. It should be rotated around like the All Star game. Quote
deeshopper Posted November 10, 2014 Posted November 10, 2014 I agree, but that isn't what they've done. And so by making playing in London a condition of hosting the Super Bowl, then no cold weather team should have to play there since they wouldn't be considered to host the game anyway. Quote
