thundercleetz Posted June 21, 2015 Posted June 21, 2015 Blew a 7-0 lead, fell behind 9-7, won the game 12-9. Even after going up 7-0 I had a feeling it wouldn't be easy. Nonetheless, enormous win! We have historically played terrible in TO, so going up there and winning a series is big momentum. Hardy and Flaherty got big hits in the ninth, but the inning was made possible by Reimold and Davis. Each guy worked a walk from an 0-2 count. Tillman's play is very concerning: @BaltimoreLuke: Chris Tillman's 2015 ERA is currently 5.97. For context, Ubaldo Jimenez had a 4.63 ERA at this point last year. #Orioles Hopefully AJ gets better over the off day. Quote
Spen Posted June 21, 2015 Posted June 21, 2015 Boy thank goodness we didn't start Chen! Crazy game, fun weekend. Quote
dc. Posted June 26, 2015 Posted June 26, 2015 Jays, Rays and Yanks all still playing well... Yanks fading, though, a bit. Still not convinced of Jays pitching, but their bats are unreal. Rays... I think will become the Rays again soon. Quote
thundercleetz Posted June 26, 2015 Posted June 26, 2015 When is Chen coming back? He's rejoining the team today and starting. Schoop is back in Baltimore as well, he was doing field work with Brady. He also worked with Brady during rehab. Schoop hasn't been activated yet but he hit three home runs and two doubles in six games at Bowie. He's ready to go and will give our lineup a nice boost. Quote
dc. Posted June 27, 2015 Posted June 27, 2015 Flahertys bat had actually been very alive the last few weeks, but Schoop will be a lovely righty addition. More excited about the utility flexibility it gives our infield and even DH slot as they don't like Paredes batting right. The question again becomes who goes away? Lough, Pearce, Young... ? Parmelee? Quote
Spen Posted June 28, 2015 Posted June 28, 2015 Ubaldo was excellent today. 1st game of a double header and no one even had to warm up until the 8th. Fantastic. Quote
thundercleetz Posted June 28, 2015 Posted June 28, 2015 Ubaldo was excellent today. 1st game of a double header and no one even had to warm up until the 8th. Fantastic.Ubaldo was marvelous today. His two-seamer/split finger combo was unhittable today. Ubaldo was able to keep his pitch count low, which is a rarity for him. Hats off to Brady for working with Ubaldo this past offseason and shoring up those mechanics. And props to Ubaldo for putting in the work and being humble to criticism. Even last year when Ubaldo was struggling, all reports say he was the most positive guy in the clubhouse and just wants to win. Love seeing a guy like that do well. By the way, Paredes is on a tear again. I love the way the guy hits the ball. Quote
thundercleetz Posted June 29, 2015 Posted June 29, 2015 First place! Huge rebound start by Tillman. Let's keep the Walking Dead topic going! Quote
dc. Posted June 29, 2015 Posted June 29, 2015 18-5 streak to get us there. Pitching on fire. Bats lighting up. Quote
Spen Posted June 29, 2015 Posted June 29, 2015 (edited) I wonder if we ever shut a trash out both games of a double header before. Pretty impressive day all around. Edited June 29, 2015 by Spen Quote
varaven45 Posted June 29, 2015 Author Posted June 29, 2015 Spen, i understand the last time the Os did this was 1974 ironically against the tribe. Great sweep ! What is truly amazing is that the O's are third in the major leagues in scoring. 1 Quote
cravnravn Posted June 29, 2015 Posted June 29, 2015 How bout that, just like that first place O' s Quote
varaven45 Posted June 30, 2015 Author Posted June 30, 2015 Back to walking dead tonight - hopefully just a night. Hopefully, all other AL East leaders lose tonight and we get back on track tomorrow night Quote
dc. Posted June 30, 2015 Posted June 30, 2015 Strike zone was abysmal - Pearce got hired twice. Not excusing the entire game, but just a thought. Quote
varaven45 Posted July 1, 2015 Author Posted July 1, 2015 Doing the Texas 2 step the last two nights. Time for SP get out of its funk and get back on track. Quote
thundercleetz Posted July 2, 2015 Posted July 2, 2015 Can anyone explain to me the logic of Crush in RF and Parmelee at first? I was under the impression Crush was a good defensive 1B and Parmelee is a natural right fielder? Just curious, seems to be working well. Quote
dc. Posted July 2, 2015 Posted July 2, 2015 I always thought Parmelee was a natural 1B who the O's converted the some OF in the minors. Crush is a very good defensive 1B - or at least was in years past, I think he's diminished a bit. But he is also a decent OF with an arm. I am not sure of Parmelee's OF prospects, which I assumed were the reason for the choice. Quote
dc. Posted July 2, 2015 Posted July 2, 2015 By the way ... Crush should have had the home-run that was reviewed. I was at the game, so not sure how it showed on TV, but he was totally LOST in the OF in that moment. Not unlike the previous inning where he managed to nab a ball that he had horribly misplayed... Quick reference check. Parmelee came up as a 1B in Minny but did play a decent amount of RF. But I wonder how much of them trying to move him was because of Justin Mourneau having 1B locked down for them at the time. In early years he played most games at 1B and even in 2011 played more than 100 at 1B to only 30 in RF. Quote
cravnravn Posted July 2, 2015 Posted July 2, 2015 Nice outting by Chen, retiring 13 of his last 14 he faced Quote
varaven45 Posted July 2, 2015 Author Posted July 2, 2015 We got us a race in the AL east - what 1 game separating 4 teams ? Should be an exciting race as we hit the dog days. Quote
