thundercleetz Posted December 15, 2008 Posted December 15, 2008 If the call on the field was a touchdown, then it would have been a good challenege call. However, there was not conclusive evidence that Holmes had possession when his feet were in the endzone. Quote
OutsideRzAcE Posted December 15, 2008 Posted December 15, 2008 Page 776 of the rules digest in the NFL fact book reads: "A player with the ball in his possession scores a touchdown when the ball is on, above or over the goal line." Especially when you consider he had to overturn the call on the field...it was inconclusive at best. That's the refs for you. We always get the short end of the calls against the Steelers. The 3rd and 1 uphold was just as ridiculous. Quote
ForceEight Posted December 15, 2008 Posted December 15, 2008 No, the 3rd and 1 call was MORE ridiculous. It wasn't even CLOSE. The Chargers have Ed Hochuli. We have Walt Coleman (you know, when we don't have Mike Carey). Absolutely ludicrous. Quote
cravnravn Posted December 15, 2008 Author Posted December 15, 2008 It was a bullshit f*cking call that cost us the game Quote
RavensNest8483 Posted December 15, 2008 Posted December 15, 2008 It was a bullshit f*cking call that cost us the game No offensive passing game and lack of a pass rush or good corners for that matter is what cost us the game. Quote
cravnravn Posted December 15, 2008 Author Posted December 15, 2008 It will cost us our season.. Quote
thundercleetz Posted December 15, 2008 Posted December 15, 2008 It will cost us our season.. I would not go that far, we are still very much alive in the playoff race. Quote
RavensNest8483 Posted December 15, 2008 Posted December 15, 2008 just gotta win the next 2 games. Flacco played terrible today, partly due to the horrible and predictable playcalling. Why does everyone play scared against the steelers? No gadget plays. We took one legit shot deep, which mason should have caught for a td, all damn game. We need fabian if we have any chance of beating dallas. Quote
vmax Posted December 15, 2008 Posted December 15, 2008 That play was at my end zone and the ball definately was not over. This is a hard loss for me to take. I agree with you RavensNest...Cam laid an egg today, Flacco was off and in the end...the D let them drive the field for the winning score. Settling for 3's also klilled the Ravens. Quote
Spen Posted December 15, 2008 Posted December 15, 2008 If it would have been called a TD on the field I would have been OK with it. I cannot see anything that would lead them to overturn the call on the field. I am not sure it cost them the game though, I have no confidence that if the Steelers kick the FG that even if the Ravens get the ball first they could have done anything with it. Quote

faaaaaaq Posted December 15, 2008 Posted December 15, 2008 Ravens Get Screwed Florio is a Pittsburgh fan so you know if he's saying we got screwed, we got screwed! Quote
Spen Posted December 15, 2008 Posted December 15, 2008 I am not sure it cost them the game though [/i What the fuck game were you watching?? The same fucking one you were. What leads you to fucking think the Ravens could score any more points that day before the Steelers could? Especially after watching the Steelers drive 90 yards up the field. Do I think the Ravens should have had the opportunity to win in OT? Yes, do I think it was automatic they would win? No. So therefore I dont think it cost them the game. Sorry if thats not fucking good enough for you. Quote

Sorry if thats not fucking good enough for you. I agree with you, as much as everyone wants to blame the refs, this game should not have come down to 2 calls. If our D was so good they shouldnt have let pitt march 90 yards, if our offense is supposedly better then they would score tds when given the ball inside the 20. We laid an egg as a coachin staff and as an offense and then kept our reputation as a D that chokes under pressure. We better get after it next week or romo will obliterate our D Quote
thundercleetz Posted December 15, 2008 Posted December 15, 2008 This offense will not be able to do anything until we get a receiver over 6' who can stretch the field and go up and get those deep balls. Mason had two deep balls that a Moss/TO would have caught. If there was ever a need for this team, it will be a big, playmaking WR. Quote

That will make our running game even better when they have to keep a safety deep. Quote
Guest BallTMore Posted December 15, 2008 Posted December 15, 2008 I agree. No excuses. The Steelers finished the game, we did not. Get ready to get even more ill, because I believe the Steelers are the best team in the AFC. Quote

vmax Posted December 15, 2008 Posted December 15, 2008 Get ready to get even more ill, because I believe the Steelers are the best team in the AFC. Well...it certainly isn't the Ravens. They have a way to go yet. Quote

STLRaven Posted December 15, 2008 Posted December 15, 2008 No, the 3rd and 1 call was MORE ridiculous. It wasn't even CLOSE. 50 drunks in a bar would agree -- he didn't get the yard. No way, no how. It lead to 3 points on the drive. The TD call was fucking stupid. It lead to 7 points. Quote
OutsideRzAcE Posted December 15, 2008 Posted December 15, 2008 The refs did screw the Ravens, it's not an excuse. I agree the Ravens themselves share the blame for putting themselves in a position to be screwed by the refs, but at the end of the day, they still got unfairly screwed. I mean overturning a close call like that - come on. The Ravens are almost always on the wrong end of these controversial calls and it comes down to our image. Harbaugh said he wants to change our image - he says we shouldn't have to be the "bad guys." I hope he is serious about the because i'm tired of it costing us with the officals. I give Roethlisberger credit, he is good at finding a way to win - he has done it since his rookie season. I hope Flacco develops that "clutch-winning" touch soon. I believe he has the potential. I dont think the Ravens are that level yet, but they may not be far off. I would give the Colts the edge over the Steelers. I'd certainly rather see the Steelers a third time than see the Colts in the playoffs, which is why if we get a wildcard (hopefully), it may end up being a better thing for the Ravens. If we do well in the playoffs we would hypothetically avoid the Colts until the Championship game. Quote
