Tornado700
I can't watch much more of this. Lamar Jackson at # 32? Wasted pick if they are really interested in replacing Flacco. And then they keep trading backwards. WHY??? Maybe Ozzie and Co. believe that real talent comes from that 7th round. They must because it looks like we're going to get about 6 or 7 picks there. I'm completely baffled here.I'm not saying that Jackson is not an NFL QB. He's at most a back up.
vmax
Well...we've been watching this team disintegrate for the past 2 years. It burned my eyes and hurt my brain. This is a great draft.
tsylvester
This is the worst draft iv ever seen, ever.
vmax
The value in this years draft is in the mid rounds. Not that many immediate starters so why waste 2nd round or early 3rd picks. This team need a lot of new blood and Ozzie's getting it through free agency and the draft.
oldno82
I'm with you Max. This was a deep draft but not a wide one. I don't have any qualms about what they've done. There were a lot of holes to fill on this team and they've made some progress. Still need a lot more though and that's why the emphasis has been on getting more picks. The talent value the Ravens needed; offensive line, wide out, tight end, inside linebacker, was in the first 3 rounds. They back loaded this draft, trying to save 2 cents per gallon of gas by driving 50 miles to a station selling it cheaper than everyone else. There is no significant monitary difference between drafting Hurst at 22 or at 26: none. They wanted Moore at 26, but they got out drafted and lost him, so they went into panic mode and took Hurst when they maybe should have taken Ridley. I bet that was the debate that took them so long to make the pick. There is no "value" when you move down 2 spots in the 3rd and take Brown; none. No advantage to taking another tight end I don't care what their board said, when you need at the very least a back up center; and there was a starting center left on the board when they took another tight end who can't block. There is no significant monetary advantage to drafting players in the 4th or 5th round; none. It is clear, they got too cute, the way they rank players on their board is all messed up, it has been for years. Thus, missing the playoffs 3 straight years, drafting at 16 two years in a row. This draft may very well go down as one of the worst in franchise history. Oh and they gave up a 2nd round pick next year as well.... varaven45
Agree wholeheartedly on: The talent value the Ravens needed; offensive line, wide out, tight end, inside linebacker, was in the first 3 rounds. Thus far, we whiffed on WR and ILB but did get 2 TEs and T. And we picked up A QB. Time will tell on all these guys. One more day to draft our needs - WR and ILB and Center.Well have to hope we find more diamonds in the rough. For what its worth, I havent figured out this teams drafting rationale the last several years. Its some where between schizophrenic and reactionary, coupled with head scratching moves that are supposedly designed to save money. And the fan base keeps saying that we draft for need ? I dont understand it but thats why the FO gets paid the big bucks. In the meantime, our lack of consistently successful drafts have hurt this team over the last several years. And on the good old adage, you reap what you sow, we have and will continue to see the results play out on the field. Hence, the multiple mediocre seasons since our SB win. Im hoping this last days draft bears some good fruit but given our track record the last several years, one can expect more head scratching picks today. Hopefully, Im wrong and we light it up. Ozzie, good luck on your last draft and hope you/we go out with a bang !
vmax
I'm fine with us disagreeing. Everybody has valid opinions. If I want to put on my fault finding glasses then I could tear down all of these selections. I look at this draft as selecting very good raw material to develop into future stars and solid contributing starters.Brown is a great example. He's just as raw as his father was coming into the NFL and his father developed into a monster. So will Jr. Ozzie gave the coaches and trainers excellent raw material goods to work on and develop. There is nothing like one huge, nasty O line beating up and wearing down a defensive line. The Ravens took another step in that direction. It will be exciting to watch him grow into the player that his father was. Today is round 4. It will be like grocery shopping at Whole Foods without the Whole Foods prices. For the record, I'm loving this draft for what I can see this team becoming moving forward. By opening day, a lot of lockers will be cleared out of players who made this team average or below. Yeah 82, they're getting more picks, after the other teams have passed on them. We are going to be left with ground beef when all the steaks are gone. We are going to be left with ground beef when all the steaks are gone.We really won't know anything until these guys start playing. There's no doubt they've excited the fan base at least initially.FWIW the sports media has shown the Ravens' draft a lot of love.
Tornado700
82- I want this team to win so I really hope I'm wrong with my C rating. And, you are correct, 1 or 2 years and we are going to know who pans out and who doesn't. I just don't think we have any future pro bowlers in this group. Time will tell. papasmurfbell
It is going to be a long run of bad football. They have been disintegrating for several yrs now.
tsylvester
That is what happens when you let a has been in the front office stick around too long. Poor free agent pick ups, no line help, bad contracts, poor drafts. People called me crazy four years ago when I said Ozzie needs to go, well.. Here you go... Ps, I am nutz, just not crazy.
