vmax Posted December 17, 2018 Posted December 17, 2018 Anything can happen in the NFL but the most likely scenaro for the Ravens to make the playoffs is to win their final 2 games. They'll need more than 20 points Saturday night. Winning the division is a more clear cut path: win out and hope the Steelers lose to the Saints in New Orleans. The Ravens could also be eliminated from playoff contention next week if they lose and the Colts, the Titans and the Steelers all win. In the end, Baltimore’s Week 16 matchup with the Chargers is now essential if the Ravens want to avoid falling just short of the postseason once again....https://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/nfl/with-steelers-win-the-ravens-will-likely-have-to-win-out-to-make-playoffs/ar-BBR3GZk?ocid=U508DHP Quote
OutsideRzAcE Posted December 17, 2018 Posted December 17, 2018 Ahh what the hell the Chargers are due for a loss right? Quote
vmax Posted December 17, 2018 Author Posted December 17, 2018 (edited) Yes.They came close with the Saints and Chiefs. They held the #1 offense to 156 yards passing Sunday. The way I see it is the Chargers last played on Thursday night, so all those extra days off will cause them to forget how to play football. 6. Baltimore Ravens (8-6)FPI playoff odds: 32 percentThe Dolphins' loss in Minnesota narrowed the race for the No. 6 spot a bit. The Ravens are now fending off two other 8-6 teams -- the Colts and Titans -- and hold the tiebreaker among that trio. But look out. While the Ravens have a cross-country trip ahead to play the Chargers in Week 16, the Colts will host the 5-9 Giants and the Titans will host the 7-7 Redskins. That's why FPI is giving better playoff odds to the Colts (42 percent) and Titans (39 percent).Next up: at Los Angeles ChargersIn the hunt: Indianapolis Colts (8-6), Tennessee Titans (8-6), Miami Dolphins (7-7), Cleveland Browns (6-7-1)....http://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/25529293/2018-nfl-afc-nfc-playoff-picture-bracket-schedule-super-bowl-matchups-week-15 Edited December 17, 2018 by vmax Quote
varaven45 Posted December 17, 2018 Posted December 17, 2018 Ravens PO chances: Slim and none, and slim left town Quote
GrubberRaven Posted December 17, 2018 Posted December 17, 2018 Same story, different year...hate saying it. Quote
varaven45 Posted December 17, 2018 Posted December 17, 2018 Cleveland game will be a a helluva game. Lamar vs Baker show ? Should be fun. Papa, sounds like you are on the Brown's bandwagon too. Brownies D has some play makers, Miles Garret, Jabrille Peppers. A couple of years back before the 2017 draft, I was clamoring for the ravens to draft Peppers. You and a few others dissed me and said he was overrated. We got Bobby Humphrey - who is dang good - but Peppers looks like a huge playmaker.Time will tell. Too bad we dont have both !!!! Meanwhile, Browns - Ravens + Baker vs Lamar could be a fun rival. GrubberRaven Posted December 17, 2018 Posted December 17, 2018 There's a changing of the guard coming...bout time...I'm tired of Ben/Brady Quote
oldno82 Posted December 17, 2018 Posted December 17, 2018 The Browns are a franchise definitely on the way up. The Bengals on the way down. The Ravens are treading water Right now..jury is still out on the Steelers.. If we hadn’t had Lamar we’d be heading for bottom feeders. Quote
papasmurfbell Posted December 17, 2018 Posted December 17, 2018 Cle has been winning a good amount since Hue was fired. I like how they are playing ball. Quote
vmax Posted December 17, 2018 Author Posted December 17, 2018 This is a clear article on the Ravens playoff chances....they have to win out IMO. The Ravens’ season could be over before “60 Minutes” airs Sunday night. If the Ravens lose to the Chargers, the Steelers beat the Saints, the Colts beat the Giants, and the Titans beat the Redskins, there would be no path forward. An AFC North title would be out of reach, and the Colts-Titans matchup would effectively be a play-in game....https://www.baltimoresun.com/sports/ravens/bs-sp-ravens-afc-playoffs-wild-card-20181217-story.html Thank you Jonas Quote
papasmurfbell Posted December 17, 2018 Posted December 17, 2018 The Ravens schedule is harder this yr and they didn't do enough to get better. Quote
vmax Posted December 17, 2018 Author Posted December 17, 2018 The Ravens schedule is harder this yr and they didn't do enough to get better. Are you sure? Quote
OutsideRzAcE Posted December 18, 2018 Posted December 18, 2018 Same story, different year...hate saying it.Im not so sure. A lot of collapses with Flacco under center but this is a different team with Lamar and the dominant run game. There arent as many 3 and outs and with the exception of KC when they get the lead they are better able to close out teams. The D was already doing a better job closing out teams with Wink and his aggressive style has fit perfectly with the new ball control offense. I dont know if we beat the chargers but I think they play them as tough as KC and they nearly beat them. Quote
papasmurfbell Posted December 18, 2018 Posted December 18, 2018 At some point they will start taking the run game away. Then it will be up to Lamar to throw them to a win. Quote
vmax Posted December 23, 2018 Author Posted December 23, 2018 What seemed impossible is possible. 6. Baltimore Ravens (9-6)FPI playoff chances: 79.7 percentThe Ravens were put under severe pressure Saturday afternoon by the Tennessee Titans, who defeated the Washington Redskins for their ninth victory of the season. Had the Ravens lost, the sixth seed would have become a two-team battle between the Titans and Indianapolis Colts. As it is, the Ravens wouldn't be able to clinch a playoff spot until Week 17. It's worth noting that the AFC North crown is still within reach. According to ESPN Stats & Information, the Ravens would win the division a victory in Week 17 AND a Steelers loss in one of their final two games. 4. Pittsburgh Steelers (8-5-1)FPI playoff chances: 45.5 percentThe Ravens' win over the Chargers raises the urgency for Pittsburgh. If the Steelers lose one of their final two games, and the Ravens win at home in Week 17, they'll fall out of the AFC North lead. With a 9-6-1 record, they'll have to hope that there are no 10-6 teams to beat them out for sixth seed. The prospects of the Steelers missing the playoffs are suddenly quite real............http://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/25582390/2018-nfl-afc-nfc-playoff-picture-bracket-schedule-super-bowl-matchups-week-16 Quote
papasmurfbell Posted December 23, 2018 Posted December 23, 2018 Pit has Cincy weak 17 which I see as a W. Indy plays NYG today which I also see as a W. Indy and Ten play weak 17 and they will both have tied records then and be waiting for an L from bmore. So don't pull what they did against the Browns earlier this season or they are out. Quote
