tsylvester Posted November 11, 2019 Posted November 11, 2019 Well look what we have here, seven victories in nine tries; quite pleasant one could say. First, my apologies for stealing some from one of the greatest book & movie series, ever, I shall try to do justice. When we last saw our wandering group of misfits, they were toiling through games last season. Then EDC the grey, came about an unscrupulous plan; how to retake the mountain that housed the Silver Bettty. Oh our hero would need a tribe, a tested, valiant, brave bunch who would fight till the end, even their own. He would entrust them to a man, not one from the world of man coaches, no, he would have to be a special teamer..... This man would send out word, of what it would take, what he would need to take on a such a challenging quest. Word went out far & wide, some laughed, others scoffed, few came. But EDC the Grey would see his reach catch just the right sort. The special teamer saw that he had men who were brave, loyal & unrelenting; he could ask for nothing more. He brought this brood of unearthly talent together after a rough & dirty fight to start their quest that saw them lose as many battles with Orks, Gobblins and the like, as they won before their journey would truly begin. They joined together, backed each his brother and now sit poised to take on another foe, perhaps their greatest challenge yet; will they succeed in this stop along their journey? We shall not know just yet, but one thing is true; it will test their metal, sear their brotherhood, and prepare them for the battles ahead. Yes this journey has just begun, just where it will take them, only time knows, and it will not tell us easily, we will have to beat it out of time... Quote
oldno82 Posted November 11, 2019 Posted November 11, 2019 Good stuff, Tsyl! Interesting to see that book and movie series make it to our forum, too! Quote
vmax Posted November 11, 2019 Posted November 11, 2019 This is an Unexpected Journey. I hope it follows the script. Do you think Lamar has already found the Ring and slips it on from time to time during the game? A lot of defensive players think that. Quote
tsylvester Posted November 12, 2019 Author Posted November 12, 2019 Well Lamar is not Gullum nor Thoren's daddy who went madd... But he might be part Elf lord the way he slips through defenses, jumps over houses and can take a punch... Quote
cravnravn Posted November 12, 2019 Posted November 12, 2019 (edited) Here's to hoping journey ends in Miami.. Edited November 12, 2019 by cravnravn Quote

vmax Posted November 13, 2019 Posted November 13, 2019 Wow! From USA Today.... Quote NFL power rankings, post-Week 10 edition: 1. Ravens (3): League's most explosive offense — and new MVP front runner Lamar Jackson (?) — deserves the accolades. But ascending defense first to record TDs of 65-plus yards in three straight games since 1970 merger. 2. Patriots (4): Super Bowl LII rematch in Philadelphia looms all the more important with Baltimore now one game from moving into top slot of AFC's projected playoff field. 3. 49ers (2): Gut-wrenching way to suffer season's first defeat, but don't forget San Francisco didn't get help from injured George Kittle or Emmanuel Sanders. 4. Saints (1): They laid egg size of a New Orleans hangover Sunday, but let's not read too much into it. Nine points their fewest scored at home with Drew Brees at helm. 5. Seahawks (9): Upended Niners courtesy of their most impressive performance of uneven season. Acquisitions of Josh Gordon and Quandre Diggs could really help team that needed play makers beyond Russell Wilson.........https://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/nfl/2019/11/12/week-10-nfl-power-rankings-49-ers-saints-ravens-patriots/2571759001/ Homer that I am, I wouldn't rank the Ravens that high. We can't play the "No Respect" card. Now if they win Sunday???? Quote
tsylvester Posted November 13, 2019 Author Posted November 13, 2019 Love the press, but when the enemy sees your torches from a mile away, they set traps to slow you down, to seperate your archers from the trebuche pullers and dissent sets in.... We must see that "The Beacons of Minas Tirith!" so that our help will arrive! What will Gondor answer!?! Quote
varaven45 Posted November 14, 2019 Posted November 14, 2019 Agreed; we are ranked too high. Rather be the hunter than hunted. Its all good though - nobody really watches these rankings, right ? Right ? Hopefully, this team maintains its edge and sense of urgency Quote
tsylvester Posted November 14, 2019 Author Posted November 14, 2019 EDC the grey wondered who could join this clan and make them stronger? He reached out earlier, but one could not feel his sword was right for the clan. Then master Peko saw the clan fight and he knew, yes, his sword would be right for their fight. He waited and hoped EDC the grey would send word, then suddenly the falcon swooped down with scroll. https://www.baltimoreravens.com/news/domata-peko-and-justin-ellis-thrilled-to-join-hot-ravens-squad Domata Peko worked out for the Ravens a couple weeks ago and got an offer, but didn’t accept. At that time, he didn’t feel like it was the right fit. Instead, Peko bided his time hanging out in California, coaching his kid’s youth football team and using team drills as a way to stay in shape. Then he watched Lamar Jackson and the Ravens beat the undefeated New England Patriots and blow out the Cincinnati Bengals. “Just watching them play and how it’s exciting it’s been, I was like, ‘Man, did I make a mistake?’” Peko said Wednesday before his first practice. “I prayed about it. I felt like God opened the door again for me. Once he opened that door again, I said I got to go. “I get to play with Lamar Jackson. That’s freaking awesome. This guy is unreal. He’s something you haven’t seen in a while. He brings some excitement to the game and he’s probably one of the most exciting quarterbacks to watch right now. It’s fun to be a part of it.” 1 Quote
oldno82 Posted November 15, 2019 Posted November 15, 2019 Tsyl, if you keep this up, I'm going to have to read the book again and see the movie again! Quote
tsylvester Posted November 15, 2019 Author Posted November 15, 2019 Lol, I have the complete set, both trilogies, and surround sound... The best way to watch those movies... Quote
tsylvester Posted November 16, 2019 Author Posted November 16, 2019 As our story unfolds, we find our clan of misfit warriors in a crucial battle. The eyes of the world will be on them, including the eye of Sauron, lord of Mordor. Our warriors must be careful not to stare into his gaze, or risk being overtaken by his empty promises, giving in to being someone they are not as it happened to Saruman, the white wizzard. They must stay focussed on the task at hand, stay true to the battle plan, trust each other to be where they should, do their duty. A victory will be another step closer to returning the kings, to fellowship with the ring, to the lowly moutain where the final battle will be fought. A loss here will teach them where they went wrong, it could either strengthen them or tear them a part. They must stay the course and not let Sauron get his grips on them......... Quote
oldno82 Posted November 16, 2019 Posted November 16, 2019 Like i said...it's gonna be tough. It's almost like the Ravens vs. Ravens...teams are very similar. I'll go out on the limb and say a late FG by Tucker wins it 31-30. Quote
tsylvester Posted November 18, 2019 Author Posted November 18, 2019 Sauron, lord of Mordor, tried his best to distract our clan of misfits. But they stayed grounded and steady, then thry took flight. They took all of their enemy's fight, in the end, Sauron's army had nothing left but to lick their ,wounds, collect their wounded and slink back to whence they came. Now the challenge really begins for our warriors. Sauron will use all at his disposal to distract our clan, to steal their hearts desire. Can they fight off their conceit, their thirst for personal glory? Keep the dreams of their clan, at reach? Will their glory take them over or will they build on it, let it fuel them for the battles with Sauron's armies that lie in wait for them? There is a long, tiring journey ahead, now that their skill with blade & bow is know, they will get their foe's best. Sauron will tell the caln to celebrate their win, all while trying to get under their skin. He wants them to think that they cannot be beat, so that later he can pull the rug from under their feet. You see Sauron wants them to think of them selves, the same way that he deceived the woodland elves. But if our clan can stay focussed on task, when the war is over, they will be raising a glass. RavenMad Posted November 19, 2019 Posted November 19, 2019 As long as Lamar ends the season with the one ring to rule them all, I’m good with this analogy. Quote
tsylvester Posted November 19, 2019 Author Posted November 19, 2019 Good to see you Mad, the ring would be great, I am happy with growth. I was figurring on 8-8, 9-7 this year, so 8-2 now, the rest is gravy on my taters with some corn mixed in for the rest of the way. Healthy & growth for Lamar & the receivers.... Quote
tsylvester Posted November 25, 2019 Author Posted November 25, 2019 'Tis the dawning of a new day, a bigger battle is on the horizon. Our lads have taken the long journey, now they rest and wait to unleash their fury. They will need a heart stirring message to light their fires, so that they can take what their enemy has and break it, break their enemy in its own territory. Arise now warriors from Baltimore! Dire deeds awake! Dark is the westward journey! Let horse be bridled, horn be sounded! Forth, Eorglingas! Arise warriors of Baltimore, Arise take flight! Forward now men to glorious battle! Fell deeds awake; fire & slaughter! Spears shall be shaken, sheilds shall be splintered! A sword a day, a purple and black day! Ere the sun arises and at sun set; Ride now ride! For the glory of Baltimore! Quote
tsylvester Posted November 26, 2019 Author Posted November 26, 2019 Our warriors faught hard they stayed in the light. They used it as power, to fuel their fight. When it was over there was no doubt, they all rejoiced with a thunderous shout; "Victory is ours, we bested our foe! We want the world to know, that we have traveled so far but have just started our journey. We shall remain strong and show the world our fury!" NINE AND TWO! 9-2 no one could have though, what a great unexpected journey! Quote

NINE AND TWO! 9-2 no one could have though, what a great unexpected journey! Nobody saw this coming. No coaches, teams, fans or media "experts". Nobody could predict this. I watched national post game shows and all of the hosts were stunned. They searched for words to describe what they had just witnessed and what Lamar and this Ravens team are accomplishing this season. Many of them literally had open mouthed, stunned looks on their faces. Like Saraman beholding the March of the Ents. Quote
tsylvester Posted November 27, 2019 Author Posted November 27, 2019 Our warriors have earned them selves a wonderful feast. They have faught so hard and beat some great beasts. They should enjoy all of the spoils of their fights, but they should also keep their eyes on the grand prize. So don't fill your bellies too full at the feast, for soon you will have to battle another great beast. They come from the west with blood on their breath, so our warriors will have to give it their best. So rest up great warriors we wish you well, Happy Thanksgiving & then go give them hell. Quote
tsylvester Posted December 1, 2019 Author Posted December 1, 2019 Sauron tried every trick that he had, just to make sure he could beat our clan. He gave them a feast to fat'n them up, in hopes that when the battle grew tough, our clan would easily hang their heads & give up. But as the battle raged on in the day and even with Sauron putting foul weather in their way. Our clan pulled together and in the end, they were victorious, then looked at Sauron with a shit eat'n grin. Twelve times they faught, 10 times they won, including eight times in row they sent Sauron's army on the run. We all cheered in glee, we shouted with joy, for our clan was amazing and no longer boys. Quote
tsylvester Posted December 5, 2019 Author Posted December 5, 2019 Our clan now takes their fight to the north, where only their fire will provide their warmth. Sauron has created many distractions, to make sure our warriors can't get no satisfaction. They will have to look back and see how they've won, to make sure they keep Sauron's quarterback under thumb. They will have to make sure they fight together, no matter how strong a fight their enemy can weather. For if they stay true to whom they've become, soon they will be know as number one. Quote
