krf82 Posted March 15, 2020 Posted March 15, 2020 for the 2020 5th rd pick received for Vedvick (Minn). Ravens will attempt to sign Campbell to an extension. The Athletic: Trade grade (Ravens): B By Sheil Kapadia "This is a perfectly reasonable move for the Ravens. They have the reigning MVP in Lamar Jackson on a rookie contract and should be doing everything possible to build a Super Bowl-caliber roster around him. Pass rush was an area of weakness last season, and even if Campbell’s better days are behind him, he can be an effective starter. With trades and free agency, the risks often are character and durability. Obviously, anything can happen with injuries, but neither of those two things has been a concern with Campbell during his career. The reason I’m not bumping this to an A is Campbell will be 34 years old and the Ravens will be paying him $15 million. There’s certainly a scenario where Campbell’s age catches up to him, his play drops off and he doesn’t play up to that salary in 2020." The Ravens will sign Campbell to a contract extension through the 2022 season once the trade is official, a source told ESPN's Dan Graziano. Everyone be mindful in these difficult days. Be well and follow healthy actions advised by the CDC and others. Quote
oldno82 Posted March 15, 2020 Posted March 15, 2020 Wow! Stunned. Not sure I agree with this...33 years old and $15 million??? Don't mind losing the 5th rounder but I really really question the money at his age. Quote
papasmurfbell Posted March 15, 2020 Posted March 15, 2020 He is a 1 yr rental. I am fine with this. Quote
papasmurfbell Posted March 15, 2020 Posted March 15, 2020 yeah. He is older now. They are hoping for at least 5 sacks for their effort. Quote
tsylvester Posted March 15, 2020 Posted March 15, 2020 Are you kidding me? Has April 1st come early? They wasted a 5th on him? Yes, a rookie 5th rounder would be a better pass rusher, or use it to trade up. Is Ozzie still calling the shots? Quote
vmax Posted March 16, 2020 Posted March 16, 2020 Quote OWINGS MILLS, Md. -- This wasn’t the trade many anticipated the Baltimore Ravens and the Jacksonville Jaguars would make, but it’s one that could go down as the biggest steal in Ravens history. Baltimore acquired Jacksonville defensive end Calais Campbell on Sunday for a 2020 fifth-round pick they got from Minnesota for Kaare Vedvik, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported. Basically, the Ravens added a five-time Pro Bowl defender and one of the NFL’s most consistent pass-rushers for a draft pick they received for a backup kicker who lasted three weeks with the Vikings......https://www.espn.com/blog/baltimore-ravens/post/_/id/51813/ravens-trade-for-calais-campbell-looks-like-an-absolute-steal Great addition....all things considered. Building...one brick at a time. Quote
OneManCypher Posted March 16, 2020 Posted March 16, 2020 Well we got that fifth rounder back with the hurst trade Quote
