vmax Posted August 30, 2021 Posted August 30, 2021 We should start seeing cuts today as the final roster begins to emerge. feel free to post any questions, obervations or news as this develops. The latest that I hear is that Boyle won't be ready. Looks like PUP or IR. I think they keep Oliver and Tomlinson. Could they keep Mason who I think they cut? Here's Eisenberg's roster.... Very interesting situation going on at CB and Safety...so much talent....Baltimore Ravens, NFL, AFC, Washington Football Team, Preseason Quote Cornerback (5) – Marlon Humphrey, Marcus Peters, Jimmy Smith, Tavon Young, Anthony Averett As I see it, four defensive backs are competing for one roster spot. The four are cornerbacks Chris Westry and Nigel Warrior, safety Geno Stone and rookie Ar'Darius Washington, who played safety in college. I think Washington gets the spot for a couple of reasons (see below). That leaves out Westry, who has played well and offers an unusual look for a corner with his 6-foot-4 frame. The Ravens would love to have him on the practice squad. Safety (5) – Chuck Clark, DeShon Elliott, Brandon Stephens, Anthony Levine Sr., Ar'Darius Washington Quote
tsylvester Posted August 30, 2021 Posted August 30, 2021 Should be intesting, the wr's finally made a very good case for keeping 6. That might be unlikely if the Ravens keep 4 rbs, for me that would be Hill as the odd man out. How many offensive linemen? 6-8, split the difference? Five on the defensive line, but they may need to keep 6 for depth on this extra game schedule. 14 on the defensive line/linenackers combined, maybe 15 That would be 30 if we take the high nunbers. Add 3 qbs, one inactive game day, leaves us with 20 open. Kicker, punter, long snapper brings us down to 17, 10 in the 2ndary leaves us with 7... Oye.. Quote
vmax Posted August 31, 2021 Author Posted August 31, 2021 Roster update as far as injured Ravens getting back on the field... Quote One of the Ravens' top receivers was back on the practice field Monday. Marquise "Hollywood" Brown (hamstring) was a participant in practice for the first time since July 28, giving him two weeks to ramp up for the season opener Sept. 13 against the Las Vegas Raiders. Tight end Nick Boyle remains out of practice following season-ending knee surgery, which also required cleanup surgery this summer. Harbaugh does not expect Boyle to be ready for Week 1, although he is making progress. "Nick is getting close but he's not ready to play yet," Harbaugh said. "I don't anticipate him being ready for the first game. I do anticipate him being ready early in the season." Veteran cornerback Jimmy Smith has been out of action since injuring his ankle on Aug. 6, and he will not practice this week. Harbaugh hopes Smith may return to practice next week, but his status for Week 1 remains in doubt...Baltimore Ravens, Marquise Brown, John Harbaugh, Nick Boyle, Jimmy Smith, Trace McSorley, Tyler Huntley, Preseason Quote

Hopefully he gets on the PS. Bredison dealt to Giants for draft pick. That means the Ravens got 3 draft picks for 3 players who were not going to make the roster. Ravens gave up a 5 (2023) and a 7 for 4th in 2022. Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) The #Ravens have released veteran DT Justin “Jelly” Ellis, source said. He could return on the practice squad. vmax Posted August 31, 2021 Author Posted August 31, 2021 (edited) McCrary waived Jeff Zrebiec on Twitter “The Ravens are waiving UDFA RB Nate McCrary, who had a really nice preseason. Looks like they're going with Gus Edwards, Ty'Son Williams and Justice Hill for now. IF McCrary clears waivers, he could wind up on practice squad.” “Ravens are always doing back-end roster juggling, but at this point, CB Chris Westry and UDFA S Ar'Darius Washington are expected to be on the 53-man roster.” Moore cut.....Mason cut Edited August 31, 2021 by vmax Quote

oldno82 Posted August 31, 2021 Posted August 31, 2021 I guess they think his downfield blocking is worth keeping even if he can't get open enough. Sorry to see McSorely cut. He still deserves a chance to try out behind the '1's somewhere. Would've cut Justice Hill and kept McCrary or, even better, Mason. Quote
vmax Posted August 31, 2021 Author Posted August 31, 2021 Jeff Zrebiec (@jeffzrebiec) Any player put on I.R. after 4 p.m. tomorrow can return after three games. WRs Rashod Bateman (groin) and Miles Boykin (hamstring); TE Nick Boyle (knee) and CB Jimmy Smith (ankle) could all get I.R. consideration if team feels like they are still several weeks away from return. Jeff Zrebiec (@jeffzrebiec) So moving those guys to I.R. would open up roster spots for veterans like OLB Pernell McPhee, S Anthony Levine Sr., TE Eric Tomlinson and NT Justin Ellis to return. Not sure all 4 will be back, but a few of them figure to be. https://t.co/hHSU6qXjdZ Jeff Zrebiec (@jeffzrebiec) So moving those guys to I.R. would open up roster spots for veterans like OLB Pernell McPhee, S Anthony Levine Sr., TE Eric Tomlinson and NT Justin Ellis to return.
