vmax Posted August 16, 2011 Share Posted August 16, 2011 The Ravens definately need to get Ngata signed to a new contract but as far as the CAP situation and helping this team, I think it's too late. The good centers and RT's are gone. It will provide some depth money...some guys will get cut before the final rosters are set and the Ravens may pick up a bargan but not an impact guy. This might help get a slappy, scrap heap back up QB....but they might be worse than Taylor under pressure. That's why they arte back ups. The Ravens got damn lucky with Evans. Maybe the Ravens are holding back some because they know they've got Flacco to re-sign next year. Just a guess. You can't keep everybody with the cap in place and I am a fan of the cap. That's how I read it as well. I can't say I blame any player for trying to get as much as possible. Ngata knows he will get more than 60 mil. 60 million dollars?! One of the reasons we have a cap problem now. Apparently the economy is fine for everyone. Call washington and let them know. Apparently they don't know everything is just fine. He is one of maybe three guys that can sack the QB 10 plus times, get double blocked while doing so, also play the run with a sick vengence, and drop into coverage to cover TEs! Folks there just aren't many guys out there that can do that! Lastly....the guy never takes a play off! The only guy in the league that I can think of that matches up is Harrison. While Ngata getting a new contract will help our cap space now, what does it do the future years? We've got Flacco and Ray Rice coming due next year. How are we going to handle them? I think he is drastically overrated around this town. I am beginning to think that the public face is we want a SB but the conference room has translated into retool/rebuild mode.
