papasmurfbell Posted March 9, 2013 Posted March 9, 2013 http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2013/03/09/report-anquan-boldin-will-take-a-pay-cut-or-get-cut-before-tuesday/ Anquan Boldin has a decision to make in the next three days: Take a pay cut or get cut. That’s the word from Alex Marvez of FOXSports.com, who reports that the Ravens want Boldin to renegotiate the $6 million base salary he is set to earn in 2013, and that if he declines, he will be released before Tuesday’s start of the free-agent signing period. The Ravens freed up some cap space for 2013 when they were able to sign Joe Flacco to a long-term extension instead of putting the franchise tag on him, but the defending Super Bowl champions are still in perilous cap shape and won’t be able to keep everyone they want to keep. Now that the Flacco deal is done, linebacker Dannell Ellerbe is viewed as the next-highest priority, and Boldin may have to go if the Ravens are going to have enough cap space to re-sign Ellerbe.Boldin said on Pro Football Talk shortly after the Super Bowl that he’d retire if the Ravens cut him, but he is apparently re-thinking that. The 32-year-old Boldin led the Ravens in both catches and receiving yards, both in the regular season and the postseason. If he goes, he’d be a significant loss in Baltimore. Quote
varaven45 Posted March 9, 2013 Posted March 9, 2013 Oz and Co. need to figure it out and get er done. You can let aging vets - Ray and Reed - on D.Not so on offense; Flacco and the O must have Q. Don't fart around and negotiate a 2-3 yr deal, let him finish strong and retire a Raven. Get er done !! Quote
cravnravn Posted March 9, 2013 Posted March 9, 2013 Depends on the percent they want to scalp his salary by..Lets not forget Picksburg released Wallace, I'd hate to see #81 in Yellow & Black.. Quote
varaven45 Posted March 9, 2013 Posted March 9, 2013 Exactly . None of us here want to see our WR - Who will go to the trouble of breaking the defenders arms, if necessary, on a reception - ending up on another roster. He was arguably our MVP in the playoffs . You don't - Under any circumstances- let him go anywhere. Period. Quote
cravnravn Posted March 9, 2013 Posted March 9, 2013 Bold in rejects offer. Well that just bites donkey dicks Quote
vmax Posted March 9, 2013 Posted March 9, 2013 We're at the rumor stage...let me add to the rumors...I hear they want him to take a 50% pay cut or they have to part ways. Quote
cravnravn Posted March 9, 2013 Posted March 9, 2013 So Boldin fucked with us eh? Says he'll retire if the Ravens release him, we'll see how far that goes Quote
vmax Posted March 9, 2013 Posted March 9, 2013 He didn't fuck us. The Ravens are trying to fuck him. There's no Super Bowl in this town without him. He was awesome and clutch. The Ravens have no "go-to chain mover" and they won't find one cheaper. He brought an attitude that this offense will sorely miss.He was 2/3rds of what made Joe. Quote

They need to find a way to make it happen. If they really want him, they will. Quote
cravnravn Posted March 9, 2013 Posted March 9, 2013 So now we have a pissed off multi millionaire at qb with no go to guy Quote
vmax Posted March 9, 2013 Posted March 9, 2013 So now we have a pissed off multi millionaire at qb with no go to guy Yes.If they can't restructure Boldin then they can't find a replacement anywhere this year. There is no Mason or Boldin available on the cheap.Joe is not moving the chains unless they go to a run first offense and also use Rice as a receiver. He will be "Average Joe". Quote
vmax Posted March 9, 2013 Posted March 9, 2013 We got thje trophy. We've weathered this before. Quote
cravnravn Posted March 9, 2013 Posted March 9, 2013 Not really, we kept the team intact except at the QB position...Losing in the 2nd rd of the playoffs is not an option!!!!!!!! Quote
oldno82 Posted March 9, 2013 Posted March 9, 2013 This is pretty disgusting. Q was a BIG factor in the playoffs and he's one of those rare receivers who is open even when he's covered. They need to keep him for sure or I'll be really pissed! Quote
papasmurfbell Posted March 9, 2013 Author Posted March 9, 2013 http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2013/03/09/boldin-rejects-ravens-offer-prepares-to-go-elsewhere/ Boldin rejects Ravens offer, prepares to go elsewhereLast month, Ravens receiver Anquan Boldin told Pro Football Talk that, if he’s cut by the Ravens, he’ll retire. “Once a Raven, always a Raven,” he added. He may no longer be a Raven. According to Jarrett Bell of USA Today, Boldin has rejected the team’s proposal to reduce his $6 million base salary. The veteran is prepared to become an unrestricted free agent, if/when he is cut. In hindsight, Boldin perhaps shouldn’t have said he’ll retire if he’s cut. That comment surely emboldened the Ravens to take a run at creating some cap space by backing him into a corner. At the Scouting Combine, Ravens assistant G.M. Eric DeCosta told Pro Football Talk, “Anquan’s a Raven.” Asked whether he’ll be a Raven at a base salary of $6 million, DeCosta said, “We’ll see.” The answer is, for now, no. Once the Ravens realize that Boldin is serious about playing elsewhere, the answer could change to yes. Quote
papasmurfbell Posted March 9, 2013 Author Posted March 9, 2013 You have to look at it in the long run. In time Ellerbee is far more important. Quote
oldno82 Posted March 9, 2013 Posted March 9, 2013 The Ravens don't have a receiver waiting in the wings who's as good as Boldin. He's got 2 more good years left and he's integral to the offense. BUT, I will say they usually know what they're doing---Heap and Mason. But they could be making a real blunder with Q. Quote
OutsideRzAcE Posted March 9, 2013 Posted March 9, 2013 Boldin is saying the Ravens haven't contacted him and he plans to play 2013 under his current deal. Soo...the earlier reports were false? http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/9034272/anquan-boldin-baltimore-ravens-asked-restructure-contract Quote
vmax Posted March 9, 2013 Posted March 9, 2013 (edited) This leaky information twists and turns.... ...Boldin said on Saturday that Baltimore might have to do a restructuring of some sort, but to this point and his knowledge, the Ravens have not.As for his future, Boldin told Schefter that he would speak with his family before he makes any decisions, but as far as he is concerned and knows, he is planning to play for Baltimore next season under the terms of his current contract.http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/9034272/anquan-boldin-baltimore-ravens-asked-restructure-contract This makes it sound like the Ravens haven't said anything to him... Boldin Expects To Play 2013 In BaltimoreWide receiver Anquan Boldin was in Arizona today for the Kurt Warner Ultimate Football Experience. While there, ESPN's Adam Schefter said Boldin told him that he expects to play in Baltimore next season with his existing deal. Boldin said the Ravens have not asked him to restructure his deal, as previous reports suggest.http://www.baltimoreravens.com/news/article-1/Free-Agency-Rumor-Mill/da7e6d28-8129-4b6b-a443-b543b4d8d47b Maybe these reporters could get a job forecasting the weather. They are doing as good a job as the morons who called for 6-12 inches of snow here on Wednesday. Edited March 10, 2013 by vmax Quote
