I didn't say that he wasn't worth that kind of money. Certainly, he is. However, I meant it contextually in regard to his value on our team. Simply put, I don't think we can afford to pay him nearly that kind of money, and don't think it's worth even attempting. Sure, the depth behind him is poor, but that's what the draft, free agency, etc. is for. Besides, we had Mike Flynn as our center for years!

Though I think you're right about being wary of combine numbers, Gholston is a terrible example. The Jets made him switch positions, and then hardly gave him the playing time to learn or have any impact.

Uh, Suggs isn't going anywhere. He's already a Raven for 2009, as long as he signs his tender. I'm over Brown. He's not worth the money that he will certainly command, as far as our team and needs are concerned. I also have a feeling that the team has had it with Ray; Scott may very well be a Raven.
-
Not happening, because he's pissed that Ozzie and Co. That was stated the other day. Max: No other team can sign McAlister yet, as free agency doesn't start until the end of the week. That's all there is to it, so far.
-
Your team certainly knows that.

Oh, so you guys are finally back to agreeing with me?

That was possibly the most ridiculous post I've ever read. He was asked to try only ONE kick of 50+ yards all season long, and he missed it. During his career, he has attempted, on average, field goals of 33.4 yards. In 2008, his attempted field goals were, on average, 32.3 yards. Therefore, if anything, Harbaugh had him trying FEWER field goals out of his range than he would generally attempt. Subjectively, even his made field goals from long distance (his longest successful attempt was from 47 yards) were of the "barely there" type. The only type of person blind enough to ignore that Stover was genuinely suffering as a dependable kicker in 2008 is someone that just wishes he still had the leg strength he used to.

It would be a very sad thing to see, but it would be time if it happens.

Newsome optimistic about keeping Lewis, others
ForceEight replied to vmax's topic in Baltimore Ravens
I really don't believe a lick of it, myself. Even if he did say it, I don't believe he'd say it in seriousness. -
Much like the football team, which lost to some college in Tennessee, yet beat handfuls of ranked teams. Hey, it pays the bills.

Florio writes for PFT, so that's where that article originated from. -
I never saw 'em play, so they're OLD.

It's always his dry wit. ALWAYS. Regardless, to simplify your reasoning: high fructose corn syrup is cheaper than sugar.

Gotcha. I didn't think about going to a shop (the one down the street from me closed right after I stopped buying Pokemon cards. tsk tsk...). Good idea.

Pumps are at $1.97 nationally today, and $1.92 in Maryland. We'll see.

...I don't disagree with any of that. But to say that the barrel price has to go up for prices to increase is ignorant. First off, prices go up in late winter and early spring by default, attributable to refineries universally conducting maintenance this time of year. There's no cause-and-effect involved here; it's traditional and inevitable. Secondly, and more importantly, demand has decreased greatly because so many people are out of work, using more efficient cars, and generally holding onto their pennies. As you read above, prices are already up because demand is down and refineries have a lot of discounted oil piling up. That trend should obviously continue. You'll notice that I said $2.50-$3. Not $3. While reaching $3 isn't impossible, it is certainly on the high side. Most places that forecast prices have them at about $2.50 or so by Memorial Day.
-
According to whom? Gas is only rising, and will probably be $2.50-$3 again by spring.

A new question: I have a bunch of old (OLD) baseball cards. All in plastic. All found in the attic in my room not too long ago; I don't know where they're from, but I was told that they're mine. I have two cards with Al Bumbry's autograph, two of Tippy Martinez, two of Scott McGregor, two of Paul Blair, and one of Curt Blefary. Any idea what these cards would get, or if there's any demand for them at all? I can't get any good ideas from eBay, because of the range in price, demand, quality, etc.

Just in case you guys had any hopes, take Bryant off the free agent wide receiver list, as he was tagged by the Buccaneers.
-
I know that his skill set is entirely different, but that wasn't my point. My point was that he is an average receiver posting average statistics. He has poor straight line speed, and his physicality has shown up just once, when 10 of his 38 receptions in 2007 were for touchdowns. In five seasons, he has never broken out. I suspect he will be paid better than what his value will be to this team.
-
Reggie Williams isn't worth consideration. We need a top receiver; he'd be no better than the crew of #2 guys we have now.
-
He gonna be maaaaaaaaaad. I bet they're happy as hell with Gross resigning, though.
-
Good question. That will be an interesting decision...

I agree. Brown is a good player, and a good center, but he's not worth the money he'll want. At least, he's not worth that kind of money to this team.
-
You don't think Suggs is worth his money, yet you think Brown is?
