Ngata is not a necessity. We've got reserves ready to step in and as has been pointed out, at 31 years old that's a ridiculous number for any DT (16 mil). If they can't lower his cap value to about half that they need to make a trade to some team that's flush with cap room.

We're in agreement...they should target WR/CB/TE early depending on what happens in free agency. If we can get Haloti and Webb to accept a contract extension that lowers our cap, Oz will have some flexibility.

I think it's 50-50 we get Forsett back. But you are right. We've got to have a very good running back backing him up. It's possible that's Taliaferro but I'd feel better with rookie talent from this year's draft.

I was thinking the same thing. We could possibly grab a draft pick if we can find a team that has a low cap number and needs defensive line help.

Then let him go. From his past reluctance to extend his contract I get the feeling he isn't that loyal to us. Plus, hell, he's 31. How many good years does he have left? One? Two? None? And we have guys ready to take his position.

Real good analysis. If they can get him for $5-7 million then keep him. If he wants more cut him loose. I'll miss the great guy that he is but any more money than that is just not warranted.

Agree with all of what you said except Ngata. A $16 million cap number is just way out of whack for a DT. And he was gone for 4 games this year and the DL held up well what with the new talent.

It's going to be very difficult cap-wise to sign either Torrey or Marshall. We need cap relief from Ngata and Webby and next year from Joe. I'm hoping Oz can pull it off.
