Winning in Miami will be tough. I do expect to see better pass protection, smarter decisions by Joe, no Dickson, no drops. We have to get all 4 to win. I think a lot is riding on the coaching for this game too. Harbs, Castillo and Caldwell need to get the players emotionally involved. I think the offensive line members don't look like their hearts are in it this year.

He might need to release some if things don't get better fast. The team doesn't look hungry. Or worried.

Actually, there's a lot of blame to go around. Its not on any one player's or unit's shoulders---its a team problem. Joe had a lousy game. The offensive line looks weak. Castillo's run blocking scheme is in tatters. Dickson and Clark are not the answers at tight end. Frankly we don't have a tight end who is any good and like was mentioned above, if Furstenburg isn't as good or better than these guys why do we have him on the team at all. The secondary is still suspect but getting better. The D-line is OK and so are the LBs. The game plans on offense have been poor. The offense won't get going until the blocking improves and the run game starts moving. Joe won't succeed without play action and a running game. Joe is not Tom Brady or Peyton Manning. Never was and never will be. But he was good enough to take us through the toughest teams in the league during the playoffs last year and win the Super Bowl. The only redeeming feature at this point is that the AFC North is a mess. As big or a bigger mess than us.

I like Graham but I think Smith has more upside.

I was really glad to read this quote from Jimmy Smith on the Ravens' website: “I’m just getting comfortable in the scheme and doing what I like to do, playing physical, trying to be consistent out there,” Smith said. Smith has also shown a better awareness for the football. He is playing the ball better, and turning his head to bat down balls in coverage. “That’s just natural instincts.” Smith said. “You can be taught to do it. It’s kind of a natural instinct, when you’re in good position to turn around, find, lean and locate. Then you make a play on the ball. It’s not an easy job to do, especially when quarterbacks are really good at putting it outside. You just try to focus with your technique and stay in good position.” Sounds like he gets it.

I am astonished! I thought we had no chance against them. I was just hoping for a competive game. Awesome Defense. Great return by Doss. Good game by Joe and Torrey in the second half. And good job by Pees. Caldwell adjusted. Cam wouldn't have. Great win!

Bajema is better and blocks to boot. Cut Dickson and activate Furstenburg. How much worse could he be?

I would have agreed with this last season but he had a damn good first game before his own guy clobbered him.

The offense got better as the game went along. No complaints about the D. How many balls should have been caught but weren't in the first half? Is this the end of Ed Dickson? Why not play Bajema a little more---he's not that bad a pass catcher. Bottom Line: This team is still far from being in sync. but it still has a lot of potential---barring injuries.
