I think the best option might be to take Jacoby out of the return game and make him #2. He's got the experience and Joe's confidence. Then its up to Doss and Thompson for the number 3 spot. Where we're going to get hurt bad is if none of the trio of Dickson, Jacoby, or whoever is no good over the middle.

I'm reminded of a long ago story told by Art Donovan. When the Colts drafted Jim Parker, the future Hall of Fame offensive lineman, he came to camp as a much ballyhooed rookie. The first day of practice, Ewbank told Marchetti to teach Paker some things. During the drills Marchetti went up, over, around and through Parker leaving Parker to just get bewildered. Donovan, who was watching this show, was asked by Parker "What do I do now??". Artie replied, 'Hell, JIm, if I were you I'd applaud.' The point being is that its early in camp and Juice is a rook. He's going to need some learning time.

Yeah I'm not really looking at Juice to be a great blocker. I'm hoping he'll do the following: 1) Get open, 2) Have good hands, and 3) Bowl over some tacklers,

Absolutely agree. Let the season play out and a lot of questions will be resolved by performance.

Some bright spots: - Jacoby Jones had a few nice catches and showed off his hands on a couple of occasions. One of the catches of the afternoon came on a fade route in the corner of the end zone from Flacco. Jones beat cornerback Jimmy Smithon the play, and then kept his two feet in bounds as he hauled in the touchdown snag. - Fullback Kyle Juszczyk is coming along as a blocker. The rookie opened a big hole for running back Bernard Pierce on a counter play, and overall he seems to be making the adjustment to the full-go practices. - Visanthe Shiancoe worked with Flacco one-on-one after practice. The veteran tight end is still learning the offense and getting plugged into the system. He spent most of practice watching from the sidelines, but did have a drop when he got into seven-on-seven drills. With Shiancoe still getting adjusted, veteran Billy Bajema has been running with Ed Dickson and the first-team offense. - Dickson said that he needs to step up for the offense Sunday, and he did that with a nice leaping catch over the middle of the field. Dickson showed off his athleticism by leaping over linebacker Josh Bynes and then had great concentration to pull in the tough catch.

That is great news!

Wow! She's tougher than me.

Yeah, it wasn't like we didn't want the guy. He was just too expensive for this year. Remember how tight we were at the time. Sure. I miss him and so will the offense but you have go young sometimes.

It's time for the Ravens to bring back Vonta Leach
oldno82 replied to cravnravn's topic in Baltimore Ravens
What if it came down to Brandon Lloyd or Leach money wise? -

Won't be like 2008. Caldwell won't allow that to happen and Joe is 5 years more experienced. It hurts yes, a lot, but this is still a very good team. Should we sign Vonta and Brandon Marshall now after all this? I read in the Sun where Jusyckshdyk got pushed all over the field at practice yesterday, even by guys he outweighed by 35 pounds!
-
Some sign of hope: the doc's fixed his hip non-invasively. He still needs to be checked for ligament damage.
-
I think its a good move to add the experience. I think he'll be better than Bajema. I also have hopes for Furstenburg.
-
Don't know if this is accurate but WBAL reported he also fractured it. Shows the risk Joe took when he played out his contract. Feel very, very bad for Pitta. I have some hope for this kid Furstenburg. Also, time for Dickson to show if he's got it or not.
-
Well that's a kick in the gut.
-
Wish we still had him now that we finally have a QB.

You beat me to it, Papa. Good news. Hoping this 'tweak' with Osemele is only that.

I now feel illuminated.

Well, Birk was a success. Maybe lightning will strike twice. -
Sorry, Crav, I just don't know what that means...illuminate me.

And I thought this was all behind him: http://www.baltimoresun.com/sports/ravens/ravens-insider/bal-bryant-mckinnie-not-on-field-for-start-of-training-camp-unclear-why-20130725,0,3102358.story

So that was a tempest in a teapot.
