Funny...Flacco used to check down too often now Lamar won't check down at all. I really don't know what is going wrong here. The first drive was a thing of beauty. The second that ended with the Drake fumble was similarly executed---just very unfortunate Drake coughed it up. After that, the offense looked out of sync for the rest of the game. What happened to screens when the pressure got intense play after play? I think this was indeed the trap game I was worried about. And now Gus is hurt. There's no one left to run the ball except Lamar. This team is capable of turning this back around against Cleveland but only if they're ready to handle Myles Garret and the rest of the Brown's pass rush. Having Gus back would really help but I doubt he'll be back if he's still in concussion protocol late this week. No doubt, though...we need to start getting bodies back as I think we're up to 9 injured players now.

I'm just spent. What looked so good on the first drive for a TD never played out that way again. Disgusting to not score in OT after the D held them.
-
The rain, 7 starters out, and a letdown after last week's superb showing are all giving me plenty of room to worry about this game.
-
Can't say I'm glad he has a concussion but I think we'd rather face Minshew (who still ain't that bad).
-
Well, heck! He's one of the most important reasons watching the Ravens is so much fun!
-
Hmmm...Justice Hill has turf toe and is day-to-day.
-
Ah, I see.
-
Tsyl you read my mind.

Do we know what Richardson's projected health is...I mean is he 'questionable or doubtful' or whatever?
-
I'm a little surprised they added another back. Hopefully, Gus isn't experiencing any lingering effects from his injury of last year. He sure looked good Sunday.
-
There is some cleanup to be done but if they can maintain that efficiency they showed in the last game I see a really rewarding season coming up. Special teams do need attention and there needs to be continued emphasis on the secondary but I am feeling good right now about our prospects against the Colts.
-
Here's hoping we don't have a letdown after the efficient big win over Cincinnati. I don't think it will happen but it could be an early trap game.
-
Well it doesn't sound so bad then but I hope Humphrey comes back before the Browns game. I don't know what to expect from the Colts. Minshew had a good outing after Richardson went down. If we can carry over our attitude and new found offense into the game we should be alright. I do have faith in Monken.

Just saw where they put CB Ar'Darius Washington on IR. Mustipher put on 53. Maulett will replace Washington. I don't know either CB well.

I guess he needed the money now .

I agree and I don't want to beat the guy up but I wonder is Stanley's health back to what it was before his big injury? A couple of years ago he was lights out. Now I think he has some problems with speed rushers. Maybe I'm just over analyzing.
-
I have wondered that too. And, is Mekarri better than Stanley? They played a tougher defense today and the offensive line play was really clicking.
-
I watched the game on DVR so I could speed through commercials. GREAT effort by the O-line, Edwards, Hill, all the receivers (watching that 52 yard bomb to Flowers over and over), Jackson and the whole D. Truly a team win. It was so good to see actual holes for our running backs to go through and the pass protection was really good against a good defense. I can't find any fault with the game plan and it was executed superbly. The only downer was OBJ injured his ankle. But, man, suddenly we are loaded with talented receivers. My hat's off to Todd Monken! The Ravens were primed and ready for this game!!!

I don't know what to expect either. The line play was better in the second half last week after Stanley and Linderbaum were out. Interesting. The whole team needs time to gel especially with a new offense and with the banged up secondary. If they can keep the Bengals' receivers (a big if) in check, I see a close game.
-
One team was an ugly winner and has major injury concerns. The other was an ugly loser and has minor injury concerns. What is your foreshadowing analysis of Game 2? What kind of game will it be?
-
Hope so, we need all the secondary help we can get.
-
Whenever I think of the Bengals receivers now (with Williams and Humphrey out) I shudder. They called up Worley to the 53.
-
Against the Browns he did poorly. The story I read indicated he was swarmed over by the Browns' defense giving up sacks and allowing pressure. I think he was matched up against Garret. I also understand Chiefs' fans were chiding Bengals fans for him leaving KC and then having a tumultuous start in his first game for them. So he should be plenty motivated to play well against us.
-
I think I read that if Williams opts for surgery he'll be out all year but also that his injury isn't affecting him with range of motion too much, so, if he can, he might be back in 4-6 weeks. Interesting that we both observed improved offensive line play after Linderbaum and Stanley went out. Your reasoning sounds, well, reasonable.
-
I was bothered by the Offensive line play. Lamar was under duress for most of the first half when all the regulars were still in the game. The line actually did a bit better with the backups for Stanley and Linderbaum. Don't understand why that should be. Yes the receivers are now top notch and will be even better when Andrews gets in there. But Cincy is going to be both pissed from losing and sky-high for their home opener. I don't expect us to win, just to see some progress on correcting the first game deficiencies would be welcome. It's going to be a tough year and a dog-fight in the AFC North all season!
