  1. Well...it might be too much money and too much time (I hope he can hold up OK) but at least it's a done deal. Though I wonder what is going to be left to feed the rest of the team if Lamar can't carry them?
  2. Yes, but is he going to be of value to us or is he just another aging veteran like Watkins, et.al.? If they do pick him up I also think Lamar will sign. Probably a 3 year deal or 5 year with voidable years and while not 'fully' guaranteed it will be heavily into that stratosphere. Now if DHop isn't traded for and Lamar is still unsigned this time next week, we're still in limbo. I hope they draft a quarterback late so they have somebody in addition to Tyler for competition in camp.
  3. Oh, and the latest rumor: will they sign Hopkins and should they?
  4. Might have made more sense for the Jets to sign Lamar if they could get his demand for 'fully guaranteed' dropped. After all, how many seasons does Rodgers realistically have left? After 2 years, the Jets may be left with no Rodgers and a long, long rebuild to be done from scratch.
  5. I think Lamar caves after the draft when no one trades for him. He'll settle for some type of contract with the Ravens that isn't fully guaranteed.
  6. Here's a website of interest: https://www.baltimoreravens.com/news/ravens-fish-deeper-pool-quarterback-draft-2023. And another from Zrebiec: Zrebiec: I could easily throw out one of those cornerbacks or wide receivers who figure to come off the board in the low 20s and I’d feel pretty good about the prediction. But what fun would that be? With their fifth-round pick, the Ravens select … Georgia quarterback Stetson Bennett. The Ravens currently have just one quarterback, 2022 undrafted free agent Anthony Brown, on their roster, although Tyler Huntley could sign his restricted free agent tender any day now. Still, the Ravens will need more than just Huntley and Brown, especially if Jackson is traded or plans an extended holdout. They hoped to land a veteran stand-in like Jacoby Brissett or Baker Mayfield, but came up empty. There’s not much left on the veteran backup quarterback carousel, unless you want in on the Carson Wentz experience. So coming out of the draft with a quarterback makes plenty of sense and what better choice than Bennett, who won two national championships with Monken as his play-caller?
  7. You have a point there. I don't think we've ever developed a WR after the 2nd round in the 27 year of history of the franchise.
  8. I dunno, Tsyl...I look at Purdy and Brady and they were both almost not drafted either. Bennet led them to a national championship. But I don't follow college ball as much as you do so I will defer to your greater experience.
  9. Is this guy worth taking a 6th round pick on? I know, no NFL arm and he's not a big guy but he knows Monken's offense and thrived under him. Also, smart guy. What do we have to lose by taking a 6th round pick on him?
  10. Lamar is a mess. He needs an agent badly. Whatever he's doing right now is so not working that he should try doing the opposite.
  11. So as much as it hurts to say this, sounds like eventually Lamar plays under the tag for one more year here before the whole mess happens again next year. Groundhog Day, the movie.
  12. OK...I agree with that, but shouldn't we be grooming somebody to avoid the mess we're in now from happening again next year? Huntley isn't the answer. And, if we're not going to groom a draftee, shouldn't we be signing a better backup quarterback? I don't want to be so damned dependent on LJ next year.
  13. We're drafting at #22. Should would stay there or draft down some spaces to get another 3rd round pick? Also, if he is there, should we take Herndon Hooker from the Vols? I'd be tempted to take Hooker even if Lamar agrees to playing on the tag but you guys follow college football more closely than I do so what's your guess?
  14. Well, I feel a little better after what Todd Monken had to say but I'm still wary: https://www.baltimoreravens.com/news/odell-beckham-todd-monken-tremendous On the other hand...I think Preston's take is much more up-to-date: https://www.baltimoresun.com/sports/analysis/preston/bs-sp-ravens-odell-beckham-gamble-preston-20230410-w7jq2yuw7begldl3yulcr4xjbe-story.html
  15. Just a dumb move by a franchise that used to be so sure footed. Agree it was at least partly done to placate Lamar.
  16. WTF??!! This is a brainless move. $13 guaranteed! The only guarantee we have is more distractions for the franchise.
  17. I know how you feel but then we're on the hook for $32 million in cap space until all the holdouts end.
  18. Just keep Carly Simon in mind ("Anticipay-yay-shun"). All the unknowns will be at least partially known after the draft but we may have to wait longer, much longer on the resolution of the Lamar issue. I will say this: if he holds out I'd trade his ass to the highest bidder for picks in 2024. I wouldn't wait until training camp in July. The drop dead date should be the OTA's. If no one wants him, let him rot somewhere while we obtain a free agent, any free agent quarterback who wants to come here.
  19. OK...sounds like a possibility though one writeup I just read after reading your post said arm strength is an issue with him...how about Monken's QB at Georgia? I know you follow the Bulldogs. I also know I can't expect a mid-late round QB to not being a project to varying degrees.
  20. Thanks for the info guys. From what you've said and from what I've read, I agree he's a day two pick option depending on what else is available. All I know is that I don't feel comfortable with Huntley as our #1 quarterback. Any other lesser known college qb's who might slip to day 2 or 3 and be worth taking a shot at?
  21. Choices are limited. Bridgewater would be better than Huntley but injury history is indeed the question. Wentz a better option? What do you guys know about Tennessee Vols quarterback Hooker? He might be on our draft radar but I have never seen him play. Could be available day 2.
  22. Who do we have to throw to him? I find it hard to fathom him coming here.
  23. Wouldn't they have to allocate $42 million in cap money if we do this again next year? Definitely agree we need a better qb than Huntley...trouble is the best of the available ones have already been scooped up.
  24. When my wife (mis)read what she saw on the 'net today, she called out to me "Did we trade Lamar to the Colts?", I jumped out of my chair only to find she was looking at a mock draft and didn't know it was a mock. I was all excited for a brief few seconds only to have my hopes dashed. Close but no cigar!
