Max you make a good point but methinks this is more about Lamar than his doing something for the good of the NFLPA. I have to agree with Tsyl on this. Time to re-do our quarterback position. Otherwise, Lamar will just not practice until the season starts when he would begin to lose paychecks and our new offensive coordinator would start off his job with major heartburn. There's some decent 'bridge' quarterbacks out there that could tide us over until our new franchise quarterback matures. It seems every year there are more college quarterbacks making a good transition to the pros. I hate that it has come down to this but you can blame the Brownies and the Watson deal for this. -
Rex was too brash in the past to be a head coach. It does require some careful wording when you talk publicly. Maybe he's changed a bit now though in that regard. He might land a HC job in the near future.

I agree. I was surprised Biennemy took the OC job with Washington. Why leave KC for a lateral move to such a dysfunctional organization?
-
Urban is especially needed in the rotation what with Calais getting older. Speaking of which, I hope they can bring Calais back at the 'right price'.

Here's a really good article on Monken and how he has run offenses and the results during the course of his career: https://www.baltimoresun.com/sports/ravens/bs-sp-ravens-offensive-coordinator-todd-monken-stats-20230216-2emf2w4l75asjecwulaoekkto4-story.html

Yeah, it's a mess for sure. I still think the best course is to trade Lamar for picks and sign one of the bridge quarterbacks you mentioned above. It's the only way I know to keep enough talent to keep the team in a SB window for several years. Look, I love what Lamar did for us a couple of years ago and before. He was a scintillating player who excited the whole town. But $200 million+ guaranteed is way too much for any player. Cleveland ruined the pay scale for quarterbacks with what they gave Watson. All that being said, IF Lamar could be convinced to tone down his asking price and structure his contract for the cap, I'd love to have him back. But, otherwise, let him walk for picks! -
Ah, I didn't realize that was his rookie year. That really says it all so far as Baker is concerned. Yes, Todd does know how to scheme his receivers to get open. Hopefully, Lamar, if it is Lamar, sees them and can get the ball to them.

It sounds like his '12' offense is made for this team.

Preston's take: https://www.baltimoresun.com/sports/analysis/preston/bs-sp-ravens-todd-monken-pedigree-preston-20230214-mmi4vaiowbfybbclnhujkofsem-story.html?utm_source=onesignal&utm_medium=notification&utm_campaign=2023-02-14-Preston-on-Rave

Did come across this factoid: "Monken did not have raving success in his previous stints as an NFL offensive coordinator, and Baker Mayfield seemed to be better without him as he threw 21 interceptions in 2019 under Monken’s offense and then just nine in his breakout 2020 campaign." Course that could have just been growing pains for Baker at that time.

I'm gonna have to look for some more Bulldog& NFL videos.

Good move! Can’t wait until he fires up the Ravens offense. Should make watching our games fun again.
-
Could be they're waiting to interview somebody from Philly too.
-
Wow...that's quite astonishing! I think we're a little spoiled? Surprised New England wasn't up there.
-
Well, maybe they might make him an offer he can't refuse.
-
Yeah I agree. How can you not like the Georgia offense. I'd be happy with Eric but we'd probably have to cut a deal that he would be our next HC after the coming season if his offense is productive. Overall, Monken is probably the best fit.
-
Who would you rather have, Bieniemy, Monken, or an Eagles guy?
-
I had also been a Bienemy fan but then I found out it's really Andy Reid that calls the plays, so now I don't know how I feel about that one. I would list my preferences as: Monken, Angelichio, then Canales.
-
Hey thanks, Tsyl There's some successful guys on 'the list' and at least one head scratcher in the Denver case. I just really hope they're waiting on the freedom of the offensive guys in KC and Philly and that they're not just stalling before naming somebody from within. And like you, I'm a Monken fan.

Unfortunately you have to be a subscriber to read Zrebic on The Athletic

Glad you're back Max! Lots of potential stories in the air about OC and Lamar for sure, but nothing yet that we can hang our hat on. As for Roman, I don't think any pro team has interviewed him at this point. But I don't know for sure.
-
Max, hope you're OK...haven't heard from you for a while.
-
Agree on Outten---can't comprehend the attraction there. He's practically a Roman clone. I'd be really pumped if they got Monkton too.
-
Today there's news we're interviewing or will interview Monken, Canales and Outten a 2nd time.
