  1. I find myself agreeing with all of you guys. Lamar has to learn how to pass and read defenses. My worry is that the first can't be taught any better and the second is impossible to execute if you can't learn to pass. I worry that Lamar had to learn how to pass in college and didn't so maybe he can't be taught. And football is a great game of adaptation. A good defense will adjust to kill you if you are one dimensional. The playerS and coaches have to make the appropriate adjustments on offense. This is a never ending cycle---unless you're unsuccessful. We could definitely use another young quarterback with good potential. No doubt about it. Unfortunately we're in no position to get one. RGIII is the best backup option but he ain't going to be the quarterback of the future if Lamar winds up with an abruptly shortened career. This almost like a game of craps only you have to get a 7 on the first throw.
  2. Well remember that Foles was going to be available too so maybe Eric felt he had to strike when the iron was hot.
  3. Here's what Ian Rappaport had to say: https://www.baltimoreravens.com/video/ian-rapoport-reveals-what-ravens-are-getting-in-exchange-for-joe-flacco-old
  4. I read this with great satisfaction. F**k LeVeon Bell! https://www.baltimoreravens.com/news/eisenberg-why-i-m-rooting-for-a-boring-offseason
  5. I like what read about him too. His 'cons' seem to me to be fairly easy to correct. I'll keep my eyes on this guy. Good find, Papa.
  6. Yep, WR is the flavor of the week. Seems like we'd have a choice between many A-list ones. The OT/OG pick is interesting too. Would be great to come up with a starter ready guard. RB at number 1 is too soon if needed at all.
  7. Here's some more music: https://www.baltimoreravens.com/video/new-coach-david-culley-shares-vision-for-ravens-passing-game-old I like when he emphasizes that first and foremost as a receiver 'you have got to catch the ball'. In fact, I liked everything Culley had to say.
  8. Improving the O-line like DeCosta says, should be the number one priority this off-season through the draft and free agency. It does appear that a very highly rated WR may drop to pick 22 in the draft. If that happens and the guy has no red flags it will be difficult not to take him. I'm not sure what they should do if that happens. We don't have a second round pick so first round is even more valuable to us than usual. But it would seem to me that we ought to be able to go after Paradis in free agency for Center. We need at least one guard, possibly two. Through some magical combination DeCosta has to fill C, OG, and WR this year. We have the cap room to do it, I think. Any chance we pick up a compensatory 3rd round pick this year? Ryan Jensen signed a fat contract so maybe we get one there?
  9. Yeah, I wonder too. It sure as hell can't hurt.
  10. Oh please, no more receivers with drop problems!
  11. Barnwell is full of it. The defenses aren't even comparable. Did he even see the Ravens Superbowl win I wonder??
  12. Based only on what he's done so far he'd be a lock but his career is still young and he'll have to maintain almost as good a record until he retires.
  13. Lamar has a pleasing and unusual mix of humility and confidence. I really hope he succeeds.
  14. WR: Keelan Doss was impressive at the Senior Bowl should be available at #22. But I still favor an Oline pick. De Costa said this about the O-line: "“We also want big, physical, tough, aggressive, nasty, mean offensive linemen who can protect Lamar and help open up some running holes,” DeCosta said. Music to my ears!
  15. Hmmm...didn't see a Guard or Center being taken anywhere in the first round.
  16. He's not bad but they need better blocking up the middle. There's not enough 'push'. He might make a good backup swing man for G and C. I want to see a dominant offensive line. Even more than another WR. In fact, they might want to hold onto Crabtree, Smoke, and Snead. These guys aren't incompetent and if Lamar threw a bit more and had more time to read his progressions their effectiveness should go up as well.
  17. The more I think about it, the more I think their number one priority in the draft/free agency should be the offensive line. First off they need to getter in pass protection and opening holes. Yanda is 34 and might even retire plus he's not getting any younger. They need a bigger, stronger center and a LG too. They're set at tackles. So, somehow they need to pick up two OG's (one ready to start) and a Center who is ready to start. If Lamar gets better pass protection he'll be more comfortable in the pocket. Bigger and faster also should lead to more holes to run through and better success on the perimeters. The WR position is the glamour pick but the offensive line should have priority.
  18. Yeah, i think you're probably right. Hopefully rounds 3 and 4 will be as productive as they were last year.
  19. We need a second round draft pick badly. Any ideas as to how we might go about getting one?
  20. Ravens' website reports annual meeting of Bisciotti, Harbaugh, DaCosta, and others took place at Steve's home in Florida last week.
  21. Then I guess that's not the reason they haven't the end of season presser with Harbs and the conference they have held with Bisicott and and the GM they've had every year. But it still sounds unusual.
  22. V-e-r-y interesting. I wonder what this means???
