vmax Posted July 20, 2013 Posted July 20, 2013 Nice game and win last night. Markakis is so solid and important to this team.Chen is back and he's a major piece of the puzzle for thjis run to make the playoffs.Buck's a humble guy too... ....It was Showalter's 250th victory with the Orioles, making him the fourth manager to win at least 250 with four different teams (Joe Torre, Gene Mauch and Dick Williams were the others).“Well, you had to mention four different teams,” Showalter deadpanned. “Do you count the losses? I’ve got probably just as many of them. I’ve been fortunate to have good players and tonight was a good example of that.”Read more: http://www.baltimoresun.com/sports/orioles/bal-orioles-rangers-20130719,0,6750310.story#ixzz2Zb2TKI2x Quote
thundercleetz Posted July 20, 2013 Posted July 20, 2013 Really excited to hear Henry Urrutia is being called up. He was destroying AA and AAA - as he should have, coming as a 26 year old vet from Cuba - but I think he can continue it in the majors. I am hoping he can be a spark in that DH spot against righties. And while his defense isn't great, he can spell McLouth or Markakis as necessary.I'm really excited to see Urrutia play too. Our DH against RHP has been pathetic. Hopefully Henry can solidify the role. The guy seems like a gamer. Quote
vmax Posted July 21, 2013 Posted July 21, 2013 Yea... let's get the sweep.Last night was fun to watch. I was worried about Davis being hurt for awhile and then watching him tryin g to tell Buck and the trainer that he was ok to play was funny...they did not trust him.Urrutia had some good at bats....he may be the answer....can't wait to watch him today. Just watching McLouth had me thinking that was another good signing this year.Go Tillman. Quote
thundercleetz Posted July 22, 2013 Posted July 22, 2013 Great sweep. We got three great starts in a row and played awesome defense. This means a lot more to our team than three wins in a row. Texas has been a thorn in our side for years. Their run differential against us last year was estonishing. Sweeping them on the road makes the series win that much more impressive. Tampa and Boston keep winining. Tampa's pitching is incredible. I want to think their bats will come back down to earth eventually, but with their staff they are here to stay. Boston's lineup has been incredibly balanced and productive. I also want to believe they are playing over their heads but they keep coming up in the clutch. This division will come down to the wire. IMO it will come down to us and Tampa as Boston will fall off a little bit, but who really knows. The only thing for certain is WE NEED to come up big in our head-to-head matchups against Tampa and Boston if we want to win this thing. Quote
varaven45 Posted July 22, 2013 Posted July 22, 2013 Helluva job by the starting rotation and sparkling defense too ! On to KC . Go Os ! Quote
cravnravn Posted July 23, 2013 Posted July 23, 2013 We have us a horse race.. Boston 60 41 .594 - Tampa Bay 59 41 .590 .5 Baltimore 57 43 .570 2.5 Quote
varaven45 Posted July 26, 2013 Posted July 26, 2013 Crav, Os taking a little R and R from horse race. Going through the motions tonight against former O Guthrie. Damn ugly series against KC after laying the wood on Rangers. Red Sox series can't get here soon enough ! Quote
cravnravn Posted July 26, 2013 Posted July 26, 2013 Getting hammered by an under 500 ball club is unacceptable. Quote
varaven45 Posted July 26, 2013 Posted July 26, 2013 Yep. After the Texas series, the Os pulled what golfers call a post birdie screwup on the next hole. The Os looked likeness last night, after blowing Wednesday night s game. KC is a formidable team but the team looked like it was in a fog. They need to get their crap together this weekend against Bosox. Quote
Spen Posted July 27, 2013 Author Posted July 27, 2013 That shift is really odd. Funny seeing Manny through someone out from right field. 1 Quote
vmax Posted July 27, 2013 Posted July 27, 2013 5-0 O's!Jones and Manny show...Oh Tillman pitching a shut out into the 8th. Quote
vmax Posted July 27, 2013 Posted July 27, 2013 Love those black shirts. Hardy...yard...6-0. 4 hr's tonight. Johnson coming out to close. Quote
varaven45 Posted July 27, 2013 Posted July 27, 2013 Big win tonight. Funny how Os played flat against KC last night; looked recharged against Bosox tonight. Need a strong outing from Feldman tomorrow night. Go Os Quote
dc. Posted July 27, 2013 Posted July 27, 2013 I hate the black Unis. Orange unis are fantastic though. Quote
cravnravn Posted July 27, 2013 Posted July 27, 2013 Chris Davis in a funk, I said nothing good comes from that HR hitting contest Quote
dc. Posted July 27, 2013 Posted July 27, 2013 He was in a mild funk for the three weeks before the HR derby too, Crav. Broke out for the last 4-5 games before the break and then back in it. Meanwhile, he's not in an awful spot. HR drought and avg down a bit, but it's not like he's 0-20. Quote
cravnravn Posted July 31, 2013 Posted July 31, 2013 So glad to see Davis smack one out, let him get on the HR streak again, Tampa will be in trouble Quote
varaven45 Posted August 1, 2013 Posted August 1, 2013 11-0 rout at the hands of the Astros ? 'Bout the worse I've seen the Os in a few years. Good thing it only counts as 1 in the loss column but how damn embarrassing against arguably the worst team in baseball. Quote
vmax Posted August 1, 2013 Posted August 1, 2013 Our O's are not doing too well....feeling down right now on this. Quote
cravnravn Posted August 2, 2013 Posted August 2, 2013 Chris Davis again, now if we could get Weitz to start making contact.. Wish there was a way to post up a playoff tracker, we are currently 1/2 game out of the wildcard, chasing Leaveland. Quote
vmax Posted August 2, 2013 Posted August 2, 2013 4-0 O's 1st inning.....O's hauranging Haurang. Jones 3 run double....Tillman off to a good start. Quote
varaven45 Posted August 5, 2013 Posted August 5, 2013 The team is starting to fade. We are losing the 1 run games we were winning last year. I think the law of averages is catching up with us this year. Quote
