The NFL released its regular-season schedule Thursday and it’s highlighted by the Ravens’ Sept. 5 matchup against the Broncos, a pairing that produced one of the league’s most memorable games from the 2012-13 campaign. The league’s annual kickoff game will begin at 8:30 p.m. and be televised by NBC.

They will get a chance to unveil their championship banner 10 days later when they face the Cleveland Browns on Sunday, Sept. 15.

That’s part of a home schedule that includes the Thanksgiving clash with the Steelers (Nov.28), a Sunday night game against the New England Patriots (Dec.22) and matchups with Ed Reed’s Houston Texans (Sept. 22) and Aaron Rodgers’ Green Bay Packers (Oct. 13).

The Ravens’ two prime-time road games will be an opener in Denver and a matchup with the Detroit Lions before a Monday Night Football audience on Dec. 16 at Ford Field.

The Ravens’ bye comes in Week 8, following games against the Packers and the Steelers (Oct. 20) at Heinz Field. They play four of five games on the road from Week 4to Week 9 and then four of five games at home from Week 12 to Week 16 before traveling to Cincinnati for the regular-season finale for a third straight year.

Overall, the Ravens play seven of their 16 games against playoff teams from last season though five of those games will be at home, where the Ravens are 33-7 under head coach John Harbaugh. Based on 2012 records (137-119), the Ravens have the NFL’s fifth-toughest schedule in 2013.

  • Love the thursday nighter with Pittsburgh coming here. Visiting teams struggle on Thursday night.

  • 1st home again against Cleveland to raise the banner....they could've done better than that.

I don't see any particularly tough stretches. It looks like the potentially tough games are spread out pretty well.

Sept. 5 at Denver Broncos, 8:30 p.m. - I think they would have been better off getting Pitt this game. The D will need a few weeks to get into gear.

Sept. 15 CLEVELAND BROWNS, 1 p.m. - When ever it doesnt matter.

Sept. 22 HOUSTON TEXANS, 1 p.m. - Coming off the sorta bye from week 2 this is a great time.

Sept. 29 at Buffalo Bills, 1 p.m. - Good to hit this before it gets to cold.

Oct. 6 at Miami Dolphins, 1 p.m. - This sort of blows. I would want it in Nov or Dec for the warm weather trip.

Oct. 13 GREEN BAY PACKERS, 1 p.m. - gotta play them some time.

Oct. 20 at Pittsburgh Steelers, 4:25 p.m. - Great having this game going into the bye.

Oct. 27 BYE

Nov. 3 at Cleveland Browns, 4:25 p.m. - Should have been a harder game coming off teh bye.

Nov. 10 CINCINNATI BENGALS, 1 p.m. - gotta play them some time.

Nov. 17 at Chicago Bears, 1 p.m. - To bad the game with Mia wasn't traded.

Nov. 24 NEW YORK JETS, 1 p.m. - When ever.

Nov. 28 PITTSBURGH STEELERS, 8:30 p.m. - This makes the game easier. Hard to be on the rode on Thur.

Dec. 8 MINNESOTA VIKINGS, 1 p.m. - Gotta play them sometime

DEC. 16 at Detroit Lions, 8:40 p.m. - Gotta play them sometime.

Dec. 22 NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS, 8:30 p.m. - Both teams should be in gear running to the PO's. Should be a hell of a game.

Dec. 29 at Cincinnati Bengals, 1 p.m - Should be a good game.

The scheduling changes every year, but the goals remain the same regarding how to conquer it.

One game at a time.

Win at home, split on the road.

Win in the division.

Defeat teams with winning records.

Defeat playoff caliber teams.

Then they will be playoff ready.

- This year, the Ravens will take on the only two NFL teams that finished in the top 10 in both total offense and defense in 2012. Denver was fourth in offense and second on defense, while the Houston Texans were the seventh-ranked team in both categories. Baltimore will also play both the top-ranked offense from last year (New England), as well as the No. 1 defense (Pittsburgh).

- As far as scoring offenses are concerned, Baltimore will play four of last year's top 10 (New England, first; Denver, second; Green Bay, fifth; Houston, eighth). The Ravens offense will play nine games against several of last year's best scoring defenses as well (Chicago, third; Denver, fourth; Pittsburgh, sixth; Miami, seventh; Cincinnati, eighth; New England and Houston, tied for ninth).

-Three of the Ravens' road games this year will take place in cities in which they have never won: Buffalo (0-1), Chicago (0-2) and Detroit (0-1). In fact the Ravens have never won a road game against any NFC North Division team. Baltimore has never won a regular-season home game against Carolina, and the Panthers will visit during the third preseason week.
