oldno82 Posted April 30, 2013 Posted April 30, 2013 I'm beginning to think the Ravens don't want him under any circumstances. I think (my opinion only) they don't like his weight problems and motivation, especially after he's got a ring now. He's probably just looking for a big bonus so he can 'retire on the job'. Still, its incredible that we don't have a LT on the roster and there's none but him left in FA. Oz ought to pull a trade even if means giving up a second or third round draft pick because this position is so important and you don't find good LTs in the lower rounds. Quote
papasmurfbell Posted April 30, 2013 Author Posted April 30, 2013 He is delusional if he thinks he is getting a big contract. His contract would be incentives heavy on weight and playing ability. 1 Quote
cravnravn Posted May 1, 2013 Posted May 1, 2013 Has anybody seen this cat since Feb 5th? has he put on weight? Quote
cravnravn Posted May 1, 2013 Posted May 1, 2013 SHIT!!!! McKinnie taking physical in San Diego now Quote
papasmurfbell Posted May 1, 2013 Author Posted May 1, 2013 http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2013/05/01/chargers-make-mckinnie-an-offer-negotiations-ongoing/ Chargers make McKinnie an offer, negotiations “ongoing” Quote
cravnravn Posted May 2, 2013 Posted May 2, 2013 He must be in some kind of decent shape if the Chargers have an offer to him. The Bolts are in just a bad cap shape as we are, lets hope Oz matches the offer. Quote
colincac Posted May 2, 2013 Posted May 2, 2013 Good news is that he didn't come out and accept it right away, they only have $5 Million in space as well and are probably low-balling. Hopefully we can match the offer. Quote
vmax Posted May 2, 2013 Posted May 2, 2013 Once the market started to heat up, the Ravens pounced on their left tackle. The Ravens reached a two-year agreement in principle with Bryant McKinnie Thursday afternoon, securing the left tackle that helped them pull off their Super Bowl run last season.McKinnie just finished visits with the Miami Dolphins and San Diego Chargers, who reportedly made him an offer. But he and the Ravens kept in contact throughout that time.McKinnie, 33, did not start any games during the regular season last year. After getting into better shape, he was inserted into the starting lineup for the playoffs and neutralized talented pass rushers Dwight Freeney (Colts), Von Miller (Broncos) and Aldon Smith (49ers). McKinnie expressed over the offseason that he wanted to ensure that he would be a starter wherever he signed. With McKinnie at left tackle, Michael Oher would move to right tackle and second-year player Kelechi Osemele would be in line to start at left guard. http://www.baltimoreravens.com/news/article-1/Ravens-Reach-Two-Year-Agreement-With-Bryant-McKinnie/d2b725b8-913c-4ad3-ae55-eb29eb711905 Quote
oldno82 Posted May 2, 2013 Posted May 2, 2013 This is great news though I hope they got him cheap. Nonetheless, if he stays fit, he should do the job of protecting Joe until we can get a young stud to take his place. This year's Ravens is shaping up to be one helluva of an interesting team!!! (Kudos to Oz, the coaches, and the rest of the FO for making all this happen). Really looking forward to this year now. Quote
cravnravn Posted May 2, 2013 Posted May 2, 2013 Iz Oz good or what, w\hen I read the Bolts offered a deal, I was Danny Downer, then I got that magical text stating that he signed with us, it was like WOW!!!!!! My apologies to the folks at Wally World Quote
faaaaaaq Posted May 3, 2013 Posted May 3, 2013 Whats the value of the deal? Two years with a maximum value of seven million. I have to believe it's encentive laden. We're not going to get caught with our pants down again by this guy. Sounds like a good deal for everybody concerned. 3.5 mil for a good LT is not bad. There is a signing bonus involved as well. Still sounds like a good deal. Quote
papasmurfbell Posted May 3, 2013 Author Posted May 3, 2013 Sounds solid. Next yr they have to find their LT of the future. Quote
colincac Posted May 3, 2013 Posted May 3, 2013 Meh that's more than I was hoping the deal would be for. But we'll take it. Was hoping we'd have a few mil for a run at Woodson or Urlacher for some veteran depth. Quote
papasmurfbell Posted May 3, 2013 Author Posted May 3, 2013 He used Mia and SD as good leverage. It could be pretty incentive laden. I would love to see the details. Quote
oldno82 Posted May 3, 2013 Posted May 3, 2013 (edited) I don't have any details other than its reported to have incentives and workout bonuses that push it up to the 7 million number, so it sounds like the Ravens protected themselves and got a good LT for a year or two. I agree that we need to get an LT for the future next year, Papa. The Sun says there are weight clauses as well. Edited May 3, 2013 by oldno82 Quote
papasmurfbell Posted May 3, 2013 Author Posted May 3, 2013 I would put weight in that contract. He has proven it is needed. Quote
vmax Posted May 5, 2013 Posted May 5, 2013 What do you think?... ...the re-signing of offensive tackle Bryant McKinnie is different. It's not a transaction with a long-range component. The Ravens are bringing back McKinnie in an effort to win now, immediately, in 2013.It's the closest we'll get to an admission that they think they can repeat and certainly are going to try.http://www.baltimoreravens.com/news/article-1/Eisenberg-Ravens-Make-Admission-With-McKinnie-Signing/8e006ea7-2121-4f57-9c65-6fdf6047098d Maybe.... Quote
oldno82 Posted May 5, 2013 Posted May 5, 2013 I don't think its to win the SB now as much as it is to protect the investment in Joe. With a lack of blindside protection, its just a matter of time before he gets knocked out. In that same vein, I'd like to see us replace Taylor with a more veteran, or more able, backup. I don't dislike Tyrod, I just don't think he could lead us to some victories if needed. I do think the Ravens FO goal is to reach the playoffs every year. Quote
