vmax Posted June 10, 2013 Posted June 10, 2013 Renaldo McClain was the latest snub...and it worked out well for Baltimore in the end. Quote
papasmurfbell Posted June 10, 2013 Posted June 10, 2013 I still think they screwed bmore. What was the pick Philthy gave to the Ravens? I think it was a 4th or something. It should have been higher since the Ravens had their whole FA wasted on a tradde the NFL said was legit. Quote
thundercleetz Posted June 10, 2013 Posted June 10, 2013 Continuing Dee's almost happened but lucky it didn't happen: how about the Viking botching the draft day deal where we would have gotten Byron Leftwich instead of Suggs? 1 Quote

How about the Falcons giving the Ravens their 2000 first round pick! They thought it would be high 20's or in the 30's. Ended up #5 and the Ravens got Jamal Lewis. 1 Quote

RavenMad Posted June 11, 2013 Posted June 11, 2013 I have talked about this trade everytime when saying to wheel and deal to gain more picks. But teams have wised up when it comes to the draft. Sure there are still some head scratchers now and again. But don't you think that Ozzie tries his hardest to get those deals every year? Even the Ravens Brass have admitted that most of the league has caught onto how to draft and we have had to dip into small school prospects more and more to find an edge over other teams. Quote
papasmurfbell Posted June 11, 2013 Posted June 11, 2013 Look what the Rams bend DC over for. There are always teams that are willing to throw their futures away. Quote
colincac Posted June 11, 2013 Posted June 11, 2013 Look what the Rams bend DC over for. There are always teams that are willing to throw their futures away.I think that was the exceedlingly rare case when there were 2 FRANCHISE QB's available. Teams won't trade that much except for a QB. Agree though that trading down/back seems to always be the best call these days. Quote
papasmurfbell Posted June 11, 2013 Posted June 11, 2013 Getting 3 #1's and a #2 is basically impossible but getting 2 #1's or whatever is more than possible. Quote

vmax Posted June 11, 2013 Posted June 11, 2013 Look what the Rams bend DC over for. There are always teams that are willing to throw their futures away. You have to have had a shitty season and record to be in position to make deals like this.No thanks Quote
RavenMad Posted June 12, 2013 Posted June 12, 2013 You have to have had a shitty season and record to be in position to make deals like this.No thanks Exactly. And in the case of the Redskins and Rams both teams won in that trade (assuming RGIII doesn't get injured every year). The fact is, we have been picking too late to really have a chance to get a trade like this. Sure there are teams like the Saints (traded a futre 1st to get the Heisman RB from Bama) that ocassionally make these trades but they are now the exception rather than the rule. I expect to see Ozzie start to trade up more. It seems that every team wants to trade down nowadays that there is actually good value in trading up. Ozzie did it in the 2nd this year for next to nothing to get Arthur Brown. Bill Bellicheat has started trading up more and he has been the master of the trade down in recent years. That is what makes teams like us and the Patriots so good at draft time. We stay ahead of the curve when it comes to draft tactics and we never overpay or undervalue our picks. Quote
cravnravn Posted June 12, 2013 Posted June 12, 2013 HEY...How about when we traded 2004's #1 draft pick for a QB that could throw it throw the goal posts from 50 yards out from his knees???? That was a doozie.. 1 Quote

Yeah Assante Samuels and Vince wilfork in no way were better than Boller. Oh yeah who made this trade? The same one who made the trade that turned into Ray Lewis.
