Joe's Challenge

The current situation doesn't matter. Joe has to do this....

Have you ever head of Zach Sudfield? Oh, he’s just New England’s latest tight end superstar. Don’t shake your head, it’s true.

The undrafted rookie free agent out of Nevada landed in a pretty sweet situation with the Patriots since the team is looking for help at the position. What with Aaron Hernandez in the clink and Rob Gronkowski looking more like Rob Gronkgimpy.

Sudfeld busted out big time against the Buccaneers on Friday. First, he pulled down an amazing two-point conversion pass from Tom Brady in the first quarter. He followed that with a 22-yard touchdown catch in the second quarter. Twitter, expectedly, blew up:

The point is Sudfield is no better than Furstenberg. Most of Brady's receivers are not better than Joe's. Brady makes it work....5,000 yards worth year after year.

Joe has to do the same.

There really is no excuse.

That last interception Joe threw vs. Atlanta- wheeew! He threw it to a Raven receiver with three Atlanta defenders practically glued to him.

Joe has to wake up mentally. Sometimes, it seems he falls to sleep out there. But, then again, it's preseason. Two more to go, then off to Denver, Co.

This is why some had a problem with his contract, he has to make his Wr's Te's and Rb's better than what they are, if you're making 62.5 over the next 3 years chances are your supporting cast might not be the best, so it is Joe's job to make them better.

Joe is never going to be Tom Brady. We're talking about one of the greatest QBs to ever play the game.

The QBs that come to mind when talking about Joe from this point on are Eli and Ben. Those two both cashed in on long-term deals like Joe. They both have their issues and inconsistencies, but when push comes to shove are clutch, big-game QBs. It won't be smooth sailing all the time with Joe, but the Ravens will absolutely get their money's worth.

Eisenberg is making excuses here. Yes it's the truth and "Yes" Joe has to make it work regardless.

Think about the parts of the Ravens’ Super Bowl offense that were missing Thursday night. It’s a long list – surprisingly long once you add it up.

Matt Birk, the starting center, now retired wasn’t there. Neither were receivers Anquan Boldin or Dennis Pittaicon-article-link.gif, Flacco’s two favorite targets. Bernard Pierceicon-article-link.gif, the team’s leading rusher down the stretch of 2012, was sidelined with an injury, as were Pro Bowl guard Marshal Yandaicon-article-link.gif, the team’s best blocker, and tight end Ed Dicksonicon-article-link.gif.

It's true.

It's also true that a big part of Joe's great playoff run was because,e over time, he had established an excellent playing rapport with all of his supporting cast. He had hit that "Intuitive Zone" great QB's and receivers hit when they have been playing together for a decent period of time. Just a thought or a look and they knew what the other was thinking and going to do. That takes a lot of time and practice....and talent.

I don't want to blame Joe in any way, shape or form if the Ravens offense falters. Truly it take 11 men working in tandem to be productive.

I am saying he can and must find a way to move the chains with whoever lines up.

That's his job. Hard as it may seem. Unfair as it may seem.

Joe has done this before. He did it before he had Pitta and Boldin.

He can do it again.

Agreed. He's not Brady.....but I'm not letting him off the hook because of that.

He's Joe Flacco and Joe's next level of growth is to make guys like Furstenberg produce like Sudfield.
