TBird Posted September 13, 2014 Posted September 13, 2014 We talked about it all summer and couldn't wait to see it. It laid a big egg in the openerbut flew on all cylinders when we needed it the most vs the hated Squeelers and during aweek of kaos surrounding the Ray Rice media blitz vs the organization. They controlled the lines on both sides of the ball and beat the Squeelers up bad, used their2 TEs over the middle like we said they would and their WR - Steve Smith and a running gamethat got 181 yards, who needs Rice, over Wagner, our new RT. We have our bookends. Piercegained 96 yards rushing on 22 totes and Forsett had a 40+ yard run for 56 yds overall. It's just getting started as Joe gets comfortable with his new weapons Smith and Daniels. http://www.csnbaltimore.com/blog/ravens-talk/kubiaks-offense-gets-gear-against-steelers Quote
tsylvester Posted September 13, 2014 Posted September 13, 2014 Hold your horses, 4 field goals.... Quote
varaven45 Posted September 14, 2014 Posted September 14, 2014 Exactly. We left another 2-3 TD on the field the other night. And we are still having some difficulty running inside the 10. Id like to see us start to work Lorenzo T in a play here and there. Keep in mind Cleveland and their so so QB Hoyer put up 24 points against the Steelers in Heinz field. Just saying .... Quote
TBird Posted September 14, 2014 Author Posted September 14, 2014 How many times have we beaten the hated Squeelers by 20 points and people are bitching about it. Plus, some people don'tknow what they're watching. Once the long field isn't behind the defense, they bring everyone in tight. They put their beefup on the line and a lot of it stacking the box, the line, everything. It's difficult to run down there because there not enough room. Where Zuttah had one guy or no guys to block he has2 or 3 guys. Look at the tape. He's pushed back on the QB sneak and Joe is knocked back. Couldn't even get a yardand he's a big dude. Same thing happened to Cinci last week. They should have had a half time lead of 28-0 but the defense toughened uponce they had the shor field behind them. Tough to run inside. Tucker is a big part of this offense who iced the SB after beating Denver in OT during the POs. Would you rather have Billy Goat? I think not. Some of you should see what they're saying in Pissburgh. They sure wish they had this offense. They're sayingtheir team was: out-scoredout-coachedout-draftedout-punched And that's for starters. They would gladly trade offenses at this point. A 2d year guy Brandon Williams pushed theirCenter and #1 pick Pouncey straight back into Big Jen causing him to miss the throw. Ngata had a big night. Ravens won the game in the trenches including the offense side of the trench with great blocking. Some fans just don't know that. Quote
oldno82 Posted September 14, 2014 Posted September 14, 2014 The blocking was good and the offense was what I've been looking for. But let's see how consistent they are over the next few games. 1 Quote
cravnravn Posted September 14, 2014 Posted September 14, 2014 Just remember for as bad as we played vs Cinncy we took the lead with 5 min to go, a mis match gave them the win. Quote
TBird Posted September 14, 2014 Author Posted September 14, 2014 That's what I said last week. Joe gave them the win with 6 mins left after how bad the offense was in the first half. Don't forget, it was thefirst game for it vs the div champs who beat us 34-14 in the last game last year. This offense was much better and should have wonthe opener vs Cinci. The offense is just getting started and Kubes will use more players like Torrey, JJ and Taliaferro as the season goes on and Joegets comfortable with everyone. Right now he's comfortable with SR, Daniels and PItta which we called over the summer. We saidKubes uses his 2 TES a lot. Torrey still figured in the game as he took his man deep, same as JJ. That opened up the middlefor the TEs and slot guy - SR. They can't cover everyone in this offense but JJ was wide open on one of those red zone attempts. Joe overthew the TEover the middle and JJ was wide open in the corner and once again Joe doesn't look around. He was locked in on hisprimary receiver who was covered and over threw him. Quote

Everyone talking about the "O" and yes Joe did some really dumb things in that game but as you are saying, we had the lead and we only gave up one fluke TD that I say would not had happen if Webb was playing, I'll even go as far as saying we would had won the game if Webb was playing. 2 games and gave up one fluke/lucky TD so far. TBird Posted September 14, 2014 Author Posted September 14, 2014 Exactly. We win that game with Webbie. His back is OK but he's out of shape and not in 100% condition to go at full speed. Itmay take 3 or 4 games to get into top shape. Maybe they could put him in for a few plays that he could endure. That said, their guy, James Wright was also out for the game. Quote
cravnravn Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 I think we win the game if Jimmy was covering AJ. Quote
varaven45 Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 Cleveland will provide a very stern test for this offense on Sunday. They defeated a very good and SB favorite Saints team yesterdayand will be sky high for an AFCN rival and, like ourselves, an opportunity to go 2 and 1. Look for a dogfight. Quote
TBird Posted September 15, 2014 Author Posted September 15, 2014 The Clowns almost beat Squeelers. One sack by Shazier took them out of FG range at the end. Pissburgh neededa last min drive from Jen to win it. Quote
oldno82 Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 I agree. The Browns will be tough. Hard to pick a winner just yet. Quote

cravnravn Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 We play the same game plan as we have, we'll be fine, week 1 was our first time seeing week 2 we fine tuned it, week 3, full throttle. Quote
vmax Posted September 17, 2014 Posted September 17, 2014 (edited) Want to know why Flacco was so accurate Thursday night?“The reasons are quite simple,” wrote ESPN’s Jamison Hensley. Here are five Hensley provides: 1) Gary Kubiak’s offense has Flacco throwing higher percentage passes (21 of his 29 attempts traveled 5 or fewer yards). Lots of shorter passes on slants to Steve Smith, his tight ends over the middle and running back Justin Forsett in the flat.2) Flacco didn’t force passes downfield, as he did in more vertical offenses under Cam Cameron and Jim Caldwell.3) In the West Coast offense, Flacco throws more in a rhythm and gets rid of the ball quicker.4) He showed more composure.5) Improved pass protection. Flacco was under duress or hit on just one of his 29 dropbacks, which was the safest pocket of any quarterback in Week 2. "Hey! Give me a cold bag of fries for rasta." Tornado700 Posted September 18, 2014 Posted September 18, 2014 I'm not completely sold on this offense. Not yet. Defense, yes. Quote
