Just like I hear/understand people who say, "we shouldn't stop his speech, it's his right and we should be allowed to hear his message in peace" (Ignoring the illogical legal argument in that) But then I think, "what was the point of walking into a whites only restaurant and sitting down knowing the outcome?" It's far from a perfect comparison, but our bodies can be our messages. Sometimes they have to be to say "no this isn't right and I don't give a damn that your lunch is disrupted" Quote

Respectfull do not see the comparison, although I see what you're getting at. Trump rallies are a special kind of stupid. That can be made apparent by watching clips. You can't fix stupid. Quote

It is talking about Hitlers speeches and how amusing he is discounting that he really means it. I think ppl are understanding history and are trying their damned not to repeat it. Quote
GrubberRaven Posted March 15, 2016 Posted March 15, 2016 I don't know...I'm so disenfranchised with it all honestly. Quote

RavenMad Posted March 15, 2016 Posted March 15, 2016 I do follow American politics as what happens with you guys does effect the rest of the world and especially as the UK/Ireland have such close ties with the US. Normally I can see a good candidate and usually you guys come through and vote in the right person. This time round I can't help but feel underwhelmed by all candidates. Seriously, is this lot the best you can come up with? God help us all. Quote
papasmurfbell Posted March 15, 2016 Posted March 15, 2016 You have to look at the system the establishment has created. You have to have so much money to run for office. To get that money you have to beg from rich ppl (there is time set asides every single day for a rep to hit the phones and beg for money and if you don't do it you are exiled and will be pushed out of your office next election). So now you are beholden to those ppl. Look at the Kochs and Sheldon Adelson. Also they start digging into you looking for everything. Why would a normal intelligent person put themselves through this? Quote

That can be made apparent by watching clips. You can't fix stupid. I'm not saying perfect comparison. But group think needs to be combatted some way somehow Also - less about "fixing" the people at the rally and more about messages to people not there. Certainly I want people there to see it as well but definitely want others to see that there is pushback and another view and people are not all on board. My point was more towards, "Whats the point?" and "They are just disruptive..." ... disruptive matters. Trump is intentionally running a disruptive campaign, "disrupting the establishment" Quote

You're only feeding he haters. Have there been Trump supporters at Democratic rallies? Quote
papasmurfbell Posted March 16, 2016 Posted March 16, 2016 There have been GOP supporters at Bernie rallies. Quote
GrubberRaven Posted March 16, 2016 Posted March 16, 2016 OK...I guess they play nice with them. What a bizarro landscape we live in... Quote
dc. Posted March 16, 2016 Posted March 16, 2016 Florida is going to be tough for trump in november, clinton destroyed him yesterday.Bigger problem: Trump is losing the rights base and will lose many independents. In VA, a swing state that relies on the urban vote, he list the urban vote hugely to Rubio and Kasich. So he's got little chance there. VA, OH, PA, CO... Can't see one go for Trump. Or Cruz. Quote
papasmurfbell Posted March 17, 2016 Posted March 17, 2016 The problem is if HRC is the nom how many ppl will just stay home on the left? If it is the two of them it really could be the lowest turnout in US election history. Quote
dc. Posted March 17, 2016 Posted March 17, 2016 I think an anti Trump or anti Cruz vote would emerge in her favor. I'm in that camp. I know some moderate GOPers who are too. Quote
papasmurfbell Posted March 17, 2016 Posted March 17, 2016 There are some. There are even dems who are anti-clinton and are for Trump. Both are the most negatives ever. I am pretty sure Clinton loses. Quote

I know some moderate GOPers who are too.I consider myself a moderate Republican. I would never vote for Trump or Cruz, but I would never vote for Hillary either. I'll go with what papa is saying, a Hillary/Trump election will be one of the lowest turnouts in recent history. Quote
