varaven45 Posted October 25, 2016 Posted October 25, 2016 There are "conflicting" reports that 49ers may be willing to part with Smith before Nov 1 deadline. Don't know whether its true and if there's mutual interest but he has hands, stays healthy and can burn.Food for thought ? Quote
tsylvester Posted October 25, 2016 Posted October 25, 2016 Inconsistent hands, poor route running, easily knocked off his route and timing, I think this team has enough players like him.... Quote
52isUnstoppable Posted October 25, 2016 Posted October 25, 2016 I was told Mike Wallace and Perriman were fast but I have yet to see them get a step on a DB all season. Meanwhile, Shittsburgh backup players like Sammie Coats and this Hamilton guy just run right past people for 50 yard bombs every single week. Quote
Robjr83 Posted October 26, 2016 Posted October 26, 2016 I loved Torrey. Great character guy with playmaking potential. That being said his last play as a Raven summed up his career. Joe threw a slightly high pass, Torrey refused to fight for the ball and it got picked off. If that was SSR on that play the DB would have gotten mugged. Torrey has always played soft, like tsy said way too easy for DBs to screw up a timing route by bumping him at the line. There's also the finicial aspect...I looked up his salary and for the next couple season his base salary will be 6.5 mil. Quote
varaven45 Posted October 26, 2016 Author Posted October 26, 2016 All good posts. It's frustrating how this organization hasn't drafted/developed a legit NFL receiver in 20 years. Why is that ? Quote

Robjr83 Posted October 27, 2016 Posted October 27, 2016 It had been years since I watched that play. It honestly looks worse now rewatching it. 3/4 of the way thru Torreys like nope ain't taking that hit. Quote

varaven45 Posted October 27, 2016 Author Posted October 27, 2016 Since Torieys not the guy and we're approaching the trade deadline and we are unable to draft our own wide receivers I wonder if somebody like AlSean Jeffrey might make sense. We've proven that we can homegrown our own receivers we might as well go ahead and start working on it now. What have we got to lose Quote
Robjr83 Posted October 27, 2016 Posted October 27, 2016 Jeffrey has the franchise tag on him. Hes making 14.5 mil and would only be a one year rental Quote
varaven45 Posted October 27, 2016 Author Posted October 27, 2016 Too bad, we could use a dude like that. Quote
52isUnstoppable Posted October 27, 2016 Posted October 27, 2016 We should have hard at Brandon Marshall when he was available. Or someone like Demarius Thomas would be a nice fit I think. A possession receiver with hands. Quote
tsylvester Posted October 27, 2016 Posted October 27, 2016 Jeffrey has the franchise tag on him. Hes making 14.5 mil and would only be a one year rentalAdd to that he is almost always hurt... We have plenty of guys like that as well... Quote
ravinmaniac52 Posted October 27, 2016 Posted October 27, 2016 different guys running the same plays equals same results Quote
oldno82 Posted October 28, 2016 Posted October 28, 2016 Don't forget, we don't want too many tough guys (like Boldin) to be on the team. Quote
cravnravn Posted October 28, 2016 Posted October 28, 2016 We could have Jerry Rice. Lynn Swann and Raymond Berry out there, we have no o-line Quote
varaven45 Posted October 28, 2016 Author Posted October 28, 2016 Yep, but when we fix the O Line (and we will fix it), we'll need the receivers to catch the ball. The FO still needs to address its inability to draft/find/cultivate WR talent like our AFCN brethren. Quote
