vmax Posted September 3, 2018 Posted September 3, 2018 I'm talking about the new receiving corps. Here they are: Wide receiver (six) Michael CrabtreeWillie Snead IVJohn BrownChris MooreJordan LasleyJanarion Grant I like hearing this.... “Crab tells me every day, ‘We’re going to be doing something serious this year,’ ” Snead said. “And I believe it, too.” And this.... Flacco’s connection with the threesome has not gone unnoticed.“They make more plays,” free safety Eric Weddle said. “Over the middle … those contested balls where usually we’re coming down with them [or] breaking them up, they’re coming down with them. Tough catches, where you go back and watch film and you say, ‘Man, that’s going to be a catch in the game. We couldn’t have done any more as a defense.’ It’s nice for us, and it’s nice to see Joe back there confident and hit that back foot and just fire it in there, not worried about it, not worried about the protection, not worried about the receiver. Whoever he’s throwing to, just fire it in there, and he’s confident those guys are going to make it. It’s exciting to watch how far they’ve come.”Crabtree, Brown and Snead have stressed that they will be only as successful as the entire offense is. Brown downplayed any notion that the trio will resurrect Flacco’s career.“Joe struggled with a few injuries, but it doesn’t matter who’s in the game,” Brown said. “I feel like he can make anybody look good, and he’s looking real good, and he’s healthy......http://www.baltimoresun.com/sports/ravens/bs-sp-ravens-new-receivers-20180820-story.html When you factor in that the passing game was miserable and inconsistent last year, then any upgrade will turn the Winning Meter skyward. These guys have to attack the ball and make plays. papasmurfbell Posted September 3, 2018 Posted September 3, 2018 I have no faith is Snead. He was so bad last yr. Also Jefferson forgets everyone kills the Ravens over the middle bc he and Weddle are there. Quote
oldno82 Posted September 3, 2018 Posted September 3, 2018 I expect them to be better because I think they have a lot more talent and a healthy, fired-up Joe to get throws from. On paper and from camp reports, they are clicking well. Of course, I thought they'd be better last year after signing Macklin. And then Joe hurt his back. Ugh! Quote
papasmurfbell Posted September 3, 2018 Posted September 3, 2018 But like Macklin the same issue with the new WRs. Injury/not performing in the past and expecting that to change here. Quote
vmax Posted September 4, 2018 Author Posted September 4, 2018 The depth behind them remains the same. You have Moore and then a bunch of guys who can't catch and make plays. Quote
Tornado700 Posted September 9, 2018 Posted September 9, 2018 After this 1st game, I would respectfully have to disagree with Papa here. There are two big differences between us. He hates the Ravens. I love 'em! Quote
oldno82 Posted September 10, 2018 Posted September 10, 2018 They've shown they're an upgrade for sure. It'll be very interesting to see how they do Thursday! Quote
GrubberRaven Posted September 11, 2018 Posted September 11, 2018 It was one game. True. As I said to some friends, are the Ravens this good, or the Bills that bad? "Somewhere in the middle." I was entertained, but we have 15 games to go. Seeing a great passing O was very refreshing. Did you not enjoy watching the game Sly? Quote
tsylvester Posted September 11, 2018 Posted September 11, 2018 Oh sure did Grub, I enjoyed it greatly. But I also saw that the defense was playing against Nathan freaking Peterman, he better stick to clothes making.... And there was no running game, again, when the game mattered. Redzone offense was great, the play selection, route combos etc. First game, they did not show everything, but a healthy Joe amd receivers running good routes was nice to see. 1 Quote
papasmurfbell Posted September 11, 2018 Posted September 11, 2018 Peterman might be the worst QB I have ever seen. It was very close. Quote
GrubberRaven Posted September 11, 2018 Posted September 11, 2018 Peterman might be the worst QB I have ever seen. It was very close. Makes no sense that they got rid of Taylor. Quote
tsylvester Posted September 11, 2018 Posted September 11, 2018 Taylor was not much better, keeping him would just keep the questions gping about who should start him or the rook. I think there is no question now... Quote
GrubberRaven Posted September 11, 2018 Posted September 11, 2018 Peterson may get one more start. If Taylor has another clunker, Mayfield may be starting soon too. Cleveland's D is legit. Quote
tsylvester Posted September 11, 2018 Posted September 11, 2018 Yeah, they have had a good defense for a few years now. The problem has always been no offense and a lack of discipline. Niw they have the weapons on offense, they just need a good qb, enter Mayfield. I agree, one more game like that and the rook has to be put in, for both the Bills & Browns. Quote
papasmurfbell Posted September 11, 2018 Posted September 11, 2018 Makes no sense that they got rid of Taylor. They got a return for him. They know Allen will be their guy. He was prodcutive Sunday. Of what I saw of Taylor on Sun it looked like his recivers let him down. Quote
tsylvester Posted September 11, 2018 Posted September 11, 2018 He was 15 of 40, they may have dropped a few, certainly not 25 of them. Lol Quote
papasmurfbell Posted September 11, 2018 Posted September 11, 2018 I only saw those last several mins in OT. Quote
