Greg Roman will be the offensive coordinator going forward as part of a potential re-organization of the Ravens' offensive coaching staff. John Harbaugh confirmed the change.

And he doesn't have Andrew Luck as his QB.They just have to get this closer to a 50/50 run pass ratio.Get a 25-30% improvement in the passing game as far as completions. The yardage will spike up as Lamar improves.

Overall, the Ravens finished No. 9 in the league in total offense, No. 2 in rushing and No. 13 in scoring – more than respectable numbers. Very quietly, they established a new franchise record for most first downs in a season. They also gained an average of 69 more yards per game compared to 2017. A lot has been made about the Chargers’ defensive players telling reporters that they knew what was coming on a lot of plays, that the Ravens were tipping their hand in various ways. Whatever happened there obviously needs to be fixed.More important going forward, though, was Jackson’s inability to make the Chargers pay for daring him to beat them in the air. He's a very talented runner and leader but his passing is erratic and his ball security is poor. I love the kid and hope he works out. Right now, when you think about it, he's the only QB we have. They should re-sign RGIII who has handled himself with class and shown a lot of promise as a QB for us the times he's played. We need to vastly improve the offensive line so Lamar has time to throw when he does sit in the pocket. They should keep Snead. Maybe Smoke too. At least that's how I feel now.

Big, physical offensive linemen who can protect Jackson as both a runner and a thrower will be a requirement moving forward. Having wide receivers who can accept fewer targets than they might get elsewhere, and who are willing to block and catch passes over the middle, will become a bigger priority. With Jackson running the football frequently, having a dependable backup quarterback is also important, which could factor into the Ravens’ desire to keep Robert Griffin III. Baltimore did an impressive job changing its offense dramatically midseason once Jackson took over as the starter. But the Ravens now have a full offseason to plot their offseason philosophy, and to pursue players that fit."

With the exception of last week I do think Lamar has improved each week. I'm hopeful a full off-season of preparation will help even more. I agree about the offensive line, not sure about the receivers. Smoke started great so I guess I'd keep him. The rest I'm not sure. A legit #1 WR would be fantastic and might have a trickle down affect on the others. With the exception of Edwards I'm not sure which I'd bring back at RB.

The Gs need upgraded too. Okay w Stanley and Zeus II as OTs. But that’s 3 positions that need upgrade. We need help at WR and RBs. That’s at least 5 picks for the O side. Still have to address D including pass rusher, LB (1 or 2), and safety. That’s about 9 to upgrade. Between FA & the draft, DeCosta & Co will have a busy, challenging off season.

oldno82 Posted January 13, 2019 Posted January 13, 2019 Gus is good. He should stay. The other running back can be a late rounder. 2 OG's and a C are the priority without a doubt. I don't know how we're going to get better receivers but we could use them. Edge rusher and Safety are middle priority needs but needs nonetheless. Da Costa will be burning up the phone lines no doubt. I'm hoping we can get a second round pick for Joe and maybe an additional late round pick. A rarity for the Ravens will be that they have to and can compete in the FA market.

varaven45 Posted January 15, 2019 Posted January 15, 2019 Well see. I do like the D sans the needs for a ballhawk S, roving LB and an elite pass rusher. Offensively, gotta fix the OL, establish the speed run and pass game. Lamars the key. If he improves from an off-season, well be competitive again- just like this season. If not, we could struggle mightily and look up to Steelers and Browns. If that happens and Lamar doesnt get it - through a full year- we might as well start getting in line for the Clemson QB in 2021 or whenever. Btw - Id still like to pick up a Nick Foles type in this offseason for insurance. Having RG III as a backup is a slippery slope that I dont want any part of. If we do that, we might as well make a deposit now for the next Trevor Lawrence.
