vmax Posted September 24, 2019 Posted September 24, 2019 Prelude:The Ravens first real game and test was Sunday against the Chiefs. On an off day by Lamar and a bad day for the Ravens D, they were still only 1 minute away from a damn good chance to win the game. They played against Mahomes. Let me remind you about this on Mahomes from USA Today.."Through 20 career games, Patrick Mahomes is greatest quarterback statistically in NFL history, and it's not even close. Includes 60 TD throws, 115.3 rating." Remember that.Because Mayfield, McDonald and Dalton are not even close in damage ability. If ever the Ravens had a good chance to sweep the division, then it's these next 3 weeks. The timing is right.Somehow....probably through incidental exposure to Papa....I don't believe that will happen. But WOW! if they did. Remember: Divisional games are different. Everybody knows each other. Everybody plays tough against each other. The wins are tight. Often nail biters. We have 3 games as a small sample size. The Ravens hold the edge as the #1 offense in yards. Bengals are 18th, Browns 24th and Steelers 30th.In points scored Ravens are #1. Bengals #25 and Browns and Steelers tied at 27. Defense...yards... .Ravens dropped to #16. Browns at 10. Bengals 27. Steelers 29.Points surrendered.. Ravens have given up 60. Browns 66. Bengals 83 and Steelers 85. The Improbable Run starts Sunday. Once again, this will be the Browns Super Bowl. They are fighting for their season. I do not see them as an easy out.In a way, the same is true for the Ravens. They can begin to take command with a win Sunday. Quote
tsylvester Posted September 25, 2019 Posted September 25, 2019 It should be interesting, if the defense doesn't improve, then the Ravens either win 107-99 or lose 107-99 in each of the next 3 games..... Hold onto your hats, buckle your seat belts get the excedrine and tums ready folks, this might be a bumpy ride... Arms & legs inside the vehicle are optipnal... Quote
varaven45 Posted September 25, 2019 Posted September 25, 2019 Yep, the next 3 weeks will be telling. And It all starts Sunday with a slobber knocker at M & T. Lamar vs Baker; it should be a fun, exciting game in what promises to be a long term rivalry between AFCN foes.Looks like another 2-3 point margin of victory. Quote
oldno82 Posted September 25, 2019 Posted September 25, 2019 Cleveland will be tough. The Ravens will be tougher. The Ravens will be pissed about KC and playing at home. The Browns will be trying to prove that all the pre-season accolades about them were true. Quote
tsylvester Posted September 25, 2019 Posted September 25, 2019 We shall see; 1) Will the defense improve? 2) Which Lamar do we have? Accurate, touch, anticipation, reading coverage? 3) Wide outs get seperation, run proper, timing routes? 4) Play selection- play design to help the aforementioned 5) Ball contrrol to help #1 These three weeks should answer all of these questions.. tsylvester Posted September 25, 2019 Posted September 25, 2019 Well, here is a sure way of blowing out team or getting beaten by blowing out pride... "The media was talking about OBJ and that tandem and Baker Mayfield, the next savior," Thomas said Wednesday. "Then, to add on to that, Coach [John Harbaugh] talked about it a couple of times in meetings. So guys kind of got tired about it." What was Harbaugh's message? "He was just talking about what it looked like on paper," Thomas said. "And guys heard that, and basically, like, 'It sounds good, but we'll see.'"But there is more.... "... Now we are playing the season, and all of that stuff gets determined during the season. It is part of it now, but it is not really a time to rank that. I had not thought about it in those kind of terms. You are just trying to put a game plan together and do the best we can on Sunday." The Browns have struggled, losing both of their home games. Cleveland is one game back of division-leading Baltimore (2-1). The teams split their two games last season. "You have to play football at the end of the day," Ravens running back Mark Ingram said. "You can have as many players as you want to on paper, but if guys don't mesh and don't communicate well and play well together, it really doesn't mean anything. We're going to have to play them twice. That's why you line up and play football -- to settle the score."https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/27699724/thomas-says-ravens-got-tired-browns-hype Quote
papasmurfbell Posted October 6, 2019 Posted October 6, 2019 Next week should be a relative easy win. Quote

tsylvester Posted October 6, 2019 Posted October 6, 2019 Well, no AJ Green so he won't abuse this defense unless he heals suddenly... Quote
