vmax Posted October 17, 2019 Posted October 17, 2019 Battle of the birds and nobody's picking the Ravens. I get it.As I see it, the Ravens do have a chance to win. Now here comes the "IF'SThey are going to make mistakes due to the crowd noise and environment. Like OTR stated on another thread....take the crowd out of it with long sustained drives. The Browns jumped out to an early lead and the Ravens need to do the same. Lamar them to death.Score TD's not FG's. They will need every point that they can get. Remember: It's Wilson vs the Ravens D. This is a game where they have to show that they can find ways to win vs finding ways to lose. Minimize penalties, win the turnover battle, win field position and time of possession. The Ravens are playing a very good playoff contender. Their second real test of the season. They almost pulled it off against the Chiefs in that loud and hostile stadium. The Seahawks, like the Ravens, have beaten nobody, only their wins were close. Maybe it's time for the Seahawks to find out if they are contenders or pretenders. Maybe they leave the game disappointed. Insiders predict: Seattle Seahawks- Favored to win: Seattle Seahawks- Spread: -3.5- Odds: -180- Baltimore Ravens team stats:- Offense: 450.7 yards per game (#1 in the league)--- Passing offense: 245.7 ypg (#14)--- Rushing offense: 205.0 ypg (#1)- Defense: 350.2 yards per game (#13 in the league)--- Passing defense: 269.5 ypg (#25)--- Rushing defense: 80.7 ypg (#4)- Seattle Seahawks team stats:- Offense: 399.0 yards per game (#5 in the league)--- Passing offense: 268.5 ypg (#8)--- Rushing offense: 130.5 ypg (#9)- Defense: 359.8 yards per game (#20 in the league)--- Passing defense: 267.0 ypg (#23)--- Rushing defense: 92.8 ypg (#11) Quote
tsylvester Posted October 17, 2019 Posted October 17, 2019 If they come out throwing, they are going to lose big. If they can keep the running game going, they stand a chance. Even with Peterson in the mix, this defense is likely to get eaten up by the pass, so the less they are on the field, the better.... Constant pressure on Wilson, awareness is the word of the day for this game; know your lanes. Study to see what his hot routes are so that when they blitz, there will be nothing open. A second longer of coverage, can make a big difference. Quote
varaven45 Posted October 17, 2019 Posted October 17, 2019 Agreed with all the above. In my mind, there are three keys for being successful this Sunday: 1. Control LOS and TOP by running the ball down their throats. Do not abandon the run ! 2. Play within themselves on D and avoid the "big plays" by RW. 3. Stay composed and play smart - no analytics and cute plays please. Quote
vmax Posted October 17, 2019 Author Posted October 17, 2019 OK...we know the D is a very real weakness. Usually the D was the main reason the Ravens could go into any stadium with a chance to win.Well...we don't have that luxury right now....but we have Lamar. The more that I think about it, what a steal Lamar was for the Ravens in the draft! He's the real deal play maker. Exciting as hell to watch. An attraction. Nerves of steel. Driven to excel. Focused. He just might take down Goliath Sunday. Another first.... Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson was selected as the FedEx Ground NFL Player of the Week on Thursday, becoming the first player in the NFL award’s 17-year history to win both the air and ground weekly honors in the same season. Jackson, who received FedEx Air NFL Player of the Week honors after a historic season-opening performance, set a career high with 152 yards on 19 attempts and one touchdown in the Ravens’ 23-17 win Sunday over the Cincinnati Bengals. He’s only the third quarterback in the Super Bowl era to rush for at least 150 yards in a game. https://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/nfl/twice-as-nice-ravens-qb-lamar-jackson-makes-history-with-fedex-ground-nfl-player-of-the-week-honors/ar-AAIW9Sr?ocid=U508DHP Quote
tsylvester Posted October 17, 2019 Posted October 17, 2019 Time will tell if he can continue to evolve or if he ends up an RG3, Mike Vick, win regular season games with his legs but can't pass into the playoffs or injuries. We know he can't run like that for very long, look no further than Carolina and Cam, Andrew Luck & the Colts. Running and hits cost Luck a long career, Cam, well, it remains to be seen if his shoulder & foot ever recover. Time, patience & time Quote

Last Sunday he was getting reckless with his running. He was not getting down when the time came. Quote
vmax Posted October 18, 2019 Author Posted October 18, 2019 The Mahomes injury last night does send up flags.Dislocated knee? He's not the same as last year. whatever....QB's are dropping like flies this year. Back to the game. "What do you think Mike?" What’s at stakeThis is a statement game in quite a few ways. The Ravens have struggled with NFC teams and the Seahawks are tough to beat at home. CenturyLink Field is one of the loudest stadiums in the NFL and the Seahawks have a 97-42 record there since 2002, the most home wins of any NFC team in that time span. The Ravens have rolled up a lot of yards and wins against teams that don’t have winning records, but Seattle is 5-1. If the Ravens can beat the Seahawks, they will be taken seriously around the league. If not, they will still be considered pretenders. Quote
GrubberRaven Posted October 18, 2019 Posted October 18, 2019 Seahawk wins are just as weak as Ravens...none of their wins have come against winning teams... Quote
papasmurfbell Posted October 20, 2019 Posted October 20, 2019 Wish it was a 1pm game but glad its on Fox. BTW why is it on Fox? I thought it went by the visiting team which network gets the coverage. Quote
tsylvester Posted October 20, 2019 Posted October 20, 2019 It doee sometimes, but networks also get to choose. I hate fox's coverage, but a 4:30 game for an east coast team traveling to the west coast is a break the Ravens could use... Nice to see Green Bay play... Quote
papasmurfbell Posted October 20, 2019 Posted October 20, 2019 The ravens have never won pout there so I dont see this as a break. Quote
tsylvester Posted October 20, 2019 Posted October 20, 2019 It's more of a break than playing at 1 pm when traveling coast to coast. Whether or not they can win it gives them a better chance. Just look at SanFran for current proof.. But there is ample evidence that team going coast to coast to play a 1 pm game usually lose. The weather ia likely to hinder the quickness of Jackson... Quote
papasmurfbell Posted October 20, 2019 Posted October 20, 2019 Also teams going from east to west coast. Any team going from one to the other is hindered. Quote

But they're not alone — EST teams as a whole have struggled against West division opponents, winning 41 percent of their games since the start of the 2002 season. Only four of 17 teams have managed to win more games than they've lost (Colts, Panthers, Patriots and Falcons). Quote

It will also hinder the Seahawks defenders. Lamar will know where he is going, defenders will not. As far as east coast teams going west. It's not a factor. West coast teams coming east that's a different story, unless your playing the Foreskins Quote

tsylvester Posted October 20, 2019 Posted October 20, 2019 Great start, can they finish this drive? Quote
tsylvester Posted October 20, 2019 Posted October 20, 2019 Good play call, terrible play by Stanley.. Awareness people, awareness Quote
tsylvester Posted October 20, 2019 Posted October 20, 2019 So much room to return it, Jones, not so aware, terrible return attempt Quote
tsylvester Posted October 20, 2019 Posted October 20, 2019 That will work, Wagner cant keep up with Lamar Quote
