  1. If you rewatch the play, or watch in on NFL all 22, you see Elam had that side of the field, the defense was 1/2 in the middle, man outside with a cross blitz on up front. Elam had that half of the field and with only two receivers in routes, one on each side, I have no idea what he was doing so far away from the only reciever on his side.....
  2. Maybe five, but 6? Last year they kept 5, which is their average save for a couple of seasons where they carried 4. They carried 8 offensive lineman last year, this year's crop is not worth 8 but you need depth, good or bad. Six on the defensive line, last year they carried 10 linebackers, not sure they keep that many this year, but they might. Two quarterbacks for sure, they carried five runningbacks last year, I think they just go with four this year, they are all playing very well. Three tight ends for sure... They had 11 in the secondary last year, should hold the same this year given the youth, injury history and lack of true quality. Throw enough at the wall, something will stick. 3 specialist, so that is 52, minimum, leaving 1 spots open team wide. So let us see, Smith, Smith, Jones, Brown and I think Aiken for sure. Aiken, as I said, has been very good blocking, routes and shown good hands. Next pre season game I expect him to get more reps with the first team to see how well he can do with a real quarterback throwing to him. So that last roster spot comes down to which position needs it more, with the safeties being subpar so far, the injuries at db and the lack luster play as well, this should be interesting.
  3. Tough call for sure, how many receivers will they carry? Four, five maybe? Even with the big returns last night, he still struggles against the press coverage and with making catches in traffic. With the way Aiken, who not only runs great routes but blocks, very, very well, is playing, I just do not see room for Donte. Do the math for the team, now needing to keep several db's because of injury or sucky play, that may take up the last roster leaving no room to keep five or more wr's.
  4. Well, all xrays were negative so that rules out a broen rib/punctured lung. I've never heard of any one spitting up blood from a concusion, had quite a few my self. Sturnum checked out too, so chances are it is nothing serious.
  5. He is not the only one. Once again, Elam was out of position, resulting in a touchdown. We saw the proper safety play in that defensive scheme, when he got the int. Maybe elam can learn something from a future burger flipper...... Oh yes, and he still cannot cover.....
  6. Thompson is trying too hard, he needs to just trust his hands. Sadly, some never truly get it, I doubt he makes the team, they just cannot afford any more project receivers, time is out.
  7. Im surprised he lasted this long.
  8. It is simply amazing how hard he worked to go from a pretty much average at best college qb to what he is now; one of the best ever.
  9. torn achilles they are saying now....
  10. Such a shame, he had a very good game, and can play two positions.... hope it turns out well.
  11. He is not accurate, makes poor decisions and is slow to react, that is why he is bench material. They keep him around because he is good at running some of the other offenses on the scout team, namely, those of teams with true running quarterbacks.....
  12. True, but a lot of that was the rookie, so quick to the hole and a road grader.....
  13. I think the rookie will over take them both, especially late in games if the Ravens have the lead and in the redzone.
  14. so much to take away, but let us not get carried away. First pre season game, many of those plays the texans ran and defenses picked up on; pick six style, anticipating the throws. Remember, it wasn't just one game, but one series; BIG DIFFERENCE. No depth, none, on the offensive line. sure, the first group looked great, imagine the big rookie back running behind them but that second unit, on the whole is horrible. One injury along the line and the team is dead in the water. The defensive line looks lik it has great depth, gonna be hard to cut some one from there.... receivers looks like a strength too, good routes, snatching balls from than air rather than catching them; finally..... That defense though, run right over until the front five got stout in the redzone. this new emphasis on hand checking is going to kill the defense, the corners all play that way and safety is still a big concern for me..... More games to see.....
  15. just what tele land needs, another fake reality show.........
  16. Papa, re-read what I stated. I gave him grace for being a rookie and learning a new system; hint-every rookie goes through that process. However, lest I remind you, I was not a fan of the Ravens drafting him for this very reason- not very bright. Will he prove me wrong? Maybe, but so far, nothing he has done has shown he will.
  17. Sounds like Daniels has the Dallas Clark syndrom; old age catching up to him quickly, such a shame.
  18. Yes, I played football for close to 12 years, thank you, was very successful and have studied the game for now 40 years. But that does not matter. what does is that he was not asked to play "in a pinch", that would be understandable. He had all of the offseason & camps, preseason games and a full 16 games to learn the system and could not . Yes, because he is young, yes, because of his "talent" like every othr player he gets more time to learn the schemes. Calling Pees a liar, how do you get that papa? You do know, in fact I know you knw, we have dicussed this many years ago on the other board, coaches sometimes use the media to send messages to players. Yes, Hill is that talented as Pees said, but as I said, there is no way the Ravens bring him in, then go so far as to mention him in a presser, unless other players need to step up. One more screw up and Hill is out for a year or more. Factor in the fact the Ravens used two solid draft picks on the safety position the past two years pretty much tells you they did not need depth at the position unless one or more of the players in the secondary are not meeting expectations. We know Brown is struggling, a player they were counting on to break out at corner. Which means, with Webb injured, again, cough, couch, Stewart has to slide over, if even in practice... So why would the Ravens, thin at corner, sign a suspended for 6 games, on his last strike safety if both safeties, young, were living up to expectations?
  19. I think it was loud & clear to the entire secondary...
  20. Are you serious? It doesn't matter if he was to play ss or fs, the fact remains, he was late getting into position and or out of position many, many times. His suppsed coverage ability came into question numerous times last year. He struggled with the concepts of the defense all last year and now we have the team signing not only another safety (who can play either) but one with a troubled past who is being suspended for six games this year, one more issue and he will be gone for a long time. Add to that, this player, who came from another team, has picked up the defense quickly, so much so, the DC pointed him out. This speaks volumes to both current young safeties that they need to pick things up. Come on papa, you are smarter than this....
  21. Yes, I know, one who has a habbit of being late & out of position. That is why Pees wants Hill in there, some experience to guide Elam. Two young safeties back there was their idea before camp started, obviously with this signing and Pees's comments, things are not working out. I guess we find out more as the games start.... Good thing there are four preseason games, this team is going to need them...
  22. Brown has all the tools to be a solid corner/nickleback, if he can just get his head on straight and trust his talent. Monroe, as I said when they traded for him; he is very weak at the point of attack, a year older he is slower to getting to the 2nd level and even in zone blocking at the los. a big waste.... I hope he turns it around, Joe needs a good left tackle....
  23. sounds like Elam is not making any gains so far this year, maybe more time and some pre season games will get him over the hump; he has a long way to go based on last year,,,,
  24. must be voting season, new paving being done and now, more wagon jumping.......
  25. That does not answer my question. I was not speaking about Rice per se`, nor excussing what he did. My point, my question, is it ever ok to strike a women?
