And for God's sake, stop passing every time on 3rd or 4th and 1. If you can't ever convert that, you should t be playing football.
-
I think you'll eat your words Sunday. Regardless; we won't win without a huge contribution on the ground. Bank that !
-
Starting Sunday, our offense will not just try but needs to fully commit to the running game. Eli Manning and his WR corps have extremely underperformed thus far. Since the Giants have little or no running game, Eli will be slinging it around to Beckham, Cruz, etc. To be competetive this Sunday, our offense need to unleash a running attack and minimize Mannings time on the field. I trust this will part of Marty's mantra going forward in the weeks ahead, too.

The Jamal game was a blast - had my Cleveland Browns fan and brother in law with me that day. Made him stay the whole entire game ! Miss that smash mouth running game. Imagine how this offense and Joe could put up some points. With West, Buck Allen and Dixon - they've got the trio . Just need the mind to run the O and an OL to open up the lanes !
-
Crav, Was at the game yesterday and every time West ran on the left side, he had a minimum . A MINIMUM of 5 yards. 5 YARDS !!!!! How this offense DID NOT take advantage of POUNDING and SHOVING the ball down the SKINS throats is inexplicable and unacceptable. My whole section (105) was screaming when we passed on 3rd and 1 and/or 4th and 1. Even the skins fans were in disbelief and felt like we handed them the game. I watched Jamal Lewis 295 yd game back in 2003 against Browns. This game had the makings of this kind of bludgeoning. We took the foot of their throats and let em off the hook. And a result, this team is 3-2 instead of an easy 4-1. I don't know what the new OC has in store, but it needs to include a 100 % commitment to the running game and, on occasion, letting Joe throw the damn ball downfield,

One thing for sure - something is way wrong with the offense. Something had to be done before the season gets completely away.

At the game today at M&T. This loss had much to do with horrible coaching and especially offensive play calling . Trest man needs to go now !
-
I'd really like to see the running game take off, especially with the kid Dixon playing !
-
Expecting a bludgeoning huh ? Hope not ; I'll be at game

Predictions ? Any guesses? How about another last minute score to win it. Which team? Flip a coin.

The trends are inarguable and aren't encouraging. Maybe this year is a transition and a return to winning is forthcoming. But the talent level, especially the playmakers and game-changers, isn't what it was. With the possible exception of the DL, can anyone point to a single home grown/drafted game changer on the roster ? We keep saying every draft that Ozzie needs to hit a home run. We keep waiting for the HR. Hope I'm wrong and this team is on the rise and the talent hasn't emerged. Time will tell.
-
Yep, agreed on the Ozzie/FO observation. Aside from the DL or front 7, our pool of young talent has been dwindling over the past 5-6 years, if not longer. Meanwhile, Cincy and Pittsburgh keep loading and reloading. Pittsburgh must have 6-7 offensive weapons, including oft-suspended, Doobie Brothers - Leveon Bell & Martavis Bryant - that we are no longer capable or adept at drafting . Its sickening to watch Cincy and Pittsburgh put these studs on the field every Sunday.. Even Cleveland, with its woeful FO, is able to draft a decent player or playmaker. Meanwhile, we have the walking wounded or china dolls - Perryman, Max Williams, Elam, etc. The list goes on..... This is obviously not the same ownership, FO and culture we enjoyed much of last decade. Someone, including the Biscuit, needs to step up, right the ship and re-invent a tough, winning culture. We are losing ground every year.

Nice consolation prize but would have rather had the W on Sunday. Definitely something to build on but the backend still needs a lot of work.
-
Crav, they both had 89-73 records. Jays won tiebreaker.

After yesterday's coulda - shoulda, it's clear we are going to grind EVERY GAME from here on. The difference between winning and losing will come down to whether we make the key stop or score to win. So far, we are 3-1; could easily be 1-3. Could be 4-0 too. Moving forward, there are 3 things this team has to do to win. 1. The backend and pass rushing combo has to collaborate better . Doom and Sizzle need to get their sacks; CB Wright needs to be benched in favor of Tavon Young. 2. The offense line has got to improve and we need to keep pounding the rock with West, Allen and Dixon (healthy). Joe and the O can't succeed without an effective running game. Yesterday's game showed some promise even with our backup left side OL. 3. As everyone knows, the offensive playcalling and tempo has to change. We need to pick up the pace, go vertical more often, and run more diverse WR and TE sets. Too much predictability and ease for the defense. We have some weapons; just need to unleash them.

Slobber knocker with a game ending field goal

Carolina at home a couple of years ago; Tampa at their place same year

Ha! The chinaman brings em back from the dead !

Os picked a helluva time and place - Toronto - to go into fetal position. Probably a good thing as we would only get embarrassed in playoffs. Buck and the boys have a LOT of damn work in the offseason: Getting an actual lead off hitter for the first time in over a decade Getting 2-3 more legit SPs. And learning how to score outside of the long ball. It should be an interesting offseason.
-
Anyone know if they practiced today. We need these cats back on the field.
-
Well, you are in good company. I'm wrong all the dang time but every now and then I get it right.

Max, have your visine ready Sunday afternoon

Listening to NFL Network last night - Pat Kirwin and Jim Miller - and they talked about how teams have had success vs Oakland D. They mentioned how Atlanta's O had huge success by running multiple TE sets against Oakland's D. It really openend up the passing game for Ryan who had a super performance. Isnt time for Trestman/Flacco to utilize our TEs ? Aside from the running game, I cant thing of an area that is more underutilized. Time to get the big boys going !

Kudos to the D. Great job through week 3 !!!
