I've found out, too late, that what they were advertising was streaming via an app on smartphones called 'Verylocal', which I've never heard of. There's apparently some tie-in between that app and wbal. By the way, Monday will be the first padded practice of camp. Time for the new players to step up and show what they can do. So far they've done well but it's only been wearing shells. Reports in the media indicate Rosengarten is off to a slow start. Can't wait for the first preseason game against the Eagles in two weeks to see the youngsters in action.

By the way, Lamar looks really engaged in the whole program this year. If he can get decent protection, he might just have a banner contract year.

I know Ledford is quite respected throughout the league. We're lucky to have him. And from what i've heard so far, the offensive line has bought into his approach. If any coach can turn around the line, it's him.

Gee, after all that has transpired on this subject, this is certainly surprising but welcome news. Now they just have to get him into football shape by week 1. If he is even close to what he was before getting injured, this will further help the defense in its attempt to 'scare other teams'.

OK here's the deal: I called wbal-tv and they are not showing it but did say that ESPN and the NFL Network are broadcasting 'look-ins' during the 11am to 1pm practice. I imagine that's about all we'll see live.

I dunno...I searched for it on ChatGPT and it said there are no plans 'at present' to show the whole practice live. My Verizon tv guide also doesn't show it. I'd say I was hallucinating when I thought I saw it but my wife saw it too. In any case I'm sure they'll show some highlights from it sometime. I'm really hungry to see the new and veteran players and especially the new coaching regime in action. Guess I'll have to wait for the first pre-season game August 15 against the Iggles.

At last, it's time for camp with veterans reporting Tuesday. I believe I saw a blurb on TV saying WBAL TV was going to show the practice live but I have not been able to confirm that as of yet.

I just watched a clip on Yahoo sports. There certainly was a lot of non response from the team to his exhortations. But it's only day one. Lets see where the Giants are at season's end to really be able to rate him.

I've been reading a lot in the media about how the Ravens 'need' to add a veteran receiver. I don't see why, at least at this point. We've got Surratt and the other WR we drafted who's name escapes me and I think they ought to have a chance along with Dez Walker for a place on the depth chart. Sure they're young but I really don't want to see a continuation of the Harbaugh philosophy that by default a veteran (especially an aged one) is always better than giving a young guy a chance. Before you know it, our young receivers are in the 3rd year of their rookie contract with only one year to go just as they are hitting their stride. Lets give them an opportunity sooner.

Well it won't hurt to have him. I guess the Bears aren't interested in making a deal. Or we don't want to pay what they're asking.

I remember Lee Evans drop of an easy game winning TD pass as the Ravens lost to the Pats in the AFC Championship Game. The only receivers that spring to mind for Joe were a Derrick Mason toward the end of his career, and Qadry Ismail and Dennis Pitta. Decent but he had nobody like Flowers. And with one exception, he didn't have a killer OC either: Since the start of the 2012 season, Brady has had one offensive coordinator and Ryan has had two. In comparison, Flacco has had five offensive coordinators over the past five seasons -- the most for an NFL starting quarterback over that span. This isn't to suggest Flacco would've enjoyed the same success as Brady and Ryan if he had more cohesion with play-callers. He's just had more challenges with the ever-changing voice in his ear. While Brady has had continuity with Josh McDaniels and Ryan has developed a comfort level with Dirk Koetter and Kyle Shanahan, Flacco has gone from Cam Cameron to Jim Caldwell to Gary Kubiak to Marc Trestman to Marty Mornhinweg. Kubiak was the only real good one out of that deal.

The quality of his receivers didn't help him any. He Wasn't a 'great' quarterback but he was good enough if he had had more talent around him. And don't forget the quality of the OC's he had in those days.

I agree with your assessment and I was happy with that pick.

Nonetheless, having 2 first round picks in the draft is usually going to be a boon to any team, especially one like the Ravens. I give credit to Bellichek for making the recommendation for Ray though. And, Bill was the coach when the Browns went 5-11 that last season he was their coach.

Yeah, I was including him as one of the 4 receivers we drafted...two of them are TE's and reports have been positive about them so far.

Yes...I'm excited about this draft class too, especially Vega and the 4 receivers. We have to remember that the year we got Ogden and Ray we had two first round picks and were picking high because we stunk the year before. I also think the running back pick in this year's draft may turn out to be a sleeper. Concerned about O-line meshing but the new line coach has a good reputation and coaching could well have been the downfall for us last year as well as Lamar's injuries. We are looking good, so far, in the skill positions so it will be interesting to watch how the whole team evolves. It's good our opening schedule is a little soft because it will give the team time to develop the new additions and draft picks. We'll start to see how things are going in just a couple more weeks. Seems to me like it's been a long off-season and I'm ready for some football!

Well, I, for one, will hate it when Steve does leave. He created a mighty organization here for many years. Oz gets a lot of credit as well. EDC is a work in progress. This may be a make or break year for him.
