Day 227 of "he'll be back soon"....
-
It's still over if the Ravens had any one of those QB's as back ups. I can't feel comfortable with any one of them.....well Shawn Hill looked good the other night. He's the only one out of that bunch that I'd consider over Schaub.
-
Now he played against the 2's and 3's but he dominated them.... THE YOUNG TIGHT ENDS!!!!!!!!!
-
I don't know but the Ravens are hiding something.

This is true for any of the past seasons if Joe goes down. It would be curtains. It's a very tight race to make thje playoffs. It takes everything the Ravens have with to make it each year. My reaction to when the Ravens signed Schaub..... When you lose your confidence as a QB you are done in this league. But he's a Raven now and homer fan that I am I want to give him a chance. He had some very good years in Kubiaks offense until the wheels fell off the cart. I was pleased with Schaubs performance Thursday night. He looked better than any past backup QB's for Joe. Especially in the 1st quarter playing against the Saints 1's on defense. Other than Campanaro, his receivers could not break open. He had a make shift line that struggled run blocking but the pass protection was serviceable. The interception was typical Schaub of the past 2 years. If they could get Renner to plant and throw so he can get some zip on his passes, I might be ok with him over Schaub. He showed grit on that final drive. He didn't quit, get desperate or fazed. But he must throw more bullets and strikes and be able to throw deep before I risk the run to the playoffs on him. Right now I go with the experienced vet who knows the system. That's Schaub, for good or ill.

This is my first chance to comment since the game Friday night. I've got to say it felt great to be there on a beautiful summer evening with my son. I almost left in the 3rd quarter because it was boring and sloppy, but the exciting ending was worth going to work on 3 hours sleep. Remember: this is the first pre season game so expectations shouldn't be too high. Limited playbook and lot's of units playing together for the first time. Certainly Joe and the starting O looked good. Tucker's Tucker. The defensive starters looked good, even minus Smith and Webb. Hey! Schaub looked damn good. Consider the supporting cast. Then he had his obligatory Schaub moment where he must throw into tight coverage with the defender knowing it's coming his way. But the receiver didn't run that route right or come back for the ball while Schaub was eye balling the CB to make sure that he knew that he was going to throw it. Pointer had more bright spots than low. He showed promise. Davis surprised me playing most of the game. He held up well and anchored the line. Rating? Stud in the making. Kapron-Lewis Moore??? Vaughn??? Greenwood??? Nobody in the secondary can shed blocks and tackle. Teams will exploit this and run around the edge all day long if Suggs and Upshaw don't hold containment. This is really not good. Only Pointer was around the ball. Trawick....his head is not in the game. Levine and Walker?....not much hope there. Jackson...hurt again. As mentioned, the LB's can't cover....especially the middle of the field. Where were the safeties? Z Smith showed some promise....can't give him stud-in-the-making marks yet. Simply put...the WR's couldn't gain separation or get open. If Perriman flops and Marlon Brown doesn't progress then this will be a dink and dunk offense facing 8-9 in the box. The Ravens have 3 good TE's. Happy Gilmore is set for a great season. Boyle is a steal. The man can get open and make the hard catch. So Boyle and Gilmore block well and both can catch. Williams dropped a sure TD but on that 4th and 20 play, we saw why on 77% of his college receptions, he either scored a TD or got a first down. I also saw him pushing his man up field on a running play The back up O line did decent in pass protection but they could not open any running lanes. What Taliaferro and Buck got, they got on their own. I was very pleased with both RB's. You can see Trestman wants the ball in their hands as receivers...same as a running play only the LB's have to play honest or get burned. Lot of negatives there but again it's the first preseason game and very early in the development of this team and their depth. Guys are thinking too much and slow to react because they are still learning the playbook, their roles and how to work with their teammates. The Ravens have a monster opening 4 game mountain to climb. They need to get it together fast. Faster than the Broncos....who they will crush!
-
Lot's to look for.... Can Schaub throw some TD's. How will Buck Allen and Taliaferro look? Do the Ravens have a secondary? Is the defensive front 7 physical and nasty?
-
Nice article by Joe Palatania... These 10 listed players are questionable but there are also at least 10 players who may come out of nowhere, develop and impress the staff this year. As we saw last year, the Ravens will be as good as how deep and talented their roster is. The next few weeks will be the time to identify the guys who "aren't Ravens". "Keep an eye on Means"

You have to admire his honesty...

Maybe scirrhous of the liver got'em????? HEY! How'd that get on here?! fnnny!!!!!!!!!!

This video has gone viral since yesterday....Canty was playing around with his camera, Suggs jumped in but Brandon took the spot light. https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=zmUsnuaMu78

It's ok. He can't play QB.
-
Can't wait to see Davis....
-
I used to buy purple kool aid like this from Billick all the time....only it's Harbaugh saying it... We'll see Thursday night...I'll be there.
-
He can't even make it onto the field. I am not happy with Schaub as the back up...but he's a Texan....maybe he has a Rooster Cogburn moment with the Ravens, and if he has to step up, then he comes out guns blazing.
-
cleetz is right. Pollard couldn't cover when he was here. I doubt that he can cover anyone now, All he can do now is play the run.

Start posting again! We need more cursing and swearing here.

The Bengals have a loaded roster....

A once great team is hitting the skids. Reminds me of the Colts in the 70's....

Ravens' Brent Urban tears biceps muscle, could be lost for year
vmax replied to tsylvester's topic in Baltimore Ravens
Crap! Was it a result of arm tackling....like Elam? I feel bad for Bret. Physically he has great size to be a disrupting force. There's a career for him but he knows it's slipping away. The Ravens are getting bit again by the injury bug in camp. They're losing potential starters and depth. Some of these guys will be back soon but players like Brown and Perriman need the reps. Flacco needs to get the timing down with them. -
He continues to insult everyone's intelligence....
