Ravens Fans who are working dads--please help-your feedback is needed!
vmax replied to thericeisright's topic in General Chat
It cut me off as soon as I checked not married. I'm a working Dad who has been raising 3 children on my own for over 13 years. You'd think they might want to know how the hell you do that. -
Carlos Dunlap out a month, Green-Ellis out a game for Bengals
vmax replied to papasmurfbell's topic in Cincinnati Bengals
So Dunlap is out for the opener. Wartons done. It's about even with the Ravens in the trenches on the injury front. -
I here she's a real low life Mo-Fo...gutter with a nasty temper. Whatever...I'm sure he'll be crying on camera saying "I'm sorry" and begging for another chance ...because... They'll both be heading for the hills now that the money's run out.
-
He was more interested in a tv career and being in front of cameras. Football was a back seat. Like Owens, he was just trying to get a paycheck. Looks like his playing days are over.

Pagano is "Lucky" as shit. The guy is the real deal. He has great arm strength and accuracy. His first pass was a screen pass that went 63 yards for a TD. He went 10 for 16...2 of the incompletions hit the receivers square on their hands...another he threw out of bounds under pressure. 188 yards, 11.8 ypc and 2 TD's which easily could have been 3. 142.7 QB rating. He led the Colts on 3 scoring drives in a quarter and a half. Peyton Who?

McKinnie and Harewood were men amoung boys as far as pass protection. The Falcon #2s couldn't even get them to break a sweat. Sergio Kindle...actually he did good. He played disciplined and intelligent. He was dropping into coverge a lot, didn't get fooled, so plays never came his way. He made sure his end was sealed. He has a good nose for the ball and was good in pursuit. He played hard to the whistle....when they blew them. He got a couple QB pressures but at times the RT stymied him. I just don't know about him as a pass rusher...we'll see. Osemele...solid game. Kemo...he's got to step it up. Out of position and not enough push. Tyson...he's a battler...Raven tough. Berry... it was a short look for him but he looked good protecting the QB. Had 1 nice north/south power run. On Painters first TD toss, he helped sell the defense to think it was a run to their left....they chased him, Painter rolled the other way and had a sweet throw to Bajema. Nice execution by the whole offense on that play.

You guys make me want to cry. Let's go for a new low this year!

All these updates are really appreciated. Especially now that we don't get the daily updates from fans at camp. The media thinks camp is boring so they sleepwalk thru it. They didn't even know who Omar Brown is until Thursday night...and they should. Guys like Wilson get it, but they are few and far between. I just wish Aaron didn't have such a low opinion of us on here. We're really not a bad lot...

Yea...don't bash on Roberts. He had a very serious injury...life changing...he could have sat back and just collected his money. Instead he's tried hard as hell to get back to playing and contributing. This season is a huge success for me. To be able to have this conversation on 8/11/12 is why. That I follow them everyday must be some kind of statement because I stopped about 12 years ago. They are vwinning back the fans. Right now I have a ton of faith and belief in Buck. That's growing for Dan too. I'm also very happy for the die hard Oriole fans who have stuck with this team. They have put up with a lot of shit. They really deserve a winner. Every game now has meaning. That is huge.

The big attraction used to be The Flying Pigs...don't know if that's still there.

Thanks bro....I was worried that Joe would be missing 3 of his key receivers for 2-3 weeks.

Five Ravens who impressed, five who struggled in preseason opener
vmax replied to papasmurfbell's topic in Baltimore Ravens
Koch looked good...which is an indictment against the starting offense. Painters TD pass to Thompson showed me a lot. Nice fake hand off and sweet throw. He was decisive. http://www.nfl.com/videos/baltimore-ravens/0ap2000000048258/Deonte-Thompson-23-yard-touchdown-catch I love Rainey. I'd like to have a big pounding, notrh/south #2RB but maybe that's too old school...a thing of the past. You just want to spell Rice right? So why not keep the pressure on the D with a back who can do it all? Now...he has to prove he can pick up the blitzers or he's no good. I think he can. http://www.nfl.com/videos/baltimore-ravens/0ap2000000048264/Bobby-Rainey-18-yard-touchdown-catch McPhee, Ngata and Cody looks like a great middle of the line. It's up to Krueger and Upshaw to replace Johnson and Suggs....that is a lot to ask so the blitz will be comming from everywhere this year. Don't know where Williams head was...maybe it got fat reading your posts papa.. Allen was a big disappointment...especially because he's not new. They have to keep Brown. Some guys have the knack or gift or special blessing from the universe to be playmakers. -
It's almost impossible to firgure out if a team is going to be good from the 1st preseason game. It's just like the Ravens game...all it proves is the team with the better depth won. It took an x-Raven to get the Bengals the win too...Peerman acounted for the scores. The Bengal defense looked solid. The Jets are not a good team. They don't stink, but they are the most over-hyped team in the NFL. a .500 club and probably no better this year. The Bengals only TD score in the first half was a blocked punt with 22 seconds. However...I love it when an AFC North team beats the Jets no matter when the game is played. On the Jet hype thing...Tebow is not an NFL caliber QB even as the #2 or #3 QB on the depth chart. He's awfull. I do think the Bengals will field a very solid, competetive team this season and that the franchise is moving in the right direction. Like the Ravens, this injury thing is becoming a concern....but there is still plenty of time for a lot of these players to be healthy for the season opener.

Update: What worries me is how bad is Tory Smiths ankle sprain? This is not good.

Manny Machado called up by Orioles at age 20
vmax replied to papasmurfbell's topic in Baltimore Orioles / MLB
August 11, 2012 Who would have dreamed that we'd hear these words for an Orioles player at this time of the year? -
Only in Cleveland....

Here you go yeager... “There are no real shortcuts to posting,” an ER member said. “Every post is new for me. I know I’ll eventually feel pain, and that’s when I know that I’m doing what I’m supposed to do. It’s not between me and my board members or me and some corporate dumby troll. It’s always about me against me." “Posting is my business, but it is also my lifestyle,It’s your mind first. It’s a three-part thing like the Learning Triangle: mind, body, spirit, because we are three-part beings. Before I type a post, I challenge my mind: ‘We have to get ready and accept what my fingers now going to do.’ My fingers are a possession. I can decide how good they can be. This is my temple. The Triangle. Right now, it’s also my business. How could I not take care of it and push it beyond what I did the last time. The point of progress is failure. Dumbies don't know this.” ER posters don't just challenge themselves posting; their goal is failure. “Every one of them – I plan to fail in posts. If someone puts me through a nice little chat and I know I can do it, pass it, it means nothing,” I don’t know what I’m going to reach at my computer. When I have the keypad under my fingers, I go and keep going until I can’t type one more dangling participle. And, then I go troll a Stealers board. And I do that until I fail. “I start to break apart, and I hear the voices...THEM!...the Leader of the Ant Men and Destroyer of Worlds and there is something inside saying: ‘I’m getting to the part when I can’t type one more insult.’ It challenges your mind and your body. There are ‘wow’ moments. You say, ‘I can’t think of one more deragortory statement.’ That’s the point I always want to reach. Some people don’t want to go there. I want to go there every time. With that failure to do one more comes the progress I want.”

The line will be better with Birk holding up the middle. He'll communicate well with Williams. Joe was getting pressured between the tackles from missed assignments. McKinnie just pushed those 2nd and 3rd stringers around like toys. With the no huiddle D's will get gassed which affects the pass rush. Then there's the audibles, shot gun, waggles, roll outs, hot reads...this is a dynamic and fluid offense this year. I don't think the line will be as big a weakness as we've been thinking.
-
He's incredible... Oh...after watching last night I saw another reason he dropped the weight. They are going hurry up and no huddle. More of the league will too. He's got to run and hunt and be in great cardio shape. He's friggn'n amazing.
-
Yea...all he wants to do is run. He tells 10 other guys what the play is...they practice their butts off executing it in practice and then Taylor goes and does his own thing. He does not execute the plays. You can not have an NFL QB who can not execute his position within the scheme of the offense. It's ...Snap...take a quick look...run! Painter does not have the arm like Smith but he knows how to run this offense....10 times better.

The O & D lines worry me. The D line moreso. There was no pressure on Matty. As for the O line I'm not worried as much. It was Williams first start with this unit. He'll do fine. Gradkowsky was out of his league. First start in the NFL and he has to call signals? He doesn't even know who to pick up so how can he tell anyone else? KO's first NFL start...that's 3/5ths of the line who are very raw in a brand new system. That said, I'm very excited about the Ravens offense. I said it last night: with Caldwell came the Indy offense under Manning and you saw their first attempt at it last night. Not 1 huddle untill they were taking knees at the end. There were WR formations, groupings and routes I have never seen Cam use. Joe's just getting used to this. You could see that Painter has it down....he just can't make the throws and plays unless he's playing against #3's. They are going to score a ton of points this year. This explains "the rust" or hesitation and missed assignments we saw last night. Jones, Boldin and Smith will be a load. Throw Dickson, Pita and Rice into that mix as targets and we are in for some excellent Ravens football this year.
