Im nervous as hell but we should win as the O and D are in sync but they always bring the A game vs us. If we win next 2 games we're on a SB run. Im calling it now.

So what I learned from watching the tape, and this is what's bad about watching in a bar because you don't see this stuff, is that when Mosley wasn't getting in the backfield he was often double or trippled teamed up the middle when Ngata or Brandon were out. McPhee was a hero and only had 1 very confused blocker. Doooooom had only 1 blocker on his sack. McClellen was a hero who recovered the fumble and only had 1 blocker as the interiors had a couple. Suggs was in the backfield adding pressure most of the 1st half forcing incompletions twice and he had at least 2 QB hits in the first half besides his heroics in the second half. The defense will be a force from here on out but this game in Cinci will be the test.

Atlanta has the ball with 1:15 left in the half. Ryan drops back to throw and Suggs hits him getting penetration once again. So despite his sack and safety Suggs is constantly getting in the backfield. he hits Ryan on shoulder as he's throwing and D. Smith knock ball down almost getting an interception but Suggs makes that play happen. And, on that play Ngata isn't in but they have 3 blockers once again on Mosley up the middle which allowed Suggs to come around beating his man. Suggs is extremely fast in this game. Looks like he's back. Atlanta punts and JJ fumbles the ball. UGH! On the next play Doooooom sacks Ryan beating his man. Only had 1 blocker. Brandon is double teamed. On next play Pees puts 7 guys on the line and rushes 6 putting pressure on Ryan who throws incomplete. Looked like Boller in Chicago that night like a deer in bright lights-lol. Ball was thrown straight into Jimmy's hands and he drops it. Atlanta misses FG as ball bounces off the left goal post -lol. Joe brings them back down to 20 as Tucker ends the half with a FG. Nice catch by Torrey on the 20 to set up the FG. End of half - Ravens 17-0.
-
LOL - In our next offensive series Joe throws the interception in the end zone but radio guys said Torrey has to make the play to stop him from catching it like Sr did on the other side even though he got the penalty he prevented the TD. Torrey just doesn't seem to think at times. On Atlanta's first play they get 3 yds on run by Jackson. On the next play Oher must have been playing because it's a false start on Falcons. I mean that same lineman who was looking around before looked scared shitless and moved straight back before the ball was snapped. Again, Brandon is double teamed up the middle but Suggs gets into the QB as the flags drop along with half the defense -lol. Next play is Jackson up the middle for 2 yds with everyone double teamed up the middle. Suggs penetrates on the next play putting pressure on Ryan who throws to the opposite side for no gain. Ryan completes next pass for 2 yd gain-lol. Falcons punt. JJ with nice return. Ravens do nothing but punt. They do nothing. Pierce scores TD on next series after Torrey goes out of bounds on 1. 14-0.

LOL - Right-on, man. Ok, I'm watching the tape now. 1st qtr with 5:50 left, Atlanta on our 20, Ryan throws to RB behind line of scrimmage and McPhee rushes in untouched. Blew right by his man. He only had 1 blocker who looked very confused, kept looking around totally confused so like T posted above it was a bad line but so be it. Ryan got rid of the ball before McPhee hits him and chases the guy all the way across the field and forces him out of bounds on the 18. Next play with 5:30 left, McPhee rushes by the same guy and hits Ryan who fumbles. Remember I said earlier that Mosley nailed Jackson for a loss on 3rd and 1. On Mcphee's strip and fumble, they had 3 blockers blocking MOsley up the middle. Ngata and Brandon weren't even in the game getting a rest so they focused on Mosley. That allowed McPhee to breeze thru untouched to strip the ball from Ryan but also, McClellan was in the backfield after pushing his man back. He picked up the fumble caused by McPhee. Jernigan our #2 draft pick was in on that play and pushed his man back as did Suggs on the opposite side who got penetration but in that case they had 3 blockers on Mosley who was the key on that play that allowed McPhee to go in untouched to cause the fumble and Mcclellen to pick it up after beating the shit out of his blocker.
-
Hope that clears things up. To recap: McPhee is doing great as a stud, so is Mosley and Doooom and Suggs have come back from slow starts for various reasons and Ngata and Brandon are making it happen by taking up most of the blockers. Also, the secondary has improved holding Julio to just 1 TD which came in gravey time near the end of game and vs a guy we just picked off the street - Dominique Frank. All that is just my humble opinion as right as it is.
-
And you keep missing the point why they aren't blocked. It's the giants taking up blockers just like Goose and Adams did on the SB 35 team. Again, Suggs was injured early and Doom was slowed down. He just got his quick first step back which is why he got his big sacks Sunday. You have an excuse for everything like the poor teams. Luck was sacked up the middle too and the guy was untouched. It keeps happening vs all the teams, good and bad and that doesn't happen very often to Luck but it did for the same reason as Suggs was open. Sunday will be a good test but the D kept Cinci to 23 points in Week 1 and it's much better now and as bad as the right side of the secondary was that you always bitched about before held Julio Jones to just 1 TD and that was over Dominque Frank whom we just took off the streets and in gravey time. That right side held the last two Os to 2 TDs and Ryan is a good QB with an arsenal of weapons.
-
Suggs didn't have anyone blocking him on his sack and safety on Sunday. He only gets one blocker because Ngata and Brandon are taking up all the rest. Look at the Jackson hit by Mosley. It was early in game with 3d and 1 and Atlanta can sustain a good drive with a first down. Jackson gets the hand off and Mosley runs around the entire o-line untouched to nail Jackson in the back field. Atlanta's zone blocking had everyone pushing our giants to the middle from right to left and from left to right. That left the right side completely open for Mosley who laid down some serious shit all game. It was the same with Suggs who went up the middle untouched. They can't block everyone. Suggs has 2.5 sacks in the last 2 games and the Ravens D has given up the fewest TDs in the league and scoring amongst the most themselves. I think Haney said on radio they are scoring the most
-
Suggs broke through the middle because he disguised the blitz by hiding behind Ngata who took up 2 blockers. They didn't even see him. Then Suggs cuts to the center and blasts thru untouched. Ryan said he never saw him coming because he disguised the blitz. That's how. Ryan said they did a great job disgusing all their blitzes. Suggs was injured earlier with a back prob and a thigh prob that he played thru but he has 2.5 sacks in the last 2 games so he has impacted. MOsley is getting free because Suggs is getting blocked so much so that gives him room to roam but HARBs said that Suggs is still playing at a high level.

True about Jones but he's starting to phase out I think. He wanted to draft Manzeal but his son wanted Zack Martin so he gave in as he's starting to turn things over, slowly but surely. Plus he has legal probs, cirminal ones that could land him in jail. At the hearing his only argument was it was past time to file any charges vs the chick. It's the first time in a long time Dallas ever stuck to their board. Martin could be the first o-lineman ever to win OPOY. He was the guy I wanted but I'm glad we have Mosley now. BTW, Roland wouldn't have figured in the draft. He was just like there. If he worked out fine but if he didn't that was fine. It's not like Ozzie really expected to depend on Rolando .Mosley was the highest rated player on Ozzie's board and would have taken him no matter who was or wasn't on the team as he was the BAA. Now it's turning out he was the best player in the entire draft. DeCosta said they would have drafted him even if they had the 10th pick and Martin and Lewan were still on the board. He was the guy Ravens coveted and Arthur Brown isn't doing so well. There's even rumors of trading him so we needed linebackers anyway as D. Smith is old and Mosley was the best on the board. Good linebackers are like good pitchers. You can never have enough of them. Ozzie got Ray and Suggs at the same time plus guys like Bart Scott and JJ and Upshaw along with them at the same time. After Ray retired he got Dooom with Suggs while adding D. Smith and Mosley after Kruger and Ellerbe left.
-
Ditto, it is a smart pick. Roland was still a head case at the time and Dallas was desperate after losing Lee for the year. As posted above, he would have never cracked this lineup with Mosley, D. Smith and others ahead of him. The condition of the 6th pick was that he had to make the team for it to be a 7th pick and if he plays 50% of the time it's a 6th pick. Looks like it's gonna be a 6th pick. I'm happy for him but you never know when there will be a relapse, same with Will Hill. Back to the 6th pick, Ozzie has done pretty well there drafting Adelius Thomas, Chester Taylor, RB and our current punter Sam Koch and long snapper Joe Maiese who is now a fire fighter for Howard County. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Baltimore_Ravens_draft_history

Man, some of the shit he laid down today. Kiper has him as 6th best LB in NFL. If that keeps up he gets DPOY and makes the pro bowl as rookie. Has that ever happened? Mosley's 55 tackles lead all rookies and rank No. 6 in the NFL. He is the only defender in the league to post at least 50 tackles, an interception, a fumble recovery and a forced fumble. http://m.espn.go.com/general/blogs/blogpost?blogname=baltimore-ravens&id=14501&src=desktop&rand=ref~%7B%22ref%22%3A%22https%3A%2F%2Fwww.google.com%2F%22%7D&wjb

That was Ryan yelling ouch when the oldie hit him for a sack and safety.
-
Suggs has been injured and is just coming around. It helps to have two giants taking getting double teamed. It allow him to move around a lot like today plus the other LBs like D Smith and Mosley.

Sorry for the typo in title. I can't edit it. After 7 games it has done very well. In four of their seven games, the Ravens (5-2) have allowed 17 points or fewer. No team has scored more than 23 points against the Ravens, and the Bengals did that in Week 1. The Ravens have yielded just 10 touchdowns all season. In their last two games, the Ravens have a total of 10 sacks. The Ravens have three linebackers who are terrorizing quarterbacks Terrell Suggs, Elvis Dumervil, and Pernell McPhee plus an inside linebacker, C. J. Mosley, who might be the Defensive Rookie of the Yea and HARBs even sees confidence in the secondary and getting Will Hill is a big plus and Webb is getting better. The pressure came from the front 7 today and Matt Ryan was impressed. He was blitzed often and sacked 4 times including a safety. On that play Brandon Williams was double teamed on the right side and Ngata was double teamed on the left. Suggs blitzed but kind of hid behind the massive Ngata, then cut to his left and went right up the middle untouched for the sack and safety. Ryan never saw him coming or knew what hit him. D did a great job disguising that play with Suggs hiding and then coming up the middle. The play before that Dooooom just missed a sack and safety as Ryan got rid of the ball while going down. http://www.csnbaltimore.com/blog/ravens-talk/defeating-falcons-ranking-ravens-defense

I'd rather keep the team intact as is than bring Cody back and drop anyone off, especially Campy.
-
Hurst only has two games left, I think it is, before Monroe comes back so if he holds up, he done good with only 1 bad game. TB had a legit good rusher going vs him. The article is correct that we are now deep and there's no fear if one of the top guys goes down. Also Jah Reid had a monster block pan caking a guy Sunday and there's Ryan Jensen on the practice squad if he can over come sleep apnea.
-
Exactly. It took time to mesh and is still coming together like we said during camp. Wait til the guys have been together for a year or more like Unitas with Berry, Orr and Lenny. Ravens started a new offense in week 1 that was never used before with new players like SR and Daniels in the mix, so they were cold vs Cinci and Indy while beating the lesser teams but it's coming together. The big test will be in Cinci.
-
Ditto. Torrey said he was pressing before. It's a new offense and Joe went with SR early on because he caught on quicker and the chemistry was there along Pitta before he got hurt. Kubes is starting to throw more weapons into the system as we saw Sun with Torrey, SR, even JJ plus the new rookies Campy and Aiken. How bout them dudes? Aikens reminds you of Boldin going up for the ball, the one thing Torrey doesn't do. Oz finally discovered some real gems at WR. This team will be a force down the PO run on both sides of the ball. Will Hill can only help the D.
-
Hurst rebounded from Indy with a great game vs a good rusher. Still needs improvement in run blocking. Urschel stepped up too. Two rookies, one undrafted holding down the left side of the line. http://russellstreetreport.com/filmstudy-o-line-deep-and-talented/

UM, fast with the quick twitch to fire? Pot meet kettle with your your "Trap statement." I skipped most of your long winded reply because I wanted to know the specifics on Hill and if he could contribute or will he get into trouble again. You gave a long winded expose on the defense overall which all of us know already from your other long winded posts and ignoring that the D held up vs 2 good teams when the O failed to show up but you keep forgetting that. I wanted specifics on Hill, not your pessimistic views on the defense which is why I skipped most of it while looking for Hill's name. Like Craven, I like our chances for the PO run and Ozzie was thinking the same by signing Hill whom he thought would help down that road, especially with more injuries to come. So if you have anything to specifically say about Hill, please indulge. I'd like to see it not more long winded stuff about the right side of the secondary.
-
Man, the subject is Will Hill and you didn't say anything about him, only how bad you hate the defense. I mention one phrase and you blow your wad. Yea, it was vs TB, but the offense lost the 2 games for us. Joe didn't score 30 pts vs Cinci and Indy. Twenty one would have won the Indy game.
-
Trap statement? What's that? That unit did ok yesterday and hung with Indy. Again, a million times over, it was the offense that didn't show up vs Indy or Cinci. We should have won both of those games. We still had a chance to tie it on the last play of the game in Indy w/o the offense showing up and had the lead with 5 mins vs Indy and lost it but Joe gets sacked twice going for the win at the end on an over-balanced line. Ravens lost 2 games to 2 good playoff teams, that's all and a division rival at best. They couldn't beat Carolina yesterday but beat us. They took off. Indy let up in 2d half vs Houston which came back but turned the pressure back on at the end of game causing fumbles on their last 2 drives but vs Ravens they went 100% of the time. Luck was terrible vs that dangerous unit scoring only 20 pts and last TD was a gift from Flacco after an interception.
-
His 6 game suspension is over - till the next one, cough, cough. Anyway, does anyone think he starts next week? Doesnt anyone want him to start next week? It's pretty bad when Franks is taken off the street and goes more than Chykie Brown. Doesn't say much for Brown. Back to Hill, if he pans out, and he is one of the better safeties, this will be an even more dangerous unit. And how about that Rolando? He intercepted a Wilson pass to end the game as Boyz beat the champs. Ravens get a 6th round pick out of Roland. It was a 7th rounder if Roland makes the team and doesn't play but a 6th rounder if he plays 50% of the time and he's played most if not all of the time. Ozzie has done well in the 6th round drafting Adilius Thomas, Sam Koch and RB Chester Taylor. He got today's hero - Campanero in the 7th round.

Now you know why they're the Bucs with all those losses. There's a reason.
