T - And don't forget about the special teams that put the D on the field twice after stops. The D was the only unit to show up even at the end after being on the field so long, Elam stripped the ball that gave the offense one last chance for the tie and it missed. The Ravens offense was also 1 of 11 on 3rd down last week, not to mention the missed 4th down. I also recall the defense giving them the ball on the Indy 12 and they ended up with a FG. Special teams made the D go back on the field twice after stops too. Elam came up big with the ball giving the offense one last chance to redeem itself but it couldn't. Joe got the look he wanted on the last play of the game with the CB playing Torrey up tight. Torrey beat him but Qadry Ismail told Sandusky Sun night on TV that the receiver has to jump when the ball is at his highest peak. That is what Boldin did so well, going up and fighting for the ball. Torrey didn't do it. He waited for the ball to come down to him. The CB was the guy who jumped up and blocked Torrey's vision and he lost track of the ball and the game. There is something drastically wrong with Torrey. Maybe he's pissed because his best friend Rice is gone but he dogged it on Joen's INT too. I'm not sure if the Ravens want to sign him. Jimmy will be a bigger priority for sure. And that's another point about the D. Teams keep going away from Jimmy picking on AsA who has improved but got hurt and will be out for a while. If Joe shows up, Ravens win this game. The D was the only unit that showed up and Justin Tucker who kicked a 50 yder at halftime. The Ravens D made the plays and are still tops in the red zone.

And this: Facing the NFL’s top-ranked offense and top-passing quarterback thus far, and on the field for way too long, Baltimore’s defenders came up with plays time and time again. They limited Luck to 312 yards as he completed 32 of 49 passes, and picked him off twice. Even with the game seemingly sealed with the Colts inside the Ravens’ 10-yard line with less than two minutes left, safety Matt Elam came up with a strip (recovered by safety Terrence Brooks) to give the Ravens offense one last chance. “When I got my hand in, I felt like I had a grip on it to pull it out,” Elam said. “It was just a great hustle play, not giving up on the play and just trying to give my team a chance to win.” ________________________________________ Yea, the defense was on the field too long and have to do better on 3 downs but the offense couldn't stay on the field and Steve Smith SR, our only real WR threat forgot to show up but it didn't matter with Joe running for his life. You obviously missed that. I don't know what you were watching.

Anytime the D holds Luck to 20 pts they should win and intercept him twice and sack him you should win. The offense was so bad they couldn't stay on the field. JOe was sacked 3 times. There was no running game. The line got killed. Receivers couldn't get open. That game was clearly on the offense. You must have missed our #1 draft pick with 15 tackles, 1 PD and an INT who played like a beast. You must have missed McPhee who played well, Ngata had an INT and Mosley is being called the DPOY year already. They stopped Luck who was scoring 40 pts pr game, held them to half of that and his last TD was a gift from the offense, not them. They did enough to win. The were on the field so long because the O couldn't stay on the field at all.
-
So much for smoke, mirrors and track shoes. Defense held Luck to 20 pts and that last TD was a gift from Joe via INT putting ball on 30 yd line. D did OK in red zone again. D sacked Luck up the middle but didn't blitz the A gap often enough. It was the offense that didn't show up and lost the game and coaches that put an undrafted rookie LT on an island by himself. Defense did the job. Ask Luck how he feels getting hit a lot and going down once.
-
Yea, but Elam's strong point is coming up on rushing plays and hitting them in the box. It's his coverage that does him in. Jimmy is a great blitzer and loves coming up to the line. They sacked Luck once up the middle but there should have been more sacks.
-
Thanks Smurf, got it but like link says at the top, it was a puzling move. Not so puzzling. PAGs read my post. He thought they'd be blitzing Ship all day but they probably wouldn't have anyway. Pees wouldn't know what that is. They did blitz up the middle even with the new guy and Luck was sacked up the middle but they didn't keep it up. The rook did OK like Craven said he didn't stunt or wasn't aggressive enough. Rex and Marvin would have blitzed like crazy. We saw Marvin do that vs us in week 1 over loading the line and guy came in un-touched to sack Flacco twice. Ravens aren't that innovative. That's why so many fans hate pees. HARBs said after SB 47 he called up to Pees and told him to blitz on every down on the goal line stand at the end of the game. He remembered losing to the Eagles when they came back from behind and won it on the last play of the game. He didn't want to lose the SB that way so he rode Pees back. For some reason he didnt in Indy. As you know, I called for them to blitz the A gap all day with Ship and they should have done it even more vs an undrafted rook but didn't. That's why we lost or one key reason but PAGs read my posts and got Ship the hell out of there.

That double coverage is why we did so well vs Piss and Cleve. Even though Torrey is in a slump and sleep walking in games, he still requires double coverage. They can't let him alone, same with JJ. That leaves the middle open. Didn't work yesterday because they blitzed Joe like crazy on the edges and up the middle and of course thru Hurst but Ravens left him alone on the island all day. He was just an undrafted rookie starting his second game.
-
No he wasn't. HARBs was their secret weapons being totally out-coached and failed to have his team up for the game. You forgot KO who gave up a sack and Wagner who had his first bad day and gave up 1/2 a sack. Joe got hit from the edges and up the middle. What the hell did you expect? Hurst was an undrafted rookie who had the entire unbalanced d-line shifted towards him and he was blitzed most of the game with no help and he had a sore knee KO who also gave up a sack that couldn't cover for him. They could have at least put Gilmore over there to help him. Nah, HARBs was their secret weapon. He was thoroughly out coached and didn't have the team up for the game. PAGs gave a coaching clinic for him by shifting an unbalance line in front of Hurst and HARBs didn't know what to do.
-
Um, the link didn't come in. What did it show?

Exactly. PAGs overloaded Hurst's side of the lined and blitzed him like crazy. Panthers didn't figure that out and is why PAGs is such a good coach. Offense showed up flat. That's bad coaching. Torrey has to be benched. He is just sleep walking like on the INT. He's just plain lazy. Their front line hasn't played like that all year, yet Pees did some great coaching keeping Luck to 20 pts and we still had a chance for a tie late in the game.
-
They saw him get run over by the Eagles up the middle forcing Luck out of the pocket so he didn't do OK. Same thing happened in Denver up the middle and they sacked Luck once. Some other dude was in there. Ravens still sacked Luck once up the middle same as Denver. They didn't keep it up in the middle like PAGs blitzed the hell out of Hurst's side of the line - our weak link. PAGs figured that out and to pull Shipley out.

Vegas odds are 3 1/2 for Indy which means........
TBird replied to TBird's topic in Baltimore Ravens
They're using the same system. Just today the 5 top college teams including Oregon, Oklahoma and Alabama lost after being favored by Vegas. Vegas made a fortune with all those suckers betting on the favored team. -

The point is, they're still making millions using the same system getting people to bet on an obvious favorite while cleaning up when the other team wins or keeps it close to not to beat the point spread which is why I never bet on anything where there are odds makers. It's called odd for a reason. -

Vegas made a boat load of money making Colts 17 pt favs in SB 3. As Namath said after game, people could have paid off their homes betting on the Jets. I'm sure some lost their homes taking the point spread. -
The Ravens and Bengals are the only teams in the NFL that rank in the top 7 in both points scored and points allowed.
-
Guard Donald Thomas is out for the season with a torn quad and center Khaled Holmes is out several weeks with a sprained ankle. With Shipley starting at Center the Ravens will be blitzing the A gap all game. Eagles blitzed the hell out of Luck up the middle forcing him to scramble. That was the key. Luck still got some passes off but he was running for his life. Ravens better blitz the hell over Shipley.
-
They think Ravens are gonna win. That's the way it works. Everyone in the country outside of Baltimore will bet on Luck putting up another 40 pts w/o realizing that Ravens have the #1 defense in the red zone. Their over D is #13 overall but #6 vs the rush but Indy passes a lot. Their D is #25 over all but #31, at the bottom, vs the rush. Vegas thinks it's gonna be a close game and they're getting big money on Indy and then take everyone to cleaners when the Ravens win with their defense and their offense keeping Luck off the field by pounding the rock. http://www.footballoutsiders.com/stats/teamdef

Shipley, the guy who was featured in that phony KVV story that even he admitted was a mistake. Shipley was playing for the Colts in Denver not with Rice. Anyway, he's starting in Indy and that would be a more worthy story for KVV and ESPN because he's our secret weapon. He got Joe killed last year along with Gino the Giant and was cut then picked up by Indy after they traded him to us to begin with. Anyway, if he's starting Ravens defense will blitz up the middle like crazy. He can't block Brandon Williams who usually gets double teamed. He'll get tripple teamed in Indy. Next to him they still have to double team Ngata so that uses up all their blockers on two guys which will free up everyone else like Canty, Mosley, Suggs and Dooooom to put pressure on Luck who will be running for his life - if he gets on the field with Ravens offense pounding the rock all day. Ravens put great pressure on Cam Newton when Brandon was just double teamed. So it won't matter who is in our secondary with Shipley playing for them and needing so much help. Then on the offensive side, you will see Joe do his thing and score 25-30 points while Luck is either sitting on the beach as Ravens offense eats up the clock running the ball on their d which is #31 in stopping the run or he is running for his life.
-
That's when Rex was here and he blitzed most of the time.
-
If you want to mock scary, how about Shipley. He's the starting Center for Indy. The pass rush should have no problem pushing him back like teams did to him last year and his pal Gino
-
Or the 2012 playoff o-line vs Ravens 2013 o-line. BTW, Shipley is the starting Center for Indy.
-
Did you even read this: The unit ranks second in the NFL in points allowed (15) per game, and is the top red-zone defense in the league. Offenses are coming away with touchdowns on just 27.3 percent of their trips inside the red zone against Baltimore.
-
According to OUTSIDERS rankings, Ravens have the better o-line ranked # 6 in run blocking and #2 in pass blocking giving up only 3 sacks this year. Indy's line is ranked 15th in run blocking and #5 in passing blocking giving up 5 sacks this year. Advantage is Ravens. The front 7 should be able to put pressure on Luck but will have an easier time vs the run. Meanwhile, Joe should still stay protected and the running game should flourish. Ravens should get 150-160 yards on the ground. That will eat up the clock and keep Luck off the field while setting Joe up to do his thing. http://www.footballoutsiders.com/stats/ol

He should know. He used to coach it and left his prints all over it so for those still worried about the secondary, get this: The unit ranks second in the NFL in points allowed (15) per game, and is the top red-zone defense in the league. Offenses are coming away with touchdowns on just 27.3 percent of their trips inside the red zone against Baltimore. http://www.baltimoreravens.com/news/article-1/Chuck-Pagano-Ravens-Defense-Like-A-Scary-Movie/0eb13da6-a955-4f7f-af32-ac173c363608
