Man, you just need to relax and enjoy the games and give credit where credit is due. Torrey has had a good career and got off to a slow start this year under a new system and coach which we pointed out was using the short pass routes more than the deep ones. They finally went deep not only to Torrey but to JJ also and that opened up the stuff under neath for Forsett and the running game and pass catching by Taliferro. Torrey made a lot of that happen going deep as he has done all season.
-
I'd say 2 TDs in 1 game is a string plus he has 1 other TD from a game a couple of weeks ago.
-
No it isn't. This is how bad Squeelers are getting clobber by Cleveland. They almost beat them the first game and killed them today. Man, I really got into it with a Squeelers fans at the bar. LOL
-
Manning especially chokes in the POs like vs us but come on Smurf, give Torrey a break. He done good. He's had good stats in the past and this is a new offense where most of the passes are short but did you notice in 2d half they covered all our receivers deep but left the underneath wide open. Torrey beats you that way too as they covered him deep so give him some slack. Geesh.

Ditto on Clowney. The name told me that he'd be a bust-lol. That was a joke but a lot of guys were questioning before the draft. I didn't see any local mocks with Ravens drafting Mosley. It was mostly Martin or Cha Cha or Jimmy YOung after trading down and Oz did say he tried to trade down for someone but could swing a deal. Back to Mosley. I was just looking at the tape and with 5:40 left in 2d qtr and Brandon Williams and Ngata doubled teamed, the lane opened for Mosley to blitz left of center. A RB picked him up but Mosley pushed him straight back, then stopped and cut to his right and hit the QB while he was throwing causing the ball to fall incomplete just past the los. There was nobody open anyway but Mosley is definitely the front runner for DPOY. On the next play with 5:37 left Suggs came around from the left and hit the QB as he was throwing causing the ball to go out of bounds. Great pressure from two great defenders. See what happens with the offense shows up at the same time as the defense?

1. REBOUNDING from Indy 2. FLACCO - never know when he gets hot. 3. O-LINE - much depth with Hurst and Urschel starting over Gradkowski 4. PASS RUSH - pressure and sacks came today 5. FORSETT - lose Rice and gain Forsett with 111 yds rushing. They should have run him last week too. http://www.baltimoreravens.com/news/article-1/The-Breakdown-Five-Thoughts-vs-Buccaneers/983fc24e-0ebf-47c5-bada-f93385f97eea

With 2 TDs. We were down on him last week dropping the last pass of the game when he should have gone up to fight for the ball. He said he's been pressing and trying so today he had two big TDs. An ESPN article said Ravens weren't using him as much because he was a deep threat and Ravens have been throwing short, 10 yrds or less, 70% of the time. There were only a couple of routes for Torrey but Joe said it will come and it did. Torrey still contributed by requiring the best DBs to cover him deep which opened the middle for the TEs and slot receiver - SR who made big plays cutting across the middle. They can't let up on Torrey for a min like they did today or he will burn them.
-
Mosley had another good game today. He has the big boys in front of him to let him roam and do his thing. Brandon Williams pushed his man back all day, even while being double covered. D. Smith played well too. Plenty of pressure from the D.

Turn on the Indy game now - Ravens must be feeling good
TBird replied to TBird's topic in Baltimore Ravens
That's what weve been saying all week. The o didn't show up in Indy but the D did and made enough plays to win but the O is in disarray. Houston came back because Indy let up which they didnt do vs Ravens. Nobody can beat the Ravens by letting up. We lost to Cinci and Indy cause of the O and they never let up for a min vs us and we still could have won on paper. -
WOW - I didn't think of that about the timing and those other issues you mention but Joe should have his timing down pat after several years with him. Torrey did have 1100 yds during the SB season so he can catch but doesn't go up and fight for the ball and control his body as you said. That's for sure. All that said, he's still contributing just by being on the field. He still requires their best DBs because if they leave him alone for a second he can still burn them deep. He goes deep in one direction and JJ in the opposite direction leaving the middle open for the TEs to roam. That's how we won the games we have. Didn't work in Indy because Joe forgot to show up and still had a chance to tie it at the end if not for Torrey's mis-playing the ball. UGH! Great information from you. I learned a lot but Joe should have his timing down with Torrey by now. Unitas used to stay til dark with his receivers - Ray Berry, Jimmy Orr and Lenny Moore. They even practiced in the dark because Unitas knew where they would be on the field and threw to the spot. In a game the QB is often blinded with those huge linemen jumping up in his face. I guess they don't stay late anymore.

Great, great post and yea, WR has been Ozzie's only weak spot ala Clarence Moore and DEM Wills-lol. There were links over the summer that SR was coaching Torrey and Marlon who was like his shadow. He made some plays in one game this year but that's all. Some have suggested that Torrey is pissed because they cut Rice who was his best friend. He was the only Raven at Rice's press conf after the trial when the entire front office was out of town but some think he is pissed about losing his best friend so he's just sleep walking. Also, he doesn't understand Kubes system. There's only about 4 routes he knows, I think?

Lay off the pot. Ray had the talent and the instincts but he always gave credit to Marvin for taking him to the next level just like this defensive coach is taking Mosley to the next level. Ray was still learning when he was in SB 35 and became even greater after that. Marvin taught Ray how to read the plays that were coming. Thats what Mosley is learning now. Mosley has the same sideline to side speed as Ray. Ray was better dropping into coverage but Mosley is picking that up.

Bethard does. Casserly recommended the players to him just like DeCosta does to Ozzie. DeCosta even said that Taliferro was his pick having scouting him and then pimping him to Ozzie but Casserly as GM drafted Brian Mitchel, BJ, Wycheck and Champ Bailey plus Owen Daniels and others in Houston and established that franchise. He also discovered Joe Jacoby of the HOGs. But you won't recognize that.
-
He still got a ring on his own and brought in all those all pros and other greats. You guys dont like Champ Bailey? Billick tried to bring Brad Johnson here. We would have won another SB with him and wouldn't have had those set backs with Boller. Casserly drafted BJ. I'm just saying he was a good GM and said Mosley was the steal of the draft.

Turn on the Indy game now - Ravens must be feeling good
TBird replied to TBird's topic in Baltimore Ravens
OK, OK - before you say anything, yea, HOuston came back but only after Indy was beating them by like 27 pts. It got close to 33-28 after Indy took off in the 2d half like Ravens did in 3rd qtr in SB 47 and SF came back. Indy didn't let up with us for a minute but in the end with Houston driving they got their pressure back and forced two fumbles on HOuston's last two drives taking over on the 20 to end the game with Luck taking the knee. Indy is still a better team than most of us thought going in and in the first half they had relentless pressure and sacks like vs us. Raves d played good and stayed close despite no offense. Houston had more offense tonight and JJ Watts should be player of the year. -
Indy's D has picked up where it left off with us only much better vs Houston putting much pressure on QB and getting a sack already and leading 17-0 in first 15 mins. This is a good defense and shows how good Indy was which most of us didn't see going into the game. Our D looks even better now. Just watch Houston's secondary if you think ours are bad and we had Trawick and Miles playing at the same time. We still had a chance to tie it at the end as the D kept us in the game. Tonights game reinforces what we said about our D. On a side note, John Simon has a sack starting for Houston after they picked him from the practice squad. Ravens should be feeling much better about their game, at least the D guys should.
-
Ah, shit.
-
Well, I'm with you on the offense. It's been a sticking point on all the boards and radio. Do you think Torrey will be back. It's down to him and Jimmy and he's the one we gotta keep - right?
-
Pollard suffered an achilles tendon trying to block a decisive extra point and will be out the rest of the year. He was the team's leading tackler this year after having a great first year in 2013. Anyway, we get a break when we play them because he usually busts up somone. Just ask Gronkowski. For us it might have been Owens or Forsett. And Ozzie said cutting them was all about production. Sure Oz. He was doing great in Tenn til this and we sure could have used him last year and especially now. Hell, we had Trawick and Miles in the game at the same time Sunday. http://www.tennessean.com/story/titansinsider/2014/10/06/bernard-pollard-achilles-titans-ken-whisenhunt/16825497/

You're right. He was an assistant first for two of their SBs but the talent sure didn't fall off when he became GM in 89. He brought in Brian Mitchell, McCardle and Brad Johnson and Wycheck to name four plus Champ Bailey years later. There's some all pros in there. In 87 during the strike he is credited with fielding the replacement team that was 3-0 when the strike ended. The movie REPLACEMENTS with Gene Hackman was made from that success. As a scout he discovered Joe Jacoby and others that became the HOGs. He was the first GM in Houston drafted 5 pro bowlers including our Owen Daniels and signed our Jamie Sharper of the Ravens. He also had his busts like Heath Schuler just like Ozzie did with Kyle Boller but some of his all pros are still playing. FROM WIKI. Elevated to General Manager in 1989, Casserly sustained the Redskins' history of uncovering high-quality players in the later rounds of the draft.[citation needed] He used a fifth-round draft pick in 1990 to select Southwest Louisiana quarterback Brian Mitchell. Washington then converted Mitchell into a running back/kick returner, where he later joinedJim Brown as the only players in NFL history to lead the league in combined net yards four times. In 1996, Casserly plucked Auburn Universityrunning back Stephen Davis in the fourth round. Davis paced the NFC in rushing in 1999 with 1,450 yards. Casserly also drafted future Pro Bowlers in wide receiver Keenan McCardell (12th round, 1991) and tight end Frank Wycheck (sixth round, 1993). During the 1999 off-season, Casserly acquired veteran quarterback Brad Johnson who responded with a Pro Bowl season. In 1999, Sports Illustrated, Pro Football Weekly, The Sporting News and USA Today named Casserly their NFL Executive of the Year at mid-season. On draft day in 1999, Casserly acquired all of the New Orleans Saints1999 selections, plus their first and third-round picks in 2000 by swapping the Redskins' fifth selection in the first round for the Saints' 12th choice. He still managed to obtain the player that Washington wanted, selecting future Pro Bowl cornerback Champ Bailey. Not all of Casserly's picks were good ones. A number of his selections were poor, with the most notable example being Heath Shuler, who was selected with the third overall pick in the 1994 NFL draft. Shuler had a fruitless NFL career. In 2008, ESPN rated Shuler the 4th biggest NFL Draft bust of all time.[3] Casserly's Redskins career ended after the 1999 season when he was fired by team owner Dan Snyder.[4] Houston Texans[edit] After leaving the Redskins, Casserly took on the General Manager role for the expansion Houston Texans. With the franchise's first four selections in the 2002 NFL Draft, Casserly drafted David Carr, Jabar Gaffney,Chester Pitts, and Fred Weary. During Casserly's remaining drafts for the Texans, (2003 through 2006), the Texans drafted five eventual Pro-Bowlers: Andre Johnson (WR, 2003), Jerome Mathis (KR, 2005), DeMeco Ryans (LB, 2006), Mario Williams (DE, 2006) and Owen Daniels (TE 2006). Ryans was also named the NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year in 2006. Mario Williams, who many criticized for being the #1 overall pick in 2006 (behind college standouts Reggie Bush and Vince Young), made the Pro Bowl in the 2008 season. During Casserly's tenure as GM, the Texans went 4–12 in their inaugural season of 2002, then improved to 5–11 in 2003 and 7–9 in 2004 before slumping to a disappointing 2–14 record in 2005. During the 2005 season, while the Texans were 1–12, team owner Bob McNair hired former NFL coach Dan Reeves to serve as a consultant to help McNair evaluate his team.[5] After the end of the season, head coach Dom Capers was fired by McNair. Casserly was criticized for a number of personnel moves, including trading second and third round picks to the Oakland Raiders forPhillip Buchanon in 2005. Buchanon was a poor player for the Texans in 2005, and was released by the team after the first four games of the 2006 season. In a public interview, McNair criticized the trade for Buchanon, saying that the front office had not done its homework. Subsequent to the Texans' 2006 NFL Draft and after the Texans' 2-14 season, Casserly left the organization on June 1, 2006. Casserly sought a job in the National Football League front office, but was passed over for the job.[6] He was succeeded as General Manager by Rick Smith. Casserly's work with the Texans has been subject to much criticism.[7] Broadcast career[edit] In addition, Casserly has had extensive experience in radio and television for 16 years. While in Washington, he was a part of local television shows on WUSA (CBS), WJLA (ABC), WTTG (Fox) and HTS (Home Team Sports), as well as radio shows on WTOP and WJFK. In Houston, Casserly did four years of television on KTRK (ABC) and six years of radio on KILT. In the Fall of 1999, he reported three times per week on ESPN Radio and was a contributor on ESPN's show, Edge NFL Match-Up. In 2008, he was the color commentator for the Philadelphia Eagles preseason games on Eagles Television Network. Formerly, he served as an NFL insider as part of The NFL Today on CBS. Controversy with Bill Belichick[edit] At the end of the 2009 NFL season, Casserly stated that New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady was playing through three broken ribs. His analysis, however, was refuted by Patriots coach Bill Belichick, who stated, "Who's been wrong more than Charley Casserly since he left the Redskins? Wherever he's been, whatever he's done, his percentage is like a meteorologist...He has no relationship with this team, I'd say less than zero. He's never here, I don't know if he's ever been to a game. He's never been to a practice...at least he put his name on it and I'll put my name on it and say, like he usually is, he's 100-percent wrong." Casserly caused further controversy when he reported on CBS' NFL pregame show (October 10, 2010) that a confrontation between Tom Brady and Randy Moss occurred following New England's 38-30 victory over the Buffalo Bills, that the two had to be separated, and that this was the impetus for the trade of Moss to the Minnesota Vikings. Belichick's criticism of Casserly stemmed from a December 2006 incident where the Miami Dolphins suggested they'd received game tape that included audio of Brady. Casserly said the Patriots had been warned about their videotaping practices - "(they had a staff member) dressed in coaching attire with a video camera who was presumably videotaping the other team's signals. You can't do that. They were warned." Belichick responded that he'd been told nothing from the league about it and sarcastically asked, "Why don't you go talk to Charley Casserly? He seems to have all the answers on everything."[8] Other work[edit] Casserly is also employed by George Mason University as an executive-in-residence and instructor of sport management.[9] He also teaches classes at nearby Georgetown University. Personal life[edit] Casserly and his wife of 28 years, Beverley, have a daughter, Shannon, who graduated from American University in 2006. They currently live in Washington D.C.

May be - that's when you keep running and they stopped.
-
Exactly which is what I called all last week - pound the rock. We could have had 150-160 yds but Kubes abandoned the run as you said when he used to run to the right all the time and then kill them with the play action. I saw that only once this year. I just don't get it.
-
He was called the best defensive player in the draft at that point. Casserly who gave Joe Gibbs all those SB teams said he was the steal of the draft. He's leading all d-guys in the league with tackles as the link, said and goes from side line to side line faster than anyone since Ray and thus Smurf's comment above. He also has 5 passes defensed. There's always gonna be something you don't like.
-
Yea, but they still should have kept up the pressure up the middle on a rookie Center. BTW, did you and T even know we had Miles and Trawick in the game at the same time? Ravens rotated 9 DBs in the game and still held Luck to 20 pts with their last TD a gift from Flacco. The D was the only unit that showed up. We're in deep poop and Tampa is not a given on Sunday.

NFlers around the league are noticing our #1 pick Mosley as he turns heads. He clearly is the leader at this point for Defensive Rookie of the Year. I didn't even like the pick on draft day being a Bama guy and all but man was I wrong. Zack Martin was my guy but Dallas drafted him. I heard that Jimmy Jones wanted Manzeal or someone and his son talked him into Zack Martin who is a candidate for Offensive Rookie of Year althought Sammy Watkins is in front. Back to Mosley, what a great day in a tough loss with 14 tackles. an INT, a sack, a QB hit. He can fly from side line to side like just like someone we knew for years. Comparisons are being made already. http://russellstreetreport.com/mosley-turning-heads-around-the-nfl/
