And the receivers have dropped how many balls already?
-
Yeah I can see us in the Superbowl. I just have a hard time figuring out how we would stop the Saints or Packers. That said, we have been playing up to competition this season. Any team that is perceived to be better than us we have done well against with the exception of the Chargers. We have shown we can beat the Saints as well. We are getting ahead of ourselves here. Lets take care of Houston and NE/Denver and then take 2 weeks to worry about an NFC opponent.

I wish we had 5 Yandas on the O-line! That would be a beastly line.

Tecmo Bowl Tebowing:

Looking ahead: If Hue Jackson doesn't get another head coaching job can we hire him as OC to replace Cam?

lmao crav, I just spat my coffee out all over the keyboard.

The WRs need to collectively step up and make plays for Joe as well. After watching all of the playoff games, it is very noticeable that a lot of QBs just chuck it up and allow their WRs to go and make a play. I loved the Tebow game but in reality all he did was chuck it in the general direction of his WR in single coverage and allow him to make a play. I can't really remember any time when I could say that about any of our WRs. Boldin has had spurts where Joe could do that but conversely Q has dropped a lot of balls as well (10th in the league). Some times Joe will miss open receivers but that happens to a lot of QBs and hopefully he will get better at that part of his game but for the most part he is throwing into very tight windows and doing a very good job of it.

What I can't understand is the Steelers defense. Why would you continue to play cover 0 if Tebow is going to throw it up everytime you do?

Yesss! God Loves Tebow and hates Rapists........berger.

I'm enjoying watching "Matty Ice" melting in another playoff game. I can't believe any of you are sleeping through it. It's a joy to watch.

The problem for DeCosta must be projecting when Ozzie will step down. Ozzie is about to turn 56 so it's not like he is in a rush to retire. I could see Ozzie doing at least another 4 years before he moves back to Bama or retires. Can DeCosta wait that long?

The time to make the change with Lewis was when he sat out those games with the toe injury. Our LBs looked a lot better in pass coverage with no noticeable drop off in run support. Reed is a much tougher call. I still think he is better in coverage than Tom or Haruki but the missed tackles are really starting to mount up and when your FS is missing tackles it normally means the other team is scoring 6. At this point I wouldn't change anything. The ideal scenario is we win the Superbowl and both guys ride off into the sunset as winners. The next draft will be very interesting to see how we replace these 2 hall of famers.

After looking at the playoff picture as it stands, I feel a lot better. Especiallyiof San Diego misses out. We are on course for the no.2 seed. No other team scares me like San Diego does. They are 7-7 but can still win their division. Hopefully the Raiders and Broncos can hold them off because neither of those teams scare me. That leaves Houston, New England and the Steelers. Houston without their QB doesn't scare me, New England's defense sucks but they do have the offense that could kill us and the Steelers are looking older and slower by the game. We get the no.2 seed and we have a shot at the Superbowl but we will have to go through New England again.

Te'o has stated that he is returning for his senior year.

Nice start on D, special teams and then the O.

Me 2. But then they start at 1.30am in my timezone. At least I have NFL game pass so I can watch it the next day without all the commercials.

lol, remember how stoked Phil was about getting one over Ozzie by getting a 5th round draft pick from him to take the player they were going to pick ahead of Ngata anyway. I think the player was Wimbley who is now with the Raiders. lolbrowns.

Redzone offense. It has been atrocious most the season and stunk again yesterday.

When Chuck Pagano is up for a head coaching role I absolutely hope that Ray is the next DC in waiting. Outside of the motivation he provides he is an extremely smart guy and could easily be a great DC.

That's exactly the point. The ball can touch the ground as long as the receiver maintains "control" throughout the process. The reason the Megatron catch and the Gresham catch were ruled incomplete was Megatron let the ball come out of his hand after planting the ball on the ground and in 1 replay you can see the ball fractionally slide out of Gresham's hand as he hits the ground before he regains full control. If Megatron had got up with the ball still in his hand its a catch. If we don't get that 1 replay from behind Gresham's is a catch also. You deem a RB to have posession when he receives the hand off. At what point during the hand off does he have posession? If it is moving around in his grip after the handoff and he goes to ground and it comes out will the refs not deem it to be already coming out and therefore it is a fumble. How do they deem the ball was not secured? Is that a judgement call? The process of a catch is not too disimilar to a handoff. The QB throws the ball to the receiver, he catches it, has it secured, 2 feet in bounds then surely he has posession at that point in the same manner as a RB. What happens next? He hits the ground and the ball comes out. Is that not the same process as the RB receiving the handoff and then going to ground? Is the pass not a version of a handoff but in a grander scale. To be honest, I don't really care whether the rule is changed or not as long as the refs get it right consistently.

If the ground can't cause a fumble then how can it cause an incomplete catch? If the receiver has control before he hits the ground then it should be a catch. That seems a lot simpler to me.
