  1. The D was already there for the Bengals. They just needed to upgrade the O. I thought Dalton would struggle but he seemed to be 1 of the smarter QBs coming out of college so was likely to pick things up sooner than most and he has done that. It does help having a stud at WR in AJ and a QBs best friend is his TE and the Bengals also have a beast there in Gresham. Now Oakland have gone and made you guys even better by giving away draft picks.
  2. Could be worse, we could still have Kyle Boller at QB! He sure throws a pretty INT.
  3. Do the Raiders have any picks left in next year's draft. They spent a 3rd on Pryor in the supplemental draft and I think they also traded a few picks for Curry. They couldn't have much left. I can't believe anyone gave up more than a 2nd round pick for Palmer. Good player but not 2 1st rounders good. Not at this stage of his career. Maybe back in 07 he was worth this but he has never been the same since the Steelers took him out by the knees. Maybe Brown knows what he is doing afterall.
  4. Dan was virtually unknown here in the UK outside of the racing community. Unfortunately he has found fame through death and the sheer horror of the crash. RIP Dan.

    Big Win

While some of the pressure on Joe has to be put on the O-Line I have to give some credit to the Texans front 7. They are as solid a unit as we are likely to see. Smith and Watt are beasts at DE in a 3-4. I loved Watt coming out of Wisconsin and I think he was a great addition to the Texans. When you have enough pass rushers on your D that you have the luxury of pushing Cushing inside (something I think we should be doing with JJ) then you must be doing something right at LB as well.
  6. I do feel a bit sorry for Mason. He was a very good servant for the Ravens and gave his all. If it wasn't for a bit of whining he would be a hero here. It's a pity as he deserves better. On the other hand he did have to go and run his mouth off when he joined the Jets, so this ones for you Mason.....BBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  7. To be honest that tackle by Ngata looks no different to me than the Sanchez hit. However, to me that is a perfect tackle. He has his arms out and his head is in the only place he can put it, and he is hitting with his shoulder. Perfect form tackle IMO.
  8. I don't get how this was not a clean hit. The game announcers were calling for a penalty at the time as well. What is he supposed to do with his head in this case? Cut it off or something? He leads with his arms outstretched and makes contact first with his shoulder. His head does make contact with Sanchez but that happens on every tackle.
  9. At this rate the Lions are going to be undefeated when we meet them in the Superbowl
  10. I watched a bit of the Texans game and their RG was playing hurt and getting destroyed near the end of the game. Ngata is going to eat him for breakfast. The only matchup problem we had with the Texans is gone in the form of Andre Johnson. If we don't win this game at home, after a bye, against a wounded opponent then we don't deserve to win the division.
  11. I hardly ever agree with Papa when it comes to trades but I'm with him here. Why not trade him and get some more help for your new QB? It is a case of cutting off your nose to spite your face. There is being strong and then there is being stupid and I think Mike is tinkering on the ledge of stupid with his stance.
  12. The irony is not lost in the fact he was injured on a helmet to helmet hit. Rumour is Roger Goodell will fine Harrison and give the cash to Duane Brown of the Texans as a reward.
  13. I don't think Joe is being helped much by the route combinations that are being run. I haven't bashed Cam before but where are the quick hitters to Boldin. If the CB is backed off him then hit him quick and turn him into a RB. Where are the slants to him? I can't remember the last time I saw him running a slant that Joe threw to him on. If we are going to have a WR running deep and taking a safety with him where is the WR or TE filling the space vacated over the middle or to that safety's side. When I have saw someone running open in that space Joe seems to still throw to the deep man. It worked against the Rams but 20 yard gain is still a big play Joe. Joe also needs to work some on his long ball. He overthrows WRs too much but hopefully that will come as he gets his timing down with Torrey and Evans when he returns. An interesting point was raised in the commentary for either the Jets game or the Rams game that the Ravens run play action more than any other team. I can't remember the last time I was watching and was actually fooled by the playaction. We just don't sell it very well at all. Joe is normally snatching the ball away again when the RB is still 2 or 3 yards away from him. Who is that fooling? He does do a good job on draw plays though by selling the pass so why can't he do a better job of selling the run? Where is the hurry up? Many teams run it when they get a favorable personnel matchup that they want to exploit and not let the other team sub in. Have we run a hurry up offense outside of the 2 minute drill at any point this season? Perhaps it again has something to do with having so many new faces on offense and not having that familiarity with the play calls/hand signals that come in a hurry up. However, that is an excuse that will no longer be valid after the bye week. Lets see some more of Joe in the hurry up out of the shot gun. With all that said, Cam is doing a lot of things I really like. Running to the right side seems to be working and he stuck with it against the Jets when they finally stopped passing. I also like seeing them split Ray Rice out wide. The Ravens could really get more out of Ray if they watch a little bit of film on how the Patriots use Wes Welker. I think Cam should consider using Ray Rice and Ricky Williams on the same plays. Ray split out wide and Ricky in the backfield means it could be a pass or a run play. Some more imagination would go a long way and it seems to be missing from Cam's playbook since the 1st season he got here when he had to be creative because of the lack of talent on the Ravens offense at the time.
  14. What is happening with Carson? Is he still a Bengal, or has he retired?
  15. I have no problems with the perceived running up of the score. We have suffered in the past from not having the killer instinct so to see is throttle a team into submission is a step in the right direction.
  16. Was it not shown that cutting Foxworth would have resulted in a cap hit and we were tight against the cap as it was. I think we signed CB Danny Gorrer from the practice squad and cut Phillips before the Rams game as we were benching Foxworth so it is not a surprise to see them replenish the LB core again. I am a bit surprised they didn't sign a safety though with Nakamura being banged up.
  17. The worst thing about the overthrow is Torrey could have caught it if he had run full steam throughout the route. When he was running towards the safety he slowed a little and then put on the afterburners when he saw the ball in the air. He also did that on 1 of his receptions but the ball was perfectly thrown by Flacco so he was able to get there. Hopefully there is a lesson in there for Torrey.
  18. Meh, good luck to them. I will get all my Ravens news from here and the Ravens website from that point on.
  19. Go Joe! Show them you mean business
  20. Joe was traded because the 49ers had a new plan in place with Steve Young. What do the Colts have? A retired QB that has never been more than average and a Painter. Good teams move on when it suits them not the other way around. When the Colts have the 1st pick in the draft and take Andrew Luck then they can talk about trading Manning.
  21. Unfortunately for Kindle it is a numbers game and some LB has to lose out somewhere. Kindle is battling Kruger for playing time and Kruger has played well in preseason and at the start of the season so he deserves his playing time. McPhee has been getting some decent playing time so far this season as a rotational DE. He got his sack against the Rams as more of a UT or 3-4 DE and beat a guard inside. He has been a revelation so far and also recovered a fumble against the Steelers. He has been the surprise of the Ravens draft and I certainly didn't expect this much from a 5th round rookie.
  22. He did use him in pass rush situations. Hell, he even used him to try and block kicks. He also had to take him off the field a lot because of his weight and conditioning so sometimes it looked like he only played 2 downs.
  23. This is a really good deal for both sides. Good job Ozzie.
  24. The players accept it so it works. If the player wasn't injured and the team wants to put him on IR to keep him for another season the player could say no and hope to make it with another team. By going on IR the player still gets paid and has a chance of making the team next season. The same thing has happened with Ramon Harewood and the Ravens have done it before with other players.
  25. Was that part of the new CBA? The old CBA definitely had 2 definitions of incentives. Those likely to be earned where taken from the current year's salary cap at the start of the season just as if they were salary. Those unlikely to be earned were then not due until the season after they were earned. Therefore if an incentive that was likely to be earned but wasn't (most likely due to injury), this became a cap credit in the following year and was offset against the charge for those unlikely to be earned incentives that were actually earned. This system makes sense, so If they changed it in the last CBA it was a stupid move.
