so you want me to believe that the n-word no longer holds racial connotations because webster has chosen to give it a different definition WOW , i will no longer give you guys any of my attention on anything but football from this point forth. You guys are hopeless, i continually break you down on one issue then you jump to another, then when you come up with some other dumb view on what we were previously talking about you jump back to that. I'm wasting my time with your kind. And i will no longer stoop to the level of grown ass kids. If you want to call black people the N-word feel free i tired of explaining to dummies.

Like i said dc, it's a black thing and you just don't understand, well maybe you do, you yourself have stated above, that the word has a historically disgusting meaning but when a black person says it to another black person that historically disgusting meaning doesn't apply because that historically disgusting meaning only applies with the way Cooper used it. And there are other ways cooper could have used it that would apply. I've never felt angered the couple of thousand times a black person called me the n-word, but the handful of times that a white person has called me the n-word i was angered and i wanted to fight, why, because of history.

What I'm saying is that that argument has a number of major flaws. I get why the broad use of the term by whites comes with serious issue. What I don't get is why every use of the word by blacks is magically okay - it's never been said with anger or its historic connotation by a black person? And how you can magically decide who is using it appropriately and who isn't. Of course I understand why you would assume some connotations, but it's just absurd to force that on anyone - isn't that exactly what we all hate? "You are _______ (racial or otherwise), therefore you are _______."

Do I understand what you feel when it's said? Absolutely not. I won't pretend. But I understand it's awful.

Why not just erase the word? It's not about double standards. Just erase the word and it's historic disgrace with it.

[i've heard the "reclaim the word" argument before - which oddly hasn't been brought up here. In some ways, I understand that argument. But if the word is gong to be "returned" with some new meaning, I do feel like that meaning has to eventually be opened to the general public - otherwise you're not reclaiming the word, you're allowing and in fact perpetuating the old meaning of the word.]

Since the league won't serve justice , there will be a form of Field Justice served upon Riley Cooper. Someone this year will blatantly try to seriously hurt Cooper and the NFL won't have anyone to blame but themselves for not appropiately(sp) punishing Cooper.

I maintain the opinion that the whole circus of the n word is ridiculously attended to....It's just a word, and this is still America isn't it, you know , freedom of speech and all that !!.....You can call me Cracker, Honkey, White trash or anything else, and it may make me angry, insult or embarrass me but I wouldn't ever want to take your right away to do that.....

You can keep your socialist censorship, I'm man enough to take it and handle it myself.....If you'll be honest, it's become just a crutch to lean on for the weak and intimidated.....

You don't see Bill Cosby, Bryant Gumbal , Sidney Poitier out here waving that old crutch around, do you ?

You know why, they're not intimidated nor are they looking for someone to give them something....They worked hard, and were very successful without the crying towel.....

How about that, they actually survived hearing the dreaded n word......Hilariously stupid !

Goooo Ravens !!!!

Its nice when people who are not a minority say a derogatory term for a minority is just a word and no big deal.

Plus freedom of speech and all that, this is still America you know, has never meant you can say whatever you want with no repercussions despite what some idiots (often with microphones) seem to think.

could be the fear of becoming a minority and that's a high probability

It doesnt bother me one bit, just I thought thats what I heard

it really doesn't matter

the laws that are being passed on voter id and such will keep honkey in the majority even as a minority .blocking hundreds of thousands when there were only 42 cases of voter fraud
