Ed Reed probably should have retired. Rather than head out on top as a Super Bowl champion, Reed decided to stick around and signed a three-year, $15 million contract with the Texans.

Things haven’t gone well for the former Ravens ballhawk. He missed the team’s first two games with an injury and the Texans have gone winless since his return. Now, Will Grubb of CBS Houston reports that Reed has lost his starting job in Houston.

The team still lists him as a starter but against the Colts it was
and
who started the game at safety, neither had ever started an NFL game coming into this season. Meanwhile, Reed was used almost exclusively as the third safety in the dime package.

“That’s something that’s best for the team and whatever is best for the team that’s what we got to do” D.J. Swearinger told SportsRadio 610.

The one-time great hasn’t recorded an interception this season and has just 16 tackles and no sacks. Grubb reports that Reed likely won’t complete his three-year deal with Houston and could become a salary cap casualty to create space for re-signing J.J. Watt and Kareem Jackson

But I belive Unitas made the most money in his career that yr. He never had a bunch of money. I can't blame him for playing that yr.

Especially the way Joe Thomas and Irsay shit all over him.

$6 Mil Guaranteed. Ed just wanted that last contract and even if he's cut this year he made out pretty well ...you could tell his heart wasn't in going to Houston. The Texans did us a huge favor by paying him so we didn't have to. I know I wanted him back just for sentimental reasons.

We don't hear about his financial situation. He could be cold stone broke or rolling in it like JO.

I've heard he's very tight with his money. That's why he never hired an agent. I'm guessing he just wanted one last payday. I don't fault him for that.

Unitas 1973 salary was $210,000. In today's dollars that's $1.1 million. Amazing how the real values of salaries has escalated. I knew it was a lot but not that much. Joe makes $20 million a year. Not knocking anybody, just sayin'.

That's caus he has baby mommas scattered all over the USA . But he gets credit he takes care of every single child he has fathered, not like Leon who has made 66 million dollars and lives in his mothers basement and is months behind on child support. All that money and he is broke,
