cravnravn Posted March 10, 2014 Posted March 10, 2014 I thought with day light savings we were supposed to have extra daylight? 7:45 and its just daybreak? Quote
Robjr83 Posted March 10, 2014 Posted March 10, 2014 Typical government... take something away from you and tell you you're gaining something. Quote
papasmurfbell Posted March 10, 2014 Posted March 10, 2014 It is a stupid thing to do. Pick one or the other and leave it alone. 1 Quote
RavenMad Posted March 10, 2014 Posted March 10, 2014 Are clocks don't change until the end of March but we change from Day Light Savings Time to British Summer Time (BST). Do you guys call it something else? Quote
papasmurfbell Posted March 10, 2014 Posted March 10, 2014 They changed the date when they change clocks a few yrs ago for some reason. It was at the end of march and sometime in Oct. Not it is in Nov. Quote
cravnravn Posted March 10, 2014 Author Posted March 10, 2014 It makes no sence, especially down here, school starts at 7am, so these kids are on the buses at 6am in total darkness Quote
dc. Posted March 12, 2014 Posted March 12, 2014 Crav... it's a stupid system, but I am confused by your question. All we did was move clocks forward an hour. So your 6:30 day break became 7:30 daybreak... and your 6pm sundown became 7pm. Quote
ForceEight Posted March 12, 2014 Posted March 12, 2014 The daylight is gained in the evening, obviously, at the cost of morning light. It serves the purpose of increasing retail traffic and keeping people outside later, and those are the people of whom the governments of the western world are in the pockets. Quote

So your 6:30 day break became 7:30 daybreak... and your 6pm sundown became 7pm. It's a little different down here, if you drew a line straight south from Baltimore, you'd see how much further west florida is so we don't see dawn til 7:45 am. It just takes some getting used to. In 2008 I flew to our game vs Indy took off from bwi and seen the sunrise, landed in Cinncy in total darkness and while waiting for my connecting flight to Indy seen the sunrise again. Quote
deeshopper Posted March 13, 2014 Posted March 13, 2014 That's because of timezones and the distance you traveled. The sun rises in the east, so the further west you go... Quote
oldcrow Posted March 13, 2014 Posted March 13, 2014 all is true like BRAIN said moved an hour forward so the usual sunlight is an hour later in the morning lasting an hour later in the evening you all must remember that the earth is tilting back towards the sun in the northern hemisphere and this why we average 1 to 2 minutes in the morning and in the evening of more day light the longest day is in \JUNE so there are 90 more days of the days getting longer, the bottom line is Cravn you are getting old and easier confused Quote
oldcrow Posted March 13, 2014 Posted March 13, 2014 I believe it was originally changed for the farmers so they had more daylight later in the day to tend to there farms and the kids could finish their chores of course that was when USA was like 90 % farmers Quote
Spen Posted March 13, 2014 Posted March 13, 2014 Ben Franklin liked his ladies tan (with tan lines - his thing) so he came up with DST. He also liked his ladies syphilis free but beggers can't be choosers. Quote

dc. Posted March 13, 2014 Posted March 13, 2014 The earth doesn't actually change its tilt by the way... It's always tilted the same way, it's simply that as we are moving around the sun the north side of the tilt is now coming back towards the sun. Right Now of course we are just about even up on the equator tho... Quote
