Tornado700 Posted September 12, 2014 Posted September 12, 2014 The sheer character it took for these players to come out and soundly beat the Pittsburgh Steelers is truly amazing. I'm so proud of these guys after all the negativity that surrounded them to play with the fortitude that they showed. How can you not love them? It's time to talk about the RAVENS, and put Ray Rice behind us. 1 Quote

TBird Posted September 12, 2014 Posted September 12, 2014 Nobody said that on Sunday. What a difference 4 days makes - heh? Quote
OutsideRzAcE Posted September 12, 2014 Posted September 12, 2014 It's a relief to see that offense rolling. The Oline looks fantastic. I'm very impressed with Kubiak - if he is the one to finally get us a consistent, productive offense (one that doesn't just rely on Flacco being able to be accurate on a 50 yard bomb) then we are in for a great ride. Robjr83 Posted September 12, 2014 Posted September 12, 2014 Oline is miles better without Shitley/Gino/Oher. One false start right? And that was on Pitta I think. We're we that good or were the Stealers that bad? I'd ask our resident stooler but he's busy writing Bug Selig. 2 Quote
papasmurfbell Posted September 12, 2014 Posted September 12, 2014 I would have to see a couple more games as a sample set to make that determination. Quote
vmax Posted September 12, 2014 Posted September 12, 2014 (edited) The Gladiator HelmetNone of us knew that Suggs would be wearing a gladiator helmet when he was introduced to the sold-out stadium last night. The crowd went nuts. He's unbelievable. After Harbs gave his final proclamation to the team in the locker room, ending with, "We're built for games like this," Suggs lingered as the team headed out for intros. He had the helmet, which he purchased in Rome in June, wrapped in a towel in his locker. Since he was introduced last, he was able to keep the secret from his teammates and coaches. It was fun. And, he made his point. Let's go get the Steelers! By the way, the helmet is not a piece of plastic. It's heavy. "I thought we needed a boost. We couldn't afford to start slow," Suggs said after the victory.Way to go Sizz!http://www.baltimoreravens.com/news/article-1/Byrne-Identity-Leaders-Lead--And-Have-Some-Fun/9101dfb5-1919-4e95-80a3-6205fefca1a6 Edited September 12, 2014 by vmax Quote

vmax Posted September 12, 2014 Posted September 12, 2014 (edited) It was great to see Dooooom earn his check Yea...I was beginning to think his career was over. This D won't work without pressuring the QB.He bullied Gilbert. Edited September 12, 2014 by vmax Quote
oldno82 Posted September 12, 2014 Posted September 12, 2014 The offense was clicking like it did in pre-season so I think it might actually be something special if Joe can stay accurate in the short to medium range passes. It's amazing to me how he could look so off last week and then turn around and be super accurate last night. He was also making the quick throws which I didn't see the offense doing that much of last week. I'm rooting for Kubiak. The defense is a bend don't break defense. I've never liked that strategy. And it keeps them on the field too long. We've got to get the pressure on opposing quarterbacks like we did last night. Last week the pass rush got easily and repeatedly stuffed. Last night was the way it has to be to go deep this year. I don't think I'm a Dean Pees fan. Starting to wonder if Suggs' career is over. His absence has really been felt. Quote

I don't think I'm a Dean Pees fan. I agree. We give up far too many 3rd and Longs than I am comfortable with. We actually seem to be much better at getting off the field on 3rd and 4 or 5. Probably not true but it sure feels that way. Quote
papasmurfbell Posted September 12, 2014 Posted September 12, 2014 They are not at full strength on D yet. I am sure that will get them off the field faster. Quote

I've been wondering about that too. I'm not sure how effective he's been in the run defense because I haven't watched that closely, but I know he's not getting to the QB. The helmet was smart and I like him thinking outside the box to rally the team (although I'm sure he didn't mind a little self promotion). Hopefully Suggs still has something left in the tank. Quote

They are not at full strength on D yet. I am sure that will get them off the field faster. If Webb comes back healthy....and once Hill can play....this D could be scary good. Again..."Could Be"...but Cox will be a difference maker down the stretch run.In 9 plays Brandon Williams had 2 tackles and a QB hurry. Edited September 14, 2014 by vmax Quote

I did say that Signing Suggs was a poor idea. They would have been better off cutting him and moving on with youth. Quote

papasmurfbell Posted September 13, 2014 Posted September 13, 2014 I just don't see why anyone would sign an old DL/LB that has been routinely getting injured the last couple of yrs. Screw loyalty. That doesn't win rings. Quote
