vmax
I don't think either of those scenarios would have satisfied the fan base. We would have been sick.I might have sold my PSL's.Why sit and suffer for years? We have seen enough of the Kyle Bollers of the NFL to know that until you have a really good QB you have no shot at a title.Joe always gives the Ravens that shot. The Colts took 1 yr of pathetic play (I personally think they lost most on purpose to with the Luck sweepstakes) and got their QB for the next generation. rastaman831226
"If the Ravens final offer to Joe was what you think it should be, then he'd be playing somewhere else.Hey!... And then you and rasta would be on that team's message board!"If Joe Flacco won't take an offer more more befitting his production, let him walk. We now have Kubiak's system. A system that does not require a Joe Flacco boom boom inconsistant arm. Let Kubiak create our next QB - a game manager with a higher football IQ than Flacco and a helluva lot cheaper. RavenMad
What do you guys think Joe is worth then? You say he is overpaid but haven't said what he deserves to be paid. Make sure you include inflation (the cap has been rising and will continue to rise over the next couple of years with all the new TV deals etc.)

They drafted manning in 98 also didn't win any thing til 2006, I dont want to sit through that. I like my Joe he does nothing but win. oldno82
I have thought Manning is a loser in the PO's for yrs. Indy in Lucks 2nd yr have a PO win. There were no Luck's around where the Ravens were picking on draft day either last year or the year before. QB's like Luck are not a dime a dozen. The majority of drafted quarterbacks are never pan out. Remember Jeff George and Art Schlichter? The lowly Colts drafter them earlier than Manning.Tim Couch, Akili Smith, Jamarcus, and many others were supposed to be great ones too. I saw what this offense was like from 2000-2008 and I hope I never see the crap we had for quarterbacks ever again.
papasmurfbell
Again how many times and in how many ways do I have to reiterate that I would not have taken any QB in the 2013 draft? I love the guys you are pointing out. Smith is the only one I thought was good. I think the bungles broke him. Had the Raven again not chosen a QB for the sake of choosing one in Kyle they would not have wasted their pick. There are some that you can tell even though they are highly touted that will not pan out.

papasmurfbell
I called what has happened to RG3. I knew Luck was going to be great. You had some who said he wouldn't be good but they were saying it because so many people who thought he was amazing and they wanted to be contrarian. You had some who said he wouldn't be good but they were saying it because so many people who thought he was amazing and they wanted to be contrarian. That in no way indicates we would have been at the right draft position at the right time with the can't-miss prospect around. QB's like Luck and Manning are exceptions to the rule that most quarterbacks drafted high won't become first stringers. Those guys, and the opportunity to take them, are few and far between. And please don't mention Tyrod Taylor. In three years you won't even hear of the guy wherever he winds up.
papasmurfbell
Look at the QB draft classes fro 2014 and 2015. You can absolutely be in position to get a really good prospect.
oldno82
You don't even know where they'd be drafting in the round if they hadn't taken Flacco. And who knows if you'd have a willing trade partner to move up. And you can't be 'absolutely certain' that you would be. And neither can you be certain (if even if you're positioned right) that your 'can't miss' prospect will pan out.
papasmurfbell
Then why do I keep reading from various people here teams would be lined up waiting to give Joe that deal? I said you trade Joe for the 2013 draft and play with Taylor. I believe the Ravens would be a top 7 pick there. With the Picks for Joe you can move around if need be. Take this yrs draft. I liked Savage a lot. I believe he was 3rd round. I don't think he will be ready until 2016.
cravnravn
Wow you apparently no nothing, every qb mentioned drafted is in the top 5, ravens draft 18 -32 so we ain't finding shit under your mind set
papasmurfbell
Yeah and there is a reason why a lot of really bad team are always drafting in that area. They are stupid. They draft a QB to make their fans happy even though they are not that good. You saying I know nothing is hilarious. Didn't you say Sunday that the Ravens were in 1st place?
