GrubberRaven Posted July 15, 2016 Author Posted July 15, 2016 Wonder if their hesitant because of his down season?
papasmurfbell Posted July 15, 2016 Posted July 15, 2016 It really is more than 1 now. The last two have not been amazing. I would bet that is exactly the issue.
thundercleetz Posted July 15, 2016 Posted July 15, 2016 Not sure what you guys are talking about with a down year: https://mobile.twitter.com/PFF/status/703237234850451457 @PFF: .@Ravens K Justin Tucker was PFF's highest-graded kicker the past two seasons. #franchisetag
GrubberRaven Posted July 15, 2016 Author Posted July 15, 2016 Tucker has declined from his own performance, this past season. That's all I heard. I say sign him. He's not going to break the bank.
tsylvester Posted July 15, 2016 Posted July 15, 2016 He is not worth top dollar for kickers, over 45 yards, (4 of 10 from 50 yardsor more) especially at home. He is good, but he cost the team some games, plural, not what you would expect from the best kicker in the league.
thundercleetz Posted July 15, 2016 Posted July 15, 2016 I think it's superficial to look purely at a guy's misses past 50 yards as the sole reason for judgement. The Ravens had the highest rated special teams unit in 2015. What about field position? He had the highest kick-off grade and third-highest field goal/extra point grade. Only 13.5 percent of his kickoffs were returned, which was second-fewest in the league. https://www.profootballfocus.com/pro-6-highest-graded-special-teams-units-this-season/

His first two years, very nice, the last two, eh. I would wait to see how he does this year to sign him long term if they can't get close. Let him collect the franchise money and walk next year if he wants to..
tsylvester Posted July 15, 2016 Posted July 15, 2016 Yeah, while the guaranteed money is among the most for kickers, the over all money is reasonable. The way he was talking, one would think the Ravens offered far less and he want much more.
thundercleetz Posted July 15, 2016 Posted July 15, 2016 He got nearly the same amount of money as Stephen Gostkowski. Advanced statistics suggest Gostkowski and Tucker are among the top three kickers in the league. It is a fair deal for a player of Tucker's talents and production.
oldno82 Posted July 15, 2016 Posted July 15, 2016 Fair deal for both sides. I just hope he doesn't pull a Cundiff collapse.
vmax Posted July 15, 2016 Posted July 15, 2016 Special Teams is 1/3rd of the winning formula. Has anybody started their career better than Tucker? You can bet every team in the AFC North was salivating hoping the Ravens lose him.
cravnravn Posted July 16, 2016 Posted July 16, 2016 and fyi. You all know that is a bargaining tactic used everyday when bargaining a contract. I wished social media was around when we bargained our contracts back in the day.
vmax Posted July 16, 2016 Posted July 16, 2016 He's a Superstar. You get a big name because you make big plays.....because you can dominate. As a fan, it's been terrific to watch players like Woodson, Reed, Lewis, McAlister, Jamal Lewis, Ogden, Stover, Boldin, Torrey Smith, Joe Flacco, Shannon Sharpe, Boulware, McCrary, Suggs, Dumervil and a ton of other Ravens. And even if they lose the game or have a down season, it takes a lot of the sting out because you get to see some outstanding plays and performances. It takes the sting out of the ticket prices too.
